I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 164: Chapter 163: The Temperature Has Dropped

After forming the Spiritual Talisman, Beisitian’s face was deathly pale; the spirit consumed this time was more than ever before!

She forced herself to make the talismanic water, already feeling dizzy and lightheaded. She knew she had to make Wu Yuekai drink it, otherwise, others might not let the old commander drink it.

Beisitian walked to the bedside, propped Wu Yuekai’s head up a bit, and still used the throat massage technique to help him drink the entire cup of talismanic water.

Once he drank it all, the tension in Beisitian’s body released in an instant, her hands trembled slightly, unable to hold the cup anymore.

The cup fell to the ground, making a crisp sound, immediately alarming the people outside.

Two orderlies rushed in, followed by Li Xuejun, who upon entering, saw Beisitian collapsed on the ground, with the broken glass cup underneath her!

All three were shocked, and the two orderlies quickly moved to help her up, seeing some blood stains on her front, caused by the glass shards.

”This Beisitian, really! I don’t even know what to say to her!” Li Xuejun was furious, it was obvious she had fed the old commander her homemade medicine!

Li Xuejun hadn’t thought she would do such a thing, especially since the old commander had been comatose and the orderlies couldn’t even feed medicines, let alone others. That’s why they let her in, not expecting she would still find a way to feed him the medicine!

Li Xuejun couldn’t blame her now, she was unconscious, and they had no idea what had happened until she woke up.

”Why did she faint?” Li Xuejun asked when the two orderlies came out of the room.

The two orderlies were not doctors, but it was obvious Beisitian fainted from exhaustion, but what could have caused it?

From when she entered Wu Yuekai’s room to when she was found, it was only about seven or eight minutes. What could she have done in that time to utterly exhaust herself?

This was truly a perplexing question.

Li Xuejun thought Beisitian was really causing trouble, as the old commander had been unconscious since he started having a fever, and now there was also Beisitian, leaving him with a severe headache.

Yesterday, the courtyard was noisy, with a group of doctors wanting to take the old commander back. But the journey would be too much for him to handle, so the head doctor called to say he should stay here and wait for him.

Today, just when things were getting quiet, something like this happened.

Li Xuejun was worried because Beisitian had obviously fed the old commander something. Normally, this should be reported, but since Beisitian meant well, she would get into serious trouble if he reported it.

Reporting this issue was part of Li Xuejun’s job, but if he didn’t report it and something happened, he would be responsible!

”She’s really so good at causing trouble!” Li Xuejun said, holding the phone, and finally put it down with a snap, ”Wait until tomorrow when she wakes up to ask.”

Since Li Xuejun was in charge of the old commander’s daily activities in the courtyard, even those with the same rank listened to him.

Li Xuejun asked other comrades to take care of Beisitian, as they all knew the old commander valued her highly, and thus were extra careful.

The two orderlies remained in the old commander’s room, measuring his temperature every two hours and keeping records, waiting for the attending doctor Tao Hailin’s arrival.

Orderly Tian Fang took out the thermometer, looked at it, and then picked up a pen to write down 38.8° on the record sheet. She then paused and quickly looked at the thermometer again.

”Sister Chen, come look, the old commander’s temperature has dropped below 39°!” Tian Fang exclaimed with delight.

Chen Jingzhi was just about to scold her for being loud but ran over quickly to see when she heard, taking the thermometer to look. It had indeed dropped.

Previously, the old commander’s temperature had been above 39.5°, reaching up to 40° at its peak, which was terrifying!

Chen Jingzhi worried Tian Fang might not have placed the thermometer correctly, so she shook it down and measured the old commander’s temperature again.

The result quickly came out nearly identical to earlier, and both became delighted.

Because nighttime measurements were also necessary, Chen Jingzhi and Tian Fang took shifts, measuring every two hours as required by attending doctor Tao Hailin, ensuring compliance.

That night, Tian Fang was on duty, and at the two-hour mark, she promptly took the old commander’s temperature. The result surprised her again; it was now 38.2°!

It had dropped again!

Afraid she might have made a mistake, Tian Fang measured again out of caution, and the result was the same.

Tian Fang was intensely curious, wondering whether the old commander was really getting better?

Her curiosity kept her from feeling too sleepy all night, and by morning, with her last measurement before handing over to Chen Jingzhi, the old commander’s temperature had returned to normal.

Upon hearing Tian Fang’s report, Chen Jingzhi found it inconceivable, but the evident results showed the old commander’s face was normal, and his brow and body weren’t hot anymore, which meant he truly wasn’t feverish!

”What’s going on?” Chen Jingzhi murmured to herself. Could viral pneumonia really resolve on its own? She had never heard of such a thing.

Li Xuejun, who heard the news, looked at the old commander’s condition, realizing something. The old commander had been diagnosed with viral pneumonia, a condition with no self-healing cases documented, and his sudden recovery wasn’t likely to be natural.

It seemed that since Beisitian came, the old commander’s condition began to improve.

Li Xuejun immediately thought, could it be because of the medicine Beisitian gave?

So many medical experts and professors studied for so long to make progress, and could a village girl like Beisitian have easily solved it?

Li Xuejun felt the world seemed unreal.

Beisitian remained unconscious, not knowing how to handle the situation, he could only send a message to her family using the previous method.

”Water... give me water...” A very weak voice came from the bed, pulling the trio back to reality.

Li Xuejun was overjoyed; the old commander had awakened!

Tian Fang quickly poured some hot water, mixed it with cooled boiled water, and brought it to Wu Yuekai’s mouth when the temperature was just right.

Wu Yuekai drank down half the cup of water, then lay back down. In Li Xuejun’s gentle urgings, he slowly opened his eyes.

Wu Yuekai opened his eyes, and suddenly, the image of the girl dancing in a green glow from his dream flashed in his mind, feeling that it wasn’t a dream.

”What happened?” Wu Yuekai asked.

With Wu Yuekai awake, the courtyard regained its backbone. Li Xuejun, with a choked voice, reported the past few days’ situation to the old commander.

He added a phrase at the end, telling him that Beisitian was also here and for some reason she had fainted.

Upon hearing this, Wu Yuekai slightly turned, supporting himself on the bed with his elbow, ”Then I’m going to see her.”

Li Xuejun was startled and quickly but gently pressed the old commander down, ”Old Commander, you can’t, you’re not fully recovered yourself, if you catch a cold what will we do, you’re not fully well yet!”
