I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 225: Chapter 224: New Arrivals

Beisitian was taken aback by his sudden act of intimacy and quickly pretended to be nonchalant as she stood up to pour some water, saying, ”I know, starting from the grassroots also allows me to understand military doctors better.”

Beisitian faced away from Luo Xudong as she drank water, her face slightly flushed.

Since they were married, Beisitian had no aversion to whatever it was, but now that the moment had arrived, she felt extremely nervous.

Perhaps Luo Xudong noticed her nervousness and didn’t make any further moves, which made Beisitian quietly breathe a sigh of relief.

The room at the guesthouse was very small, and the bed was not as big as the one at home; lying together meant being close to each other.

Beisitian lay with her back to Luo Xudong, feeling both anxious and nervous. On her wedding night, she slept deeply until morning. Fortunately, this was different from her previous life, where consummating the marriage and seeing blood on the wedding night was a must; otherwise, there would be talk from the in-laws.

However, this also showed Luo Xudong’s thoughtfulness, as he was considerate of Beisitian’s physical state, thinking not only of himself.

Luo Xudong looked at the small figure curled up on the bed, forcing himself to look away, saying, ”We have to get up early tomorrow, so let’s sleep early.”

Beisitian responded in a low ’Mm,’ her voice deep and dreamy, as if she were about to fall asleep because she hadn’t yet recovered from yesterday’s wedding banquet, and today she had been crying and jolted all the way here, so she was exhausted. Her eyelids felt heavy lying on the bed.

Luo Xudong, being the age of hot-blooded youth, was laying next to the woman who ignited his passion and didn’t dare lie on the bed. He put on a vest and went out, only coming back after ten o’clock.

Luo Xudong lay on the bed, turned to hug Beisitian, and closed his eyes. The person in his arms was soft, making it very comfortable to sleep while cuddling.

In the morning, when Beisitian woke up, Luo Xudong had already brought breakfast back—a combination of soy milk and fried dough sticks.

Beisitian quickly got up to wash.

The two of them quickly finished breakfast and then caught a bus to Anding City.

Although Qingzhou City wasn’t too far from Anding City, it was already past one o’clock in the afternoon when they reached their destination.

At the station, there was a military jeep waiting. Luo Xudong got off the bus and took Beisitian onto the military jeep.

”Deputy Squad Leader Luo, this is your wife, right? Hello, ma’am. I’m Peng Guosheng, here to pick you up.” The soldier driving was a young man in his twenties, whose eyes curved like crescent moons when he smiled, giving him a comedic look.

Upon returning in glory, Luo Xudong was promoted to Deputy Squad Leader at the commendation ceremony. Though with his merits, he could have been directly promoted to Squad Leader, considering his age of only twenty-five or six, such rapid promotion might not be beneficial for him.

Although merely a Deputy Squad Leader, his first-class merit allowed him some special privileges, one of which was bringing his family along.

Seeing this, Beisitian smiled and said, ”Hello, I’m Beisitian. Thank you for picking us up.”

Peng Guosheng laughed, observing Beisitian. Rumor had it that Deputy Squad Leader Luo’s wife was from the countryside; however, looking at Beisitian, even urban girls couldn’t compare!

The two got into the car, and Peng Guosheng drove them towards the camp.

On the road, Luo Xudong was silent, resting his eyes. The urgent recall might indicate a special task; the General Staff Ninth Department is a special unit with a fixed number of personnel, no formal organization, all serving part-time in various units. His position as Deputy Squad Leader was hung in the 115th Division Thirty-sixth Group eighth company.

Though serving part-time, he had to lead troops effectively, primarily executing Ninth Department missions.

This time, the notification didn’t specify what the task was; if it’s an order from Ninth Department, it might be troublesome.

Peng Guosheng dropped them off at the family residence in the troop area and left. Luo Xudong took Beisitian to the second floor and stopped at the third door.

”This is assigned to us, we’ll be living here from now on.” Luo Xudong handed Beisitian an extra key.

Luo Xudong left after sending Beisitian to the door. She opened the door and walked inside.

Inside were two rooms, arranged as an inner and outer room; the space wasn’t large, but just right for two. There was a kitchen and a bathroom, bed, and table were all available, and the bed linens were all army supplies, uniformly green.

Beisitian’s mouth curved into a smile. Although not as large as her home’s house, having such a cozy little place to reside was nice.

”Oh, who are you with?” The door behind Beisitian was not shut, and she turned to see a woman in her thirties passing by and looked surprised.

The woman glanced at the door and then at Beisitian, suddenly realizing, ”You must be with Deputy Squad Leader Luo’s family?”

”Yes, hello.” Beisitian smiled lightly.

The woman, about thirty years old, had hair neatly combed back, wearing a white shirt with a few crystal beads at the collar, paired with an ankle-length skirt, looking quite fashionable.

”I’m Li Shuzhen, my husband is from the Ninth Company. You can call me ’sister-in-law’.” Li Shuzhen appeared very friendly, proactively helping Beisitian with tidying things.

”Just arrived, right? Let me help you out with cleaning.”

”Thank you, sister-in-law, but there’s nothing much to tidy up.” Beisitian said as Li Shuzhen had already taken over her things.

”Most people living in this building belong to the Thirty-sixth Group and the Twenty-eighth Regiment. Your husband surely knows them all. Don’t feel restrained; if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Oh, by the way, I live next door, number five is my home.” Li Shuzhen chuckled.

”You’ve married a good man, Deputy Squad Leader Luo has been away for years on great merits.” Li Shuzhen talked a lot, although Beisitian said nothing, she could talk for half a day by herself.

Speaking of Luo Xudong, everyone in the troop was impressed, thinking he fled cowardly and died. Surprisingly, he returned with first-class merits!

Although she didn’t attend the commendation ceremony, the loudspeaker was so loud in the doorway that she heard it clearly. Luo Xudong surely had a bright future, and fostering a good relationship with his wife was necessary.

”You’re really beautiful, no wonder Deputy Squad Leader Luo rushed to hold the banquet upon returning. Heard he submitted marriage papers immediately, making many ’green flowers’ in the military cry.” Li Shuzhen smiled as she spoke.

Li Shuzhen was packing while occasionally casting glances at Beisitian.

Everyone knew about Luo Xudong submitting marriage papers immediately upon return. Many thought it was family pressure since he’s so old, in the countryside kids already several years old, still unmarried, his family must be anxious. Even Li Shuzhen thought so, but now seeing Beisitian changed her mind slightly.

This girl doesn’t appear to be from rural areas. Even wearing a plain blue jacket, she feels different.
