I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 166: Chapter 165: There’s a Call for You

Although the age of these ginseng slices cannot be determined, Beisitian estimated that they must be at least five or six hundred years old, otherwise they wouldn’t have such a significant restorative effect on her.

Beisitian first went to check the temporary isolation ward. Although the family members were somewhat emotional, it was still within controllable limits, so she returned home first. She needed to make a talisman for her own restoration; otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to help others.

By using the ginseng slices, Beisitian’s spirit could not only recover to its previous state but would also become more abundant after a few days of consumption. Hence, she could continue treating Luo Anguo’s leg and had the energy to make talismanic water for those with pulmonary diseases.

Mrs. Qin watched Beisitian return home looking slightly exhausted. After a brief rest in the western room, she went back to the temporary isolation ward.

”This child has already stayed out for the second night,” Mrs. Qin murmured as she heard the door close.

Luo Anguo carefully stepped over a dip in the floor, supported by the cabinet, and said, ”Find some time to ask her. This child has great skills, but she’s still too young. We don’t want her to be deceived.”

Both of them thought that Beisitian might have someone she liked outside. While nothing untoward might happen before marriage, they were still worried she was too inexperienced to resist sweet talk.

Mrs. Qin’s face grew melancholic. Once the daughter is married, they won’t be able to see her as often.

”You mustn’t show this expression in front of the child. She’s deeply sentimental, and we can’t hold her back. Besides, with your eyes healed and my legs functioning well, we can’t constrain her any longer!”

The redness welled in Mrs. Qin’s eyes as she felt like Beisitian was about to leave.

”Look at you, what’s there to shed tears over,” Luo Anguo said with a look of amusement, although he felt a twinge of sadness inside.

Mrs. Qin wiped her tears, lowered her head, and returned to her chores in silence.

Beisitian drank some talismanic water herself, closed her eyes to gather her strength, and then got up to create the healing Xuan Talisman for pneumonia.

This Xuan Talisman was different from the one used to treat Wu Yuekai. Although it didn’t work immediately, it was excellent at inhibiting the virus spread and controlling the disease from worsening.

After careful consideration, Beisitian chose this method. Even if there were no new patients, there were currently eight who needed treatment.

It was difficult for Beisitian to have enough energy to treat so many people at once.

When Beisitian arrived, a wife and an elderly lady were emotionally upset, yelling at Yang Wulang.

”Didn’t you say you could cure the disease? Why hasn’t anyone been treated yet?” The wife was almost reaching out to grab Yang Wulang.

The old lady also cried out in front of Yang Wulang, ”Wulang, tell me the truth, is there anyone here treating them?”

”Yes, yes, yes, when have I ever lied to you folks, just hold on, isn’t Little Tian’er busy with something... ah, she’s here!” Yang Wulang became even more excited than them when he spotted Beisitian, striding over to her.

”Where have you been, madam? You disappeared in the blink of an eye,” Yang Wulang fretted, his lips breaking out in boils from anxiety.

”I went back to prepare medicine,” Beisitian said as she headed toward the isolation ward building.

Guo Jianye, along with some hunters, guarded the entrance. Fifty meters in front of the door, two large pots were set up, where Mrs. Guo and Li Mengxia spent most of their time.

The old lady and the wife who were causing a fuss at Yang Wulang were making trouble at the entrance for being stopped from entering, claiming no one was treating their relatives.

The hearts of people are emotional; with family inside and the future uncertain, it’s impossible to remain calm.

As Beisitian hadn’t completely recovered, she didn’t feel like talking much, leaving this to Yang Wulang and entering the room alone.

Inside, only she and Yang Wulang were allowed to enter.

After entering, Beisitian first checked on Guo Jianye’s nephew, Guo Mingyang, who was still burning with fever, his face flushed red. The towel on his forehead was recently changed by Yang Wulang.

With only Yang Wulang looking after eight people, it was really too much for him alone. It seemed they needed to increase the number of caretakers.

Thinking this, Beisitian gave Guo Mingyang some talismanic water to drink.

The talismanic water she prepared was just for today’s amount, distributed among the eight patients, then she handed the Lung Medicine over to Yang Wulang.

”This medicine I bought from Jishi Pharmacy, charge it at the current price of Jishi Pharmacy, I’ll cover the transportation and delivery costs,” Beisitian said.

Yang Wulang saw Beisitian carrying a large cardboard box, opening it to reveal it was full of Lung Medicine.

”Did you go to town just to get these medicines?” Yang Wulang was surprised.

These medicines weren’t cheap, they must cost over two hundred, considering the Luo Er family’s improved condition; otherwise, where would Beisitian have had the money to upfront the cost?

”Yes, I leave this matter to Uncle Yang,” Beisitian said.

Yang Wulang nodded quickly, noticing that Beisitian was extremely exhausted, more so than when she had just returned from town, clearly weary from preparing the medicine.

”Quickly go back and rest, leave the rest to me!” Yang Wulang insisted.

He never considered that Beisitian was obligated to fund the medicines, so he thought, wherever there was medicine used, the money must be collected.

”Uncle Yang, find two more people to help you, find strong and healthy ones, not from the patients’ families, and offer wages. If anyone is willing, have them come to me first for the medicine,” Beisitian instructed.

Yang Wulang agreed to everything, urging her again to go back and rest.

After returning home, Beisitian slept until the next day.

When she woke up, Yang Wulang had brought two people over: a woman in her fifties and a young girl around eighteen or nineteen.

Both of them were in good health, full of energy, and hadn’t fallen ill often. They had volunteered to come.

According to Beisitian’s terms, each would be paid two yuan a day.

This price was not insignificant for ordinary folks, but they were tending to infectious patients, so the pay wasn’t considered too high.

”Aunt, who else is in your family?” Beisitian asked the woman in her fifties.

That woman was surnamed Li, and Yang Wulang called her Aunt Li.

”It’s just me and my husband, our daughter is married off, and our son and daughter-in-law work outside. They take care of their own kids,” Aunt Li replied with a kind face and a hearty smile.

Beisitian asked a few more questions, learning that her husband had mobility issues, so taking care wasn’t a problem for him.

The young girl was quite mature, willing to take this risk to earn money for her dowry, as her family had no extra finances to spare.

Beisitian was quite pleased with both of them, gave them the talismanic water, and sent them to the isolation ward directly.

”Little Tian’er, who will pay the two yuan a day?” Yang Wulang asked with a bitter smile.

Before Beisitian could answer, the loudspeaker at the community center suddenly blared.

”Beisitian! Beisitian! There’s a phone call for you, quickly come and answer the phone.”
