I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 173: Chapter 172: The Atmosphere While Changing Dressings

Beisitian didn’t go directly to the town; she first visited the courtyard house. When she arrived, Wu Yuekai was practicing calligraphy in the study as usual, looking quite good in spirits.

”How do you feel?” Beisitian asked.

”Completely fine now, not only fine, but I feel my whole body is much more relaxed than before.” Wu Yuekai laughed heartily, his laughter full of energy.

Seeing this, Beisitian felt slightly relieved. Wu Yuekai’s health was very poor, and to really improve it would take considerable time.

”Girl...” Wu Yuekai looked at Beisitian, hesitated to speak. Since waking up, he frequently had a vision in his mind, of a young woman gracefully waving her arms in a green light.

Even from the side view, Wu Yuekai could recognize that the woman was Beisitian.

But that scene was somewhat detached from reality, and he often wondered if it might be a dream.

”What is it?” Beisitian asked, noticing he didn’t speak.

Wu Yuekai didn’t know how to ask about such things. He shook his head slightly and changed the subject, ”The medicines you gave me all seem different in their effects, why are they all transparent and tasteless?”

”That’s a unique feature of my medicine preparation.” Beisitian was not keen to explain.

”My attending doctor also gives me such colorless and tasteless medicine. Someday you should meet each other.” Wu Yuekai said with gleaming eyes.

His attending doctor was not an ordinary person; Beisitian’s medicine was not only similar to his but remarkably effective.

”Okay.” Beisitian smiled.

”Are you going to the town, girl?” Wu Yuekai took a cup of clear water from Beisitian and drank it without hesitating.

”Yes, going to Jishi Pharmacy.” Beisitian casually said.

Wu Yuekai didn’t show any extra reaction, just put down the cup, nodded, and began talking about other topics, without mentioning whether she had seen through Luo Xudong.

After a couple of exchanges, Beisitian said, ”Old man, you can’t stay up late anymore. Here, take this, drink it before bed, it helps with sleep. Eat light meals, avoid greasy and oily foods; they’re bad for the stomach.”

She still intended to help Wu Yuekai with his health improvement as much as she could.

Wu Yuekai nodded in agreement.

After leaving the courtyard, Beisitian first went to Bao Niang Embroidery Workshop; Zhang Baoli mentioned that some embroidery women from Shanghai would be coming soon, hoping she could provide some guidance.

Beisitian agreed. Zhang Baoli further informed her that the screen’s price had already reached forty thousand; if she wanted to sell, she could consider buyers now.

Beisitian thought for a moment, planning to sell soon since she needed money for building a house.

After leaving Bao Niang Embroidery Workshop, Beisitian went to Jishi Pharmacy. Ma Xiaoling had recently been a bit free and promptly greeted Beisitian upon seeing her.

If not for her help last time, things might have gone quite awry.

”Miss Bei, just head over; Mr. Zhou is waiting for you.” Ma Xiaoling laughed.

Beisitian entered Luo Xudong’s study, where he was discussing matters with Ma Jian Country. Initially planning to wait, she then witnessed the two exchanging a few words before Ma Jian Country left.

Beisitian stepped into the study and saw the small jar on the table that she had given him last time. She reached out to take it, as it could be reused.

Just as her hand touched the small jar, a pair of large hands quickly snatched it.

Luo Xudong held the small jar, smiling, ”Is there a reason for taking back something given away?”

”I gave the medicine, not the jar.” Beisitian withdrew her hand.

”You didn’t mention that back then.” Luo Xudong smirked.

Beisitian was speechless, thinking that Luo Xudong seemed to be acting roguish.

”Mr. Zhou’s moustache is about to fall off.” Beisitian suddenly chuckled.

Luo Xudong was taken aback and touched the moustache, only to hear Beisitian laugh, ”Just kidding. Why so nervous, Mr. Zhou?”

Seeing Luo Xudong’s darkened expression, Beisitian nodded in satisfaction.

”Mr. Zhou, shouldn’t you settle the bill for the treatment I provided last time?” Beisitian said.

Luo Xudong chuckled lightly, ”Miss Bei doesn’t want to ask why I got injured?”

Beisitian shook her head, ”That’s Mr. Zhou’s business. Ma Xiaoling invited me here for medical treatment; I won’t pry into patients’ privacy.”

Hearing this, Luo Xudong smiled slightly at Beisitian’s intelligence and sensibility.

”I called Doctor Bei today to change my dressing.” Luo Xudong’s tone was a bit awkward.

Beisitian heard this and looked away, ”Haven’t changed yet?”

She actually guessed it hadn’t been changed but suddenly didn’t know what to say.

”No, I couldn’t reach it, nor do I want others to help.”

”Sit on that chair,” Beisitian pointed to the chair against the wall, feeling it was too close to the window, risking cold and being seen.

Luo Xudong obediently sat over and began to unbutton.

Seeing him do this, Beisitian felt bashful, deliberately took a sip of tea to mask her embarrassment.

Luo Xudong quickly took off his shirt, occasionally glancing outside.

The place he sat was somewhat secluded in the study, invisible through the glass windows.

Since she came with medicine, she would have changed his dressing without his request.

Luo Xudong took off his shirt, revealing a well-built physique with no excess fat, only lightly defined muscles ready to burst.

Beisitian held her breath, constantly reminding herself that this was just a patient; attending to a patient shouldn’t involve too much thought.

Perhaps due to self-hypnosis, Beisitian finally focused her gaze on the wound.

The wound had scabbed over, with new tender skin peeking through where the scab had fallen.

Beisitian dabbed medicine powder on her fingers, preparing to apply along the scar’s lines. Her fingertips had just touched his back when a rush of electricity quickly coursed through her body.

Not only her, but Luo Xudong also felt it, freezing both of them in place.

Beisitian’s fingertips pressed against his back; after a pause, her fingers resumed moving while a slight blush appeared on her face.

The sensation touching Luo Xudong felt different from others.

Luo Xudong felt the warmth and softness on his back, his heart softened entirely, wanting to turn back but feared breaking the mood.

Beisitian looked at Luo Xudong with his upper body exposed. Though he faced away from her, she still felt quite awkward, inwardly smiling wryly, she had seen men’s injuries in past lives, why couldn’t she handle this one?

Luo Xudong turned his back to her; she couldn’t see his expression, but from his slightly tense back, he wasn’t entirely at ease either, which made Beisitian feel better.

At least she wasn’t the only one feeling uneasy.
