I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 161: Chapter 160: Taking the Initiative

Isolation?

Upon hearing this, Guo Jianye’s face immediately darkened. In the village, and even the town clinic, isolation often meant waiting for death!

How could he possibly let his father and nephew be sent off to die!

Yang Wulang thought the same. In a place like theirs, isolation meant waiting for death as they didn’t have the urban medical standards and facilities.

”You can isolate whoever you want, but not my family. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving.” Guo Jianye did not want to waste any more time here.

Yang Wulang lowered his head in silence, wondering if Beisitian was planning to give up on those who were sick.

Actually, this was the right approach so far, but it was extremely cruel.

Mrs. Qin suddenly blocked the door and looked at Guo Jianye, ”My Little Tian’er hasn’t finished talking yet.”

She knew Beisitian’s nature was not to speak lightly. If Guo Jianye left and said something outside, who knows how it would be interpreted.

”Sister-in-law, what are you doing?” Guo Jianye was a bit angry when he saw Mrs. Qin stopping him.

”Brother Jianye, wait a bit. It’s not too late to leave after Little Tian’er finishes speaking.” Luo Anguo said calmly from the side.

Guo Jianye was truly surprised now. What was going on with everyone that they needed to listen to Little Tian’er!

”Little Tian’er, what do you intend?” Yang Wulang lifted his head, holding onto a last shred of hope.

Beisitian didn’t understand what they meant, ”Isolation, of course. If you don’t isolate, aren’t you waiting to infect others? How can treatment proceed without isolation?”

”Treatment?” Yang Wulang stood up abruptly, ”You’re saying it can be cured?”

This time it was Beisitian who was surprised, ”Why can’t it be cured? It’s just that I can’t do it alone; it has to be done gradually.”

Yang Wulang immediately cracked a smile. Earlier, seeing Beisitian not speaking, he thought she had no solution, but he knew that if there was any hope, it would definitely be with Beisitian!

”Isolation, isolate right now! Little Tian’er, tell us what to do!” Yang Wulang was no longer as downcast as before.

”Find a place that can accommodate the infected, preferably outside the village but not too far away.” Beisitian said.

She had been pondering this issue since yesterday. Pneumonia itself was not something that could be cured immediately, so it would be better to progress steadily and control the illness first, since she couldn’t just ignore Luo Anguo’s side.

”For this, we’ll need Uncle Guo’s help.” Beisitian turned to Guo Jianye.

Guo Jianye was a bit embarrassed now. He didn’t expect Beisitian to say that isolation was meant for treatment. Luckily, Beisitian didn’t take it to heart, or he would have been really embarrassed.

”Alright, what do you need help with? I can find a place, in the woods to the east. There used to be a lookout post there which was later abandoned and unused, it can be put to use.” Guo Jianye said.

”No time to waste, if Uncle Guo can get a few hunters to help, that would be best. No one else should go there; we need to get it cleaned up quickly.” Beisitian said.

Yang Wulang and Guo Jianye nodded. Both had a sense of righteousness and personal interest, worrying about the fate of Kao Village and their own families.

Guo Jianye went to find some hunters he was familiar with to clean up the place, while Yang Wulang, under Beisitian’s instruction, went to Director Xu’s house.

Convincing Director Xu was crucial to better execute the isolation.

When Yang Wulang arrived, Director Xu was already worried about the situation. This viral pneumonia had come fiercely, and schools in Qingzhou City had already been closed. Any patients with fever were immediately isolated, and the city hospital was overcrowded.

The situation in Qingzhou Town was a bit better but not by much. The town government was already preparing to close schools and had sent out notices that any fever cases in villages and townships must be isolated immediately to prevent the spread of the disease!

Director Xu himself was from Kao Village, and he knew the village customs all too well. If he dared to isolate someone, the villagers would definitely make trouble for him!

It wasn’t a matter of authority. No one could stand to watch their family being sent to wait for death. If it were him, his awareness wouldn’t be any better than the villagers’ either.

So when he heard Yang Wulang mention isolation first, he sighed. He wanted to do that too.

”Director Xu, Jianye has already gathered hunters to clean up the place. It should be ready by afternoon or evening. When you say the word, we’ll move people there as soon as possible.” Yang Wulang said.

”What?” Director Xu almost wanted to dig in his ears. Did he hear wrong? Guo Jianye was gathering people to clean up a place?

He knew that there were two fever cases in Guo’s family, and Guo Jianye’s nephew was almost certain to be one of them. Would he actively clean up a place and send people for isolation?

”What exactly is going on?” Director Xu was bewildered.

Seeing this, Yang Wulang quickly explained, ”Our village’s Little Tian’er, Beisitian from Luo Er’s family, can treat this illness. Once people are isolated, she can slowly treat them.”

Director Xu was silent for a moment. Beisitian could treat viral pneumonia?

This kind of talk might deceive a three-year-old, but how could he believe it? Not even Beisitian, but all the professors and experts in those big hospitals were still researching a vaccine without any results yet.

However, regardless of that, people willing to be isolated was good news. So, Director Xu did not question it and immediately began organizing people to persuade families with symptoms of early summer fever.

Of course, the reason given was that there was someone in the village who could cure the disease. Xu Youcai had no choice; with policies coming from above, he had to find a way to execute them. Moreover, isolating a few was being responsible for the majority. Otherwise, should they wait for all of Kao Village to be wiped out?

Yang Wulang went along as well. With a village director and the village doctor both saying the same thing, more people were naturally convinced. After all, who wouldn’t want their family to be saved?

Guo Jianye was notably swift. Before nightfall, the place was tidied up. According to Beisitian’s instructions, two large rooms were partitioned into small rooms using wooden boards, each with a window.

The bedding and all the necessary toiletries were provided by their own households, and meals would be prepared by someone specifically.

Having calculated everything, Yang Wulang found Beisitian, hoping she could also oversee the process to ensure that the non-infected didn’t end up living there and getting infected in the end.

That night, the place was ready. Guo Jianye’s father and nephew were the first to move in due to arriving early, and they picked two good spots.

”There needs to be someone to take care of them!” Mrs. Guo’s hair had turned greyer, and she wanted to go inside, following her son. Inside was her husband and her grandson, and it didn’t matter which one, she couldn’t just wait outside.

”Mom, don’t go in! It’s called isolation for a reason; you can’t just let people in!” Guo Jianye stopped his mother.

”They’re lying on the kang, unaware of anything. How can they manage without anyone looking after them?” This was the wife from the Li family of the bricklayer, coming with the second batch. Her son was infected.
