I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 227: Chapter 226: Stop the Bleeding for Him

Although this is called a health team, it’s actually a bit larger than the health clinic in Qingzhou Town. Beisitian watched the soldiers and people in white coats coming in and out, and stepped inside.

She had planned to wait a few days to familiarize herself with the environment before reporting in, but since she was already here, she might as well take a look.

Before Beisitian’s foot even landed on the step, a commotion suddenly erupted behind her, accompanied by hurried footsteps and a nurse shouting ’Make way’ quickly approaching.

Beisitian turned her head and saw a group of people get off a vehicle marked with a red cross; there were both nurses and soldiers. They were surrounding a stretcher cart as they quickly ran in her direction, the nurse holding a glass bottle high was shouting ’Make way’ at her.

Beisitian quickly shifted to the side, stepping aside to clear the stairs. The group pushed the stretcher cart up the smooth slope in the middle of the stairs and into the health team.

Beisitian frowned slightly. The soldiers who just went in had blood on them, were they injured?

Thinking of Luo Xudong who had gone on a mission, she couldn’t help but worry a bit more.

As Beisitian walked inside, she could hear the chaos coming from within. Through the mottled yellow-painted glass window and wooden door, Beisitian saw the stretcher cart quickly heading towards the emergency room.

”Hey, come register over here, what’s uncomfortable?”

A desk was set up to the side of the entrance with a ’Consultation Desk’ sign on it. The one speaking was a nurse behind the desk.

Generally, it’s not necessary to register when visiting the health team. The nurse saw Beisitian looking left and right as if it was her first time here and she didn’t seem uncomfortable, so she called her over to register.

Although this was a stationed place, they still had to inquire about suspicious behaviors.

Beisitian, new to the place, didn’t know the young nurse was suspicious of her. She walked to the consultation desk and seeing there was no registry book there, looked up at the young nurse.

The young nurse looked at her suspiciously and asked, ”Where are you uncomfortable?”

It’s impolite to abruptly ask which unit someone belongs to, in case of misunderstanding. It’s okay to ask if it’s a soldier.

”I’m not here to see a doctor. I’m here for a position,” Beisitian said, without a recommendation letter.

The young nurse’s eyes lit up, ”You’re the new medical assistant?”

Before Beisitian could answer, there was a commotion from the emergency room. Two nurses rushed out anxiously, their white nurse uniforms stained with blotches of blood.

The two of them walked out, saying, ”Liu Jun Commander can’t stop bleeding. Check if Doctor Sun has arrived, and find two people to meet him on the road!”

This nurse looked older, sweating profusely with anxiety. They had tried all methods but couldn’t stop the bleeding, and Liu Jun Commander was already in hypovolemic shock. The soldiers around them were getting agitated.

”Get two more nurses to help, where are the others?” That head nurse shouted, her voice somewhat hoarse.

The nurses on duty each day are known, where to find people temporarily, the emergency room is already in chaos.

The young nurse behind the registration desk glanced at Beisitian, ”Since you’re here to report in, go help first. You can complete the entry formalities after everything is settled!”

Without waiting for Beisitian’s agreement, she turned and shouted to the older nurse, ”Nurse Liu, the new medical assistant is here!”

Beisitian didn’t have a chance to say she wasn’t here to report in; she was pulled over by the young nurse. However, she wasn’t angry. Lives were at stake, naturally, priorities had to be clear, and besides, it was just helping out.

”Is there a medical assistant here? Great, come over!” Nurse Liu, upon hearing that a medical assistant was present, immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

A medical assistant is essentially an intern doctor. They may not have much experience but possess professional knowledge. Lending a hand is still better than a nurse.

”Doctor Shen is the only one on duty today and is currently in surgery. We’ve already called Doctor Sun, but the situation with Liu Jun Commander is critical. Soldiers from the 26th Regiment are very agitated. If not for two non-commissioned officers holding them back, there might have been an uproar!” Nurse Liu explained briefly while walking.

”The immediate priority is to stop the bleeding. We’ve already administered two hemostatic injections, but they haven’t helped at all. That’s the situation, stick by me and lend a hand,” Nurse Liu feared Beisitian wouldn’t understand the situation and get confused inside.

Beisitian recalled the person she glimpsed on the stretcher a moment ago. Since the injections weren’t working, there was no need to administer another.

Upon entering the emergency room, several soldiers were shouting for Doctor Shen to hurry. The tension between the 26th Regiment and the health team centered here, with the doctor on duty performing surgery while Liu Jun Commander’s condition was dire.

As Beisitian came in, a particularly emotional soldier was about to drag a young nurse to find Doctor Shen.

The young nurse’s wrist was grabbed, and she was both angry and embarrassed, but couldn’t break free, repeatedly saying let go.

Nurse Liu entered and saw the scene, she quickly shouted, ”Let go! Dragging her won’t magically produce Doctor Shen for you!”

”I don’t care! Whatever surgery is going on needs to be stopped immediately to save our Commander!” the soldier said unreasonably.

Nurse Liu rolled her eyes in frustration and decided to ignore him, turning to Beisitian, ”Go grab more bandages!”

Seeing that Beisitian didn’t go to fetch them but instead stepped closer to Liu Jun Commander, Nurse Liu immediately pulled her back, ”Hey hey, what are you doing? Get the bandages first, we have to last until Doctor Sun arrives!”

Beisitian glanced at her arm, then said, ”He won’t last.”

”What.”

”Too much blood loss, he won’t last, cut the clothes near his wound, and I’ll stop the bleeding.” Beisitian rolled up her sleeves a bit and approached the patient.

Nurse Liu was taken aback, then frowned, ”Miss, I know you want to make an impression, but consider the timing, you can’t rely solely on what you learned from books!”

Beisitian took the scissors from the nearby tray and began cutting open the military uniform around Commander Liu’s stomach without saying more.

As she cut, she asked, ”How did he get injured?”

Beisitian’s composure somewhat calmed the surrounding soldiers. Hearing her question, someone replied, ”A falling rock on the mountain, our Commander saved an old uncle herding sheep and accidentally got his stomach scraped by the wire mesh holding the rocks!”

The soldier spoke plainly, but the scene was very dangerous at the time, with intestines almost spilling out!

”Are you a doctor?” The one who replied to Beisitian was a company commander. Seeing that Beisitian was an unfamiliar face but her skills appeared proficient, he was puzzled.

The main issue was no one was helping to stem Commander Liu’s bleeding. At this rate, he’d lose all his blood before that old Sun even arrived. Rather than wait for death, it was better to try a risky move. Anyway, the girl seemed quite skilled.
