I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 192: Chapter 191: A Red Flag Sedan Arrives

When the couple finished crying, Beisitian slowly began to recount the story of how she met Luo Xudong.

The two listened as if they were hearing a story.

After Beisitian finished, Mrs. Qin asked in surprise, ”So at first, you didn’t know he was Xudong?”

”Yes, if it weren’t for that time I went to the mountains to collect medicine for Dad, I might not have known even now that he was Luo Xudong. Naturally, I wasn’t prepared for this encounter, so it can be said that Dad contributed a bit to this as well,” Beisitian said with a smile.

Luo Anguo couldn’t help but smile bitterly, he didn’t feel worthy of this credit.

The couple marveled for quite a while, saying that the connection between the two was fated, and under such circumstances, they still managed to get to know each other. It must be fate forged over many lifetimes!

”By the way, the day after tomorrow, we’re putting up the roof, maybe we should delay it?” Mrs. Qin suddenly remembered and said quickly.

Beisitian shook her head and smiled, ”Isn’t this perfect? Double happiness! We’re inviting the workers to a feast anyway, I thought, why not set up a few more tables and hold a celebration banquet for him!”

”A celebration banquet! A celebration banquet sounds great!”

Beisitian’s suggestion was immediately agreed upon by the couple.

They couldn’t handle setting up the tables themselves, so they had to hire someone to do it, setting up large tents. Considering the weather is still hot, the tents had to be ventilated on all sides.

Luo Anguo and his wife were so excited these days that they couldn’t settle down to do anything, so most of the preparations were left to Beisitian.

They didn’t tell anyone about it as they had been through too many blows, and this matter was too sudden. Until they saw Luo Xudong himself, they wouldn’t say anything to anyone.

”Sister Qin, why do you need so many tables for your roof installation? Even we are invited, it’s too embarrassing!” Zhang Qiao Niang said with a smile.

Mrs. Qin grinned, ”We have a happy occasion in the family, so of course we need more tables!”

Zhang Qiao Niang couldn’t figure out what they were thinking. The Luo Er’s family had always been low-key, never flaunting anything, not even when building a house did they announce it everywhere. This sudden decision to set up a tent and invite everyone for a meal seemed strange.

Once the big tent is set up, even if they’re all relatives, friends, and neighbors, people usually bring their whole families, sometimes seven or eight people per family, not to mention those who come just to get a meal. Such a flowing banquet would require quite a number of tables!

Zhang Qiao Niang saw Mrs. Qin was very happy today, one could say thrilled, which was strange because, just a few days ago, she was still looking tired and worn out. Why was she suddenly so cheerful today?

Mrs. Qin was unwilling to say more, and Zhang Qiao Niang, of course, didn’t press further.

The restaurant handling the flowing banquet was one that Beisitian found in Qingzhou Town. It was more expensive, but the food quality and taste were much better than the small village restaurants nearby.

Early in the morning, the crane truck entered the village, and Luo Er’s family, four people, had been waiting nearby. Once the trucks for unloading arrived, they were ready to put up the roof.

There were quite a few houses being built in the village, and while the crane was a novelty, it wasn’t the first time people had seen one. Yet, many brought their children out to watch the big crane.

The noise from the crane and roofing was considerable. This kind of scene didn’t happen every year and attracted many people.

With Luo Er’s family doing the roofing, no one dared to make a fuss. Even if it was inconvenient for someone’s business, the most they did was mutter inwardly.

Once preparations were complete, the roofing didn’t take long. By around ten o’clock, it was pretty much settled.

After the crane and trucks left, the people from the Qingzhou Town restaurant began preparing to set up the tent and cook. They had been there for some time, but since the tent had to be set up on the village road, the crane had to leave first.

Luo Aiguo and Carpenter Liu each drove a donkey cart to block both sides of the village road. The road was closed for the day, as was customary for setting up tents in the village, so no one thought it was strange.

They couldn’t make it in time for lunch. Luo Anguo and his wife, along with Beisitian, didn’t have time to eat at noon, and neither did Luo Anping as he was helping the entire time.

The flowing banquet started after four in the afternoon because Beisitian required everything to be prepared on-site. She knew that some places pre-prepared everything to save time, but doing so was neither clean nor did it taste good.

In return, she paid the restaurant a bit extra.

Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo were restless all day, doing less work than the helpers. Many noticed something was off with them, and a few with good relations asked, but neither the couple said a thing.

”Little Tian’er, is it today?” Mrs. Qin pulled Beisitian aside where no one else was around and asked.

Beisitian nodded, ”It’s today.”

There shouldn’t be any other surprises.

”It’s already past four, why isn’t he here yet?” Mrs. Qin felt anxious, like weeds had grown in her heart, unable to settle down to do anything.

Only when she sees Luo Xudong in person will she believe this isn’t a dream.

”Don’t worry, he’ll come back,” Beisitian reassured her with a smile, gripping her hand.

The two were speaking in whispers when Zhang Qiao Niang jogged over, waving to them from afar. ”Sister Qin, Little Tian’er, hurry back, someone important has arrived at your house!”

Someone important?

Mrs. Qin was stunned, what important person? Where would her family know anyone important?

Zhang Qiao Niang looked at Beisitian, the visitor had arrived in a luxurious car!

Word has it that important people are inside!

Zhang Qiao Niang, though living in the village, knew about these matters too.

Thinking back to when Luo Er’s family was suddenly caught up in an incident involving a group of mysterious people, although that matter had passed, everyone was curious about what had happened.

Luo Er’s family hadn’t said a word about it; no one could get anything out of them. Many speculated that Beisitian had been unfaithful outside, causing trouble to come to their door.

But later, a group of soldiers came. According to the family’s information, a sergeant came that day!

To pull a platoon together at once, Beisitian must not be simple.

This matter became even more enigmatic. Now, during conversations, everyone discussed the affairs of Luo Er’s family over meals!

No matter how many people were scratching their heads over it, Luo Er’s family just wouldn’t talk. Even with their good relationship, Zhang Qiao Niang asked several times but couldn’t get anything out of them.

When Mrs. Qin and Beisitian arrived at the village road in front, Luo Anguo was talking to an elderly man in his sixties. Beisitian couldn’t help but laugh when she saw it was the old man who had arrived.

She had thought Wu Yuekai might come today, but she didn’t expect him to arrive before Luo Xudong.

She quickly went over, hoping the old man wasn’t bringing news of a delay.

”Girl, the old man came uninvited!” Wu Yuekai laughed heartily.

”Your visit is most welcome,” Beisitian replied with a smile.

Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo exchanged glances, seeing that the sergeant major seemed quite fond of Little Tian’er. Was this person perhaps the son’s superior she mentioned before?

”Grandpa!” Luo Anping squeezed out of the crowd and approached Wu Yuekai.

”Little guy, we meet again!” Wu Yuekai said with delight.
