I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 208: Chapter 207: Come With Us

”Why don’t you come inside to talk!” Qin Hongmei shouted, insisting that whatever is being said doesn’t have to be aired outside for everyone to hear.

Luo Aiguo also reacted, quickly inviting them inside.

Luo Xudong didn’t put on airs and stepped inside.

On the kang bed in the east room, Old Mrs. Luo was sitting there fanning herself. Seeing Luo Xudong come in, she raised her chin with a cold expression, saying nothing. She wanted to test Luo Xudong, waiting for him to call her grandmother, yet she remained silent, making him understand there were elders in the family!

Beside her, Qin Hongmei saw the three enter the room but didn’t get off the kang. She merely lifted her eyelids before continuing to sit cross-legged and work.

The three entered and all gazed at Qin Hongmei.

”In broad daylight, what nonsense are you talking about? That I took two thousand yuan? Show me the evidence! How did I take it?” Qin Hongmei was the first to accuse.

Old Mrs. Luo, feeling dissatisfied that Luo Xudong ignored her upon entering, wanted to speak. Upon hearing this, she stayed quiet; two thousand yuan, enough to build a house!

Old Mrs. Luo stared at Qin Hongmei with sinister eyes, contemplating the likelihood of the situation.

”Qin Hongmei, don’t think of denial. My son wouldn’t speak nonsense. You wanted to borrow money to marry off Qiangzi; how did you suddenly have money? Turns out it was our Xudong’s accommodation money!”

Qin Hongmei felt Old Mrs. Luo’s piercing stare, her face darkened. Old Mrs. Luo had already been skeptical of the matter, and after Mrs. Qin’s words, she was even more doubtful. Although it was indeed the money used, it wasn’t two thousand!

”You claim your son doesn’t speak nonsense; is he a head officer?” Qin Hongmei angrily slammed the basket she was working with onto the kang.

”Then tell me, where did the money for Qiangzi’s wedding come from?” Mrs. Qin refused to back down. At the time, she and Luo Anguo had puzzled over it for quite a while because Qin Hongmei had borrowed a considerable sum. Knowing her, they wouldn’t know when she’d repay it, yet the preparation had already begun.

”Do I need to report where my money comes from? Aiguo works hard, and it’s not like Qiangzi sits at home freeloading. What’s wrong with my family having some money!” Qin Hongmei stood on the kang, shouting down at Mrs. Qin, refusing to be subdued.

Mrs. Qin had vented her anger and lost her words, as Beisitian saw this and pulled her arm, softly saying, ”Mom, let’s not get unnecessarily angry.”

Qin Hongmei grew cautious upon hearing Beisitian speak, knowing this troublesome girl was no pushover!

Beisitian looked at Qin Hongmei standing tall, smiling while pulling Mrs. Qin back.

Qin Hongmei was ready for Beisitian’s attack; suddenly seeing her smile, she shivered and exclaimed, ”Don’t try to throw mud at me! You say I took the money; provide proof!”

Luo Aiguo stood at the door, his heart sinking further. Seeing Qin Hongmei like this, he knew they weren’t wrong in accusing her, yet he was clueless about when and how she did it.

No wonder she suddenly had money for Qiangzi’s marriage; she claimed it was borrowed from her family, with no return deadline or interest. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time and was even pleased. Later, the matter was forgotten, and whenever he asked, she diverted the topic.

Beisitian remained silent, pulling Mrs. Qin not to speak, her expression calmly unbothered by Qin Hongmei.

Seeing this, Qin Hongmei started to feel unsettled.

The east room fell silent until Luo Xudong spoke slowly, ”Wang Guijin has confessed, and now the military is investigating him. Qin Honglian, as an accomplice, has been detained by the police station.”

Qin Hongmei’s face turned pale; she forced herself to remain calm, shaking her head, ”You’re trying to scare me; I didn’t take it, so I didn’t take it!”

Upon hearing Luo Xudong mention ”Wang Guijin,” Qin Hongmei knew she was in trouble. Since he knew Wang Guijin tipped her off, he likely knew the entire incident!

Yet she just called Wang Guijin a couple of days ago; how could there already be an investigation!

”The police station has filed a case, and I’m merely notifying you,” Luo Xudong stated.

”File a case? What case? I don’t understand!” Qin Hongmei shouted, her loud voice betraying her guilt.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice sounded from the yard.

”Is Qin Hongmei from this house?”

Qin Hongmei trembled as she stepped to the window, peering outside to see two policemen in uniforms, causing her vision to darken and collapse backward.

Luo Aiguo had already gone out, and upon seeing the police, he knew it was over, stammering, ”Offi... Officers, you... you...”

”Is Qin Hongmei from your house?” asked the dark-complexioned policeman.

”Yes, yes.” Luo Aiguo hurriedly replied.

Villagers have a natural fear of police.

”Let her come with us for questioning; she’s suspected of fraud, and we need to investigate.” said the dark-complexioned policeman.

As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Hongmei’s crying voice burst from inside, ”I’m not leaving, I’m not leaving, I didn’t commit any fraud~~”

The two policemen had already stepped inside.

Luo Aiguo followed closely behind, trembling.

As soon as Qin Hongmei saw the policemen, she shrank into the kang’s corner, kicking and shouting, ”I didn’t commit fraud; it wasn’t me; it was Wang Guijin who told me to do it; go find him!”

The two policemen glanced at Luo Xudong, who said, ”Wang Guijin claimed you took all two thousand, not a cent for him.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Hongmei’s eyes turned red, ”That bastard! He told me the money was in the old clothes, a total of two thousand, and said I could have six hundred. I managed to negotiate for eight hundred, so how is it all mine! I want to see Wang Guijin; I want to confront him!”

Qin Hongmei seemed on the verge of madness.

Luo Aiguo nearly fainted upon hearing this; that wretched woman had secretly taken eight hundred from the second son’s family!

Beisitian listened from the side, seeing Luo Xudong glance at the two policemen.

The dark-complexioned policeman said, ”Let’s go, come with us to the police station!”

In the countryside, going to the police station is highly disgraceful, even if innocent, people will assume you’re guilty.

”I’m not going, I’m not going!” Qin Hongmei clutched the bedding, crying.

”The case is already filed; unless you return the two thousand yuan, you have to go.” said the dark-complexioned policeman.
