I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 235: Chapter 234: Can’t Remember Faces

”Let’s go home,” Beisitian checked the time, planning to go home and cook.

Luo Xudong nodded, his stern face wearing a light smile, while his hands were busy carrying bags, attracting the attention of many young women on the street.

This man was not only handsome, but also caring and wealthy. Who wouldn’t want a man like this?

Neither of them wanted to dine out. Whether it was in Beisitian’s past life or as ’Zhou Jiren,’ they had been to restaurants plenty of times. They preferred the fun of cooking and eating together.

”What do you want to eat?” Beisitian asked, ”Today I’ll cook and reward your wallet.” She turned her head to look at him with a smile.

Luo Xudong’s expression shifted slightly as he turned to look at her.

They exchanged meaningful glances, his filled with the clear hint of ’wanting to eat you,’ which made Beisitian’s face flush red instantly. She softly scolded him, ”Be serious!”

Luo Xudong raised an eyebrow, ”Did I say anything?”

”...” Old sly fox.

The thought flashed through Beisitian’s mind, your intention wasn’t clear enough?

”Eating before or after makes no difference,” Luo Xudong said with barely any expression, rather seriously.

Seeing him say such things earnestly, Beisitian felt both embarrassed and annoyed, reaching out to pinch his waist, only to find firm muscle instead of any excess flesh. The remembered touch from that night and the real sensation under her hand made her face even redder.

He even had muscles at his waist; Beisitian couldn’t help but have some thoughts.

The two bickered and laughed as they returned to the base.

Going up to the second floor, Beisitian took out the key to open the door, immediately spotting a lovely girl standing there, somewhat shy and reserved.

”Deputy Squad Leader Luo, my brother said to invite you over for dinner tonight.” The girl blushed while glancing at Luo Xudong, quickly lowering her head.

Beisitian raised an eyebrow, she’d been completely ignored. If it were someone else from a rural background, they would certainly feel inferior.

Feng Yuwei’s brother was the sergeant of the Thirty-sixth Group’s third company. Rank-wise, he was higher than Luo Xudong. They had some interactions, but normally they wouldn’t eat at each other’s house.

The last time he was invited for dinner was because Feng Yuwei had come over. Feng Tuanjie wanted to match him with his sister Feng Yuwei, only revealing his intention after he had already arrived.

”Not going. Tell Sergeant Feng my wife is cooking dinner for me,” Luo Xudong said calmly, leaving no room for negotiation.

The shyness on Feng Yuwei’s face instantly vanished, as if only now noticing Beisitian, looking over in surprise.

”So... she is your wife?” Feng Yuwei’s smile faltered, unable to fully break out, as she hadn’t expected Luo Xudong to be so direct.

Luo Xudong stopped talking, preparing to head inside with Beisitian.

Seeing this, Feng Yuwei quickly said, ”Wait a moment, why don’t you both come together then!” She shot Beisitian a glance, showing a hint of reluctance.

”No need. I prefer dining with my wife without strangers,” Luo Xudong replied coldly, staring at Feng Yuwei. This woman was truly overstepping.

Feng Yuwei’s face went pale, her hands awkwardly placed, Luo Xudong was too harsh. Couldn’t he be a little gentler to a girl!

”Let’s go, you said you’d pamper me tonight,” Luo Xudong smiled slightly at Beisitian.

This smile was like sunlight shining on ice and snow, warming her heart.

Witnessing this, Feng Yuwei felt a pang of jealousy. No matter how openly or secretly she tried to meet Luo Xudong, she had never seen him smile at any woman!

She’s just a village woman, why is Luo Xudong treating her so differently!

Unable to understand, Feng Yuwei watched the two smilingly head inside, stomping her foot in anger. That villager was more cunning than she thought, not showing any dissatisfaction from start to finish!

Of course, Beisitian wasn’t upset. Luo Xudong maintaining her in front of outsiders made her very happy, feeling sweet inside.

Luo Xudong sat in the living room reading a newspaper, occasionally glancing towards the kitchen. Seeing her busy silhouette brought an involuntary smile to his lips.

Three dishes and one soup quickly appeared on the table. Luo Xudong saw Goji berries floating on the winter melon meatball soup, looking very delightful, and the aromatic scent reached his nose, sparking his hunger.

”Is this medicinal cuisine?” Luo Xudong asked.

Beisitian laughed, ”A genuine medicinal dish.”

She had added talisman powder, which eliminates impurities and toxins, strengthens muscles and bones. Although Luo Xudong had a good physique, he likely hadn’t been kind to his body during those years of stealth, as even a huge embankment can be ruined by ants. A good body still requires maintenance and exercise, or else it would fall apart.

With Luo Xudong still young, she was preparing to lay the foundation for his health!

Luo Xudong didn’t understand any of this. Since Beisitian had made it for him, it must be beneficial, so he didn’t ask further and started eating with Beisitian.

”Who is Feng Yuwei anyway?” Beisitian inquired.

”I thought you wouldn’t ask.”

”Know yourself and your opponent, and you’ll win every battle,” Beisitian chuckled lightly.

Luo Xudong felt her expression had become much more lively now, very different from when interacting with ’Zhou Jiren.’

”There’s no need to pay her much attention. She’s Feng Tuanjie the sergeant’s cousin. Her family wanted to find her a military husband, so they went to Feng Tuanjie.”

”So they came to you?” Beisitian guessed they weren’t meeting for the first time.

”Yes, it was before my mission,” Luo Xudong felt her gaze on him and added, ”I turned it down.”

”Why?” Beisitian was a bit puzzled, women like that should be appealing to men, weren’t many men keen to marry such types in her past life?

Of course, people marry for virtue and take concubines for beauty, but it also reflects what men’s aesthetic preferences are from another angle.

”Can’t remember her appearance,” Luo Xudong thought for a moment and said.

Beisitian didn’t expect such an answer, almost choking, ”What do you mean you can’t remember her looks?”

”Hmm.” Luo Xudong didn’t quite know how to explain, seeing her only once, yet every subsequent meeting felt like it was the first time. After seeing her twice, he might have some impression, but that impression was just a fuzzy image in his mind.

Not to mention, women like her were difficult just to look at, let alone if brought home! Who could live with that?

Beisitian was amused by his serious expression. If that girl knew Luo Xudong couldn’t even remember her face, how heartbroken would she be?

”How many times did you see me before remembering my face?” Beisitian laughed.

Luo Xudong lifted his head, ”I remembered it the first time.” Indeed, he remembered it the first time he went with Ma Xiaoling to the Bao Niang embroidery workshop to find her.

”Liar,” Beisitian giggled.

”Not lying.”

”You are lying.”

”...”
