I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 194: Chapter 193: Glorious Military Family Title

Luo Xudong strode up to Luo Anguo and his wife, fell to his knees with a thump, and kowtowed three times.

”Your son has been unfilial, letting you suffer!” Luo Xudong’s handsome face softened from its earlier sternness, and there was a faint hint of tears in his sharp eyes.

Since he joined the army, he hadn’t shed a single tear, but seeing his father with gray hair and unsteady steps, and his mother’s aged face, his heart was filled with a mix of sorrow and emotion.

Mrs. Qin hurried over, held Luo Xudong, and cried out loud. The grievances and hardships of these years vanished at the sight of her son!

Luo Anguo also slowly approached them and cried with them.

Whether they were seated villagers or those watching the spectacle, seeing this scene, they couldn’t help but tear up.

Luo Anping watched his parents cry and wanted to cry along, but Beisitian held his hand and smiled at him.

Li Xuejun saw Wu Yuekai still in the sun, glanced at the military commander, and seeing him shake his head, said nothing more.

Wu Yuekai certainly wouldn’t disturb them; after five or six years apart, believed to be separated by life and death, both sides had suffered greatly. How could this reunion not be met with a joyful cry?

In the crowd watching, Zhang Lianqiao was shocked at seeing Luo Xudong return victoriously, her eyes gleaming—he was still as outstanding and handsome as ever!

Beisitian, worried about Mrs. Qin’s eyes and not wanting Wu Yuekai to stay in the sun, walked over, squatted down, and whispered, ”Mother, he’s just back, let’s go inside first.”

Others’ words might not work, but Beisitian’s did, and Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo slowly stopped crying.

Beisitian glanced at Luo Xudong and noticed he was looking at her, nodding to him.

Luo Xudong understood her meaning, helped his parents up, and looked at Wu Yuekai.

Wu Yuekai wasn’t just here to inform them early; he also planned to seize this opportunity to restore Luo Xudong’s reputation.

Wu Yuekai had a smile on his face; although his body had various ailments, his confidence was strong.

”Dear villagers, I’m Wu Yuekai, military commander of the 119th Mechanized Infantry Division of the 28th Army Group in the Kyoto Special Zone. Today, I’m here to welcome our triumphant hero, Luo Xudong. Luo Xudong is an exceptionally outstanding comrade, and he’s earned a first-class merit for our army!”

Wu Yuekai briefly recounted Luo Xudong’s achievements, only to justify his name; many couldn’t imagine the challenges and hardships involved!

Luo Xudong didn’t just accomplish them; he did it outstandingly, achieving the greatest results with minimal casualties!

He didn’t let down the expectations the army had placed on him!

Wu Yuekai’s words cleared the doubts of those present, and the villagers of Kao Village finally understood that Luo Xudong was not a fugitive but a hero—an excellent soldier!

Those who used to ridicule Luo Er’s family for having such a son, those who used to use Luo Xudong as a negative example, were all slapped in the face—crisp and loud!

The seated villagers originally felt the dishes on the table quite good, but now, they were not in the mood because their minds were not on eating anymore.

Luo Xudong’s return was a great shock and stimulation to the still somewhat calm Kao Village; Luo Er’s family was truly living a dramatic life!

Many finally understood why the recent events happened to Luo Er’s family; Luo Xudong’s mission might not be unrelated.

In any typical family, Luo Xudong might have been a threat by now, but Beisitian’s strong way of resolving the issue not only avoided burdening Luo Xudong but also captured some fleeing stragglers!

Back in the house, Wu Yuekai smiled and said, ”Thanks to the girl and both of you, those stragglers were captured, so the higher-ups decided to award the title ’Glorious Family’ and you will receive certificates soon.”

Li Xuejun spoke up, ”The ’Glorious Family’ certificate is different from the ’Warrior’s Family Glory Certificate’; it’s specially awarded to families of soldiers who have earned merits!”

Upon hearing this, Wu Yuekai glanced at Beisitian unconsciously. Seeing she showed no unusual reaction, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The reason for awarding Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo was to prevent only Beisitian from being recognized, which might reveal the truth to her.

This honorary title is usually given to a soldier’s direct relatives, which means parents, children, and spouses.

Beisitian, of course, received it as an honorary fiancée, and the army also approved their marriage application already.

This matter was still pending since Beisitian and Luo Xudong hadn’t got their certificates; considering Luo Xudong’s special circumstances and Wu Yuekai’s mediation, the application and honorary certificate were approved.

Luo Xudong himself was not aware of this; he had submitted his marriage application before going on a mission, but it wasn’t approved due to his age. This time, Wu Yuekai cleverly altered the age and resubmitted it.

Wu Yuekai felt he truly was destined to worry about things.

These two clearly had feelings for each other yet were reluctant to express them openly. He wondered if the girl noticed her own feelings at all.

Beisitian didn’t understand, but Luo Xudong’s gaze looked over. ’Glorious Family’ indeed requires merits to be earned, and ordinary achievements aren’t enough. This title is notoriously hard to approve, and the military commander managed to apply for it.

The difficulty in approval wasn’t because Beisitian’s achievements weren’t enough, but because she and he hadn’t got their certificates, thus not considered direct relatives.

However, with this, if Beisitian doesn’t marry him, it violates regulations and risks being disciplined, and Beisitian might even be suspected of deception.

Meeting Luo Xudong’s questioning gaze, Wu Yuekai almost twisted his nonexistent beard in annoyance. This kid, how does he not appreciate the gesture?

Luo Xudong glanced at Beisitian, knowing she was a self-reliant and independent girl with her own opinions. If this matter is kept hidden from her, the result might not turn out as the military commander wishes, but rather backfire.

But if he tells her, it seems to carry a tone of coercion.

The military commander indeed posed a difficult problem for him!

Beisitian felt Luo Xudong’s gaze, looked up, and met his deep, contemplative eyes. Their gazes collide, and it seemed as if a string within them was plucked.

Luo Xudong was clear about his own feelings; he wanted to capture Beisitian’s heart.
