I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 195: Chapter 194: Pushed Into a Room

Wu Yuekai had many things to take care of, so he left after a short while.

Beisitian arranged three tables for the soldiers and officers who came with Luo Xudong. They had to return today, but Luo Xudong had some time off.

The banquet started dismantling the sheds by eight o’clock. The villagers returned to their homes, and the soldiers who had come to see Luo Xudong off had already left as they needed to return to their station.

Beisitian stayed outside and busied herself, knowing that Luo Anguo and his wife probably had much to talk about with Luo Xudong, so she only returned home after everyone had left.

When she got home, she heard Mrs. Qin’s soft sobbing and Luo Anguo recounting the events of the past years. Beisitian paused for a moment and went to the west room.

In the west room, Luo Anping was practicing calligraphy on the kang table, but it was clear his mind wasn’t on it.

Luo Anping glanced at Beisitian, looking somewhat unhappy.

”What’s wrong, Ping’an?” Beisitian asked.

Luo Anping pouted and asked Beisitian, ”Sister, are you guys going to leave me behind?”

Beisitian looked at Luo Anping’s aggrieved little face and laughed, ”Why would you think that?”

”My brother is a hero, but I’m not. You all must like him better!” Luo Anping said dejectedly.

The scene of Luo Xudong’s return today had clearly left a strong impression on the little guy’s heart.

”No way, when Ping’an grows up, you’ll be even more impressive!” Beisitian laughed.

Luo Anping’s eyes brightened, ”Really?”

”Really!”

The worries of children come as quickly as they go. Luo Anping started practicing calligraphy again. Beisitian heard the sound of conversation, suggesting that Luo Anguo had been telling Luo Xudong about the events of past years.

After hearing about those things, Luo Xudong must have felt pretty sad.

The three in the east room talked late into the night, and if Luo Anping hadn’t been too sleepy, they might have continued chatting.

When Beisitian brought Luo Anping over, she saw Luo Xudong with his head down, face obscured, and Luo Anguo and Mrs. Qin with red eyes, indicating they had been crying.

The atmosphere in the room was a bit somber, but with Beisitian’s words, it quickly changed.

”Mom, I brought Ping’an over, I’m going to sleep, you should rest early too.” Beisitian handed Luo Anping’s hand over.

Seeing she hadn’t greeted Luo Xudong, Qin and Luo Anguo assumed she was shy, exchanging a glance and seeing the amusement in each other’s eyes.

This way, Beisitian didn’t have to leave.

The couple’s thoughts were simple; before, with Luo Xudong not around, Beisitian would naturally have to marry out. But now that Luo Xudong was back, she was still the daughter-in-law of the Luo Family and didn’t need to leave them!

Luckily, they hadn’t recognized her as their daughter, or it would be troublesome!

”Alright, alright, go to bed now, it’s been a long day, today Little Tian’er must be exhausted!” Mrs. Qin, still with tear stains, was already smiling brightly.

Perhaps they’ll have a grandchild by New Year’s!

”Mom...”

Mrs. Qin pushed Beisitian and Luo Xudong back to the west room, closing the door behind them before Beisitian could say anything.

Beisitian: ”...”

Luo Xudong: ”...”

Beisitian felt her intentions might not have been clear enough!

She glanced forward at Luo Xudong; his tall figure, long and straight legs, broad, strong back clad only in an army green vest. His strong arms were exposed, and the usually calm her suddenly felt a bit flustered.

Especially thinking about that time they went into the mountains and had already had some ’skin-to-skin’ contact, her cheeks began to flush a bit.

Luo Xudong also hadn’t expected things to change so quickly. His mother just pushed them into the room, catching him quite off guard.

Thinking of her right behind him, it seemed that soft, bouncy feeling on his back returned, a sensation that kept him awake on countless nights, only able to cool down with cold showers!

The soft yellow light shone down, falling on the two of them, making the room seem a bit warm.

”I only have one quilt, one pillow,” Beisitian stated flatly, hoping he’d have the ’courtesy’ to leave.

”I don’t mind,” Luo Xudong turned, his deep gaze falling upon her.

Beisitian blushed at his words, almost bursting into laughter out of anger, never expecting him to be so shameless!

Her gaze lifted and accidentally met his, both of them looked away simultaneously.

Luo Xudong saw her tender face tinged with a slight blush, large beautiful eyes filled with anger, and couldn’t help but smile.

”Miss Bei,” Luo Xudong called with that familiar address.

Beisitian raised an eyebrow, proudly responding, ”Mr. Zhou.”

”So you knew all along!” Luo Xudong, though he expected it, still felt slightly surprised hearing Beisitian admit it.

”How about this, we’ll each take one side,” Luo Xudong suggested.

Beisitian turned to look at the large kang. If each took one side, it could be considered ’sharing a bed’, but with such a distance between them, it might as well be ten thousand miles. It wasn’t entirely unacceptable.

Her face tightened, caught in deep internal conflict. The east room was spacious enough for three, but adding a tall Luo Xudong would be difficult. Although she could fit, sharing a bed with even one’s own parents was inappropriate now, let alone with someone not related by blood!

Somehow, her staying in the west room with Luo Xudong was the most reasonable...

With this conclusion, Beisitian found herself speechless for a long time.

After a long day, Beisitian was too tired to stay awake and had to accept Luo Xudong’s suggestion of each taking one side!

Luo Xudong looked at Beisitian’s conflicted little face, finding her more and more endearing, lost in the sight.

”Mr. Zhou!”

Beisitian felt uncomfortable under his gaze, experiencing a strong urge to stare back and make him uncomfortable too. Yet, which proper young lady would stare intently at a grown man!

Beisitian always felt a bit off-kilter around Luo Xudong.

”I can hear you,” Luo Xudong laughed.

They had a similar exchange not long ago. Back then, he had wondered when he could openly face Beisitian, and now his wish had come true—a sentiment that made him reflect.

Beisitian pressed her lips tightly, her beautiful almond eyes staring at him.

Luo Xudong quickly raised his hand in surrender, ”Alright, it’s been a long day, let’s rest early.” Saying this, he considerately reached out to pull the lamp cord.

With no light, Beisitian’s tensed body suddenly relaxed. In the dark, she wasn’t as self-conscious about getting onto the kang.

Beside her, Luo Xudong lay flat, fully clothed, slightly tilting his head to look at her. His night vision was quite good; he could see her face relax by the moonlight, causing the corners of his lips to lift slightly.
