I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 152: Chapter 151: Something’s Off with the Eyebrows

Beisitian has been spending day and night with Zhou Jiren these days, knowing that he is a very alert person. If there’s a slight noise outside from the wolf dogs, he will wake up, so she doesn’t dare to keep staring at him now.

However, upon getting closer, his eyebrows were very noticeable, with a bluish tinge on top of them.

These are new eyebrows growing!

Beisitian’s heart was pounding as she recalled the last time she saw Zhou Jiren in the courtyard. On the previous night and the next morning, Zhou Jiren looked somewhat different; back then, there was some redness and swelling on his eyebrows. She had suspected he had done something to his eyebrows.

It turns out, it really is so!

Beisitian held her breath, feeling she had discovered something extraordinary. Although she told herself this had nothing to do with her and to not delve further, a strange feeling drove her to continue exploring.

Beisitian looked at the bluish tinge, lifted her hand in the air to cover the drooping ends of his eyebrows. If following the direction of the bluish shadow, his eyebrows should look like this!

Covering the drooping ends of the eyebrows in the air, Beisitian suddenly felt they looked familiar. Could it be that she had seen Zhou Jiren’s original appearance?

Beisitian’s gaze involuntarily fell on the little moustache. When she first met him, she felt the little moustache seemed out of place, but at the time she just thought about it casually.

Beisitian again reached out and used a finger to cover up the little moustache in the air.

After covering it, Beisitian felt it looked even more familiar, and she secretly drew in her mind that, if according to the bluish shadow, Zhou Jiren’s appearance would be much more proper than now!

Just drawing in the mind always felt a bit unsatisfactory, so Beisitian picked up a thin twig and gently began to draw on the ground.

She drew very lightly, worried about startling Zhou Jiren.

Beisitian’s drawing skills were quite good, especially notable in portrait drawing. So when she redrew Zhou Jiren, her heart raced; she really had seen Zhou Jiren!

Beisitian carefully studied the drawing on the ground, her heart was greatly shocked, and she couldn’t help but think of the colorful photo she had seen.

She naturally remembered the person in the photo since it was her first time seeing a colorful photo.

Zhou Jiren... is actually the deceased Luo Xudong!

”Miss Bei.”

A deep voice came from behind, startling Beisitian. She swept her hand over the drawing, erasing it from the ground.

Zhou Jiren opened his eyes and looked at Beisitian, staring at her with a somewhat guilty conscience.

”Did I wake you?” Beisitian smiled faintly, trying to remain calm.

”What are you doing?”

”Couldn’t sleep. Just doodling some herbs. These need to be reviewed often, otherwise they can be forgotten too.”

Zhou Jiren stared at Beisitian, feeling she was acting a bit off, but he couldn’t discern anything from her demeanor.

”Get some rest early. We have to get up early tomorrow.” Zhou Jiren said before turning to lie down.

Whether he really fell asleep, Beisitian didn’t know, but she couldn’t fall asleep, as scenarios flashed in her mind, leading to a revelation of the whole matter.

Luo Xudong didn’t die, nor was he a deserter who fled the battlefield. Beisitian thought about his deeds at the courtyard and could affirm he is still a soldier!

This explained all the incomprehensible things about Zhou Jiren!

Zhou Jiren, who is actually Luo Xudong, must have had to fake his death to execute a mission!

Beisitian also believed that Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo definitely didn’t know about this. If he hid it even from his parents, it surely wasn’t an ordinary mission!

After sorting through these matters, Beisitian breathed a huge sigh of relief. No matter what, Luo Xudong was her husband by name, and having ’intimacies’ with her own husband was really nothing, allowing her to unload the heavy psychological burden.

Thinking back to the joyous moments of talking with Luo Xudong, Beisitian couldn’t help but feel a thousand emotions. She actually came to know Luo Xudong under these circumstances!

The word ’destiny’ flashed through her mind.

Thinking about this, she suddenly recalled how Luo Xudong always inquired about her family matters, probably realizing he had recognized her.

When did he recognize her...

Beisitian thought back and remembered that satchel; he had said he had an identical one, while Ma Jian Country said he was an overseas returnee, so it was impossible for his family to have been soldiers.

Turns out it’s from then.

No wonder he was nervous when looking for medicine several times.

It seemed Luo Xudong indeed hadn’t contacted home at all, even ’Luo Xudong’ was truly ’dead’ these years, replaced by Zhou Jiren living.

So he couldn’t inquire about his family’s situation, hence he didn’t know about the changes at home.

Because Zhou Jiren’s real identity was revealed, Beisitian sorted out many things in her heart. After clearing up in her mind, sleepiness overwhelmed her and she fell asleep in a daze.

Upon waking in the morning, she smelled the alluring fragrance and saw Zhou Jiren roasting fish by the stream outside the cave.

She walked to the stream to wash up briefly and was handed a fragrant roast fish.

”Thank you.” Beisitian smiled and took the fish.

Since knowing he was Luo Xudong, she no longer felt any barriers in her heart. However, considering the potential lurking crisis around him, Beisitian didn’t intend to recognize him.

At this moment, her impression of Luo Xudong changed significantly; for making such big sacrifices for country and people, Luo Xudong’s spirit and qualities elevated to a higher level, earning her admiration.

”How did you sleep last night?” Luo Xudong asked with a smile.

”Alright.”

”Alright?” Luo Xudong looked at her dark circles and wanted to ask what happened to her last night, but had no grounds to do so, nor could he imprudently inquire.

Beisitian smiled slightly, ”Let’s head back.”

On the return trip, since they didn’t need to search for herbs anymore, their pace was very fast, reaching Zhou Tian’s territory by the next evening.

The wolf dogs here were very familiar, so there was no need to worry about any danger.

Zhou Tian brewed a pot of hot soup for them to drink, frequently glancing at Luo Xudong during this period.

Luo Xudong looked over, and Zhou Tian smiled, ”This friend looks somewhat familiar.”

”Really?”

”Haha, resembles a lad in our village somewhat, though the age difference is substantial.” Zhou Tian laughed as he spoke.

Upon hearing this, Beisitian and Luo Xudong both felt a jolt in their hearts. Zhou Tian had been away from the community for so long, yet he still remembered what Luo Xudong looked like as a youth. Not only that, he sensed the resemblance at first sight.

No wonder Luo Xudong didn’t dare return to the village!

All he altered was his eyebrows, added some moustache, with age changing as well, but if it was someone very familiar, they could still tell something.

If Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo were here, they could probably recognize their son at a glance.
