Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 138: US$18 billion to acquire advanced steam turbine technology and production lineChapter 138: US$1.8 billion to acquire advanced steam turbine technology and production line

After intense negotiations and considerations, the total price of the two sets of GTZA-674 steam turbines and related technologies and production lines was finally determined to be US$1.8 million.

This is not a small amount, but for Lin Chenran, it is affordable.

Of this, $8000 million will be paid directly in cash to Kovlevich and others.

The remaining $1 million will need to be exchanged for light industrial goods.

Kovlevich and others knew that although the recovery rate of funds from selling these goods domestically would be slower, the profits they could obtain would be much greater than $1 million.

Within the borders of the Bear Country, there is a vast market demand for light industrial goods, which can bring in profits several times greater than the cost.

As for the $8000 million, part of it will be allocated to the design bureau of the GTZA-674 steam turbine as a thank you for their hard work.

Of course, most of the money will still flow into the pockets of the top leaders of the Russian Navy.

This transaction involves a huge amount of money, and all parties hope to get a piece of the pie.

As the middleman of this transaction, Kovlevich is undoubtedly one of the biggest beneficiaries.

He successfully brokered this huge deal and was rewarded handsomely.

In addition, his outstanding performance also won him the attention and appreciation of the navy’s top brass.

Overall, this transaction is a win-win situation.

Both parties benefit!
Lin Chenran obtained the advanced GTZA-674 steam turbine technology and production line, which will enable Yan Country to obtain advanced steam turbine technology and production lines.

Promoted the development of the entire Yan State Navy.

Kovlevich and others gained considerable economic benefits and also consolidated their positions in the army.

And received strong support from the top brass of the Soviet Navy.

After signing the contract, Lin Chenran suppressed his excitement and shook hands with Kovlevich with a smile.

“Thank you Davari for supporting me.”

Lin Chenran expressed his sincere gratitude.

”Lin, we will all benefit from each other. If you need any technology in the future, as long as it can be exported, we promise to get it for you.”

Kovlevich patted his chest and answered affirmatively.

It seems that Kovlevich and the forces behind him can ”get” the technology in the hands of the Russian bear.

Lin Chenran said jokingly: ”Kovlevich, you should at least give me some money back to buy the GTZA-674 steam turbine technology and production line. I have emptied my entire family assets and even have to borrow money from the bank.”

”If you hadn’t been willing to let me exchange goods, I wouldn’t know where to raise so much money.”

……

To celebrate the successful acquisition of the GTZA-674 steam turbine technology and its production line, Lin Chenran happily invited Kovlevich to go to the Red Romance Tavern to drink vodka.

He said with great enthusiasm: ”Enough!”

This undoubtedly made Kovlevich very excited.

There was a golden light in his eyes.

It would be a great pleasure to be able to achieve vodka freedom.

Lin Chenran revealed an important piece of news: tomorrow he will leave the Russian bear and embark on his journey back to Yan Country.

Although it was rushed, the mission was accomplished, so there was no need to stay in Russia.

The trip went so smoothly that I was able to negotiate the technology I needed right away.

The original plan was to spend a week communicating and negotiating with the Russian side and resolving the issue of introducing GTZA-674 steam turbine technology and production lines.

In less than three days, everything was settled smoothly.

Such efficient progress is truly incredible.

As night fell, Lin Chenran and Kovlevich enjoyed the happy time brought by vodka in the Red Romance Tavern.

While tasting the fine wine, they talked about the bright prospects of cooperation. …

Linjiang Province 077 Machinery Military Factory

As soon as Lin Chenran returned to the office, he received a call from a high-ranking naval official, Mr. Zhang.

”This……”

Calling for a check-in?
Lin Chenran picked up the telephone receiver on the desk.

Lin Chenran heard a hearty laugh: ”Lin boy, I didn’t expect you to obtain the GTZA-674 steam turbine technology and production line from the Russian bear so quickly.”

Mr. Zhang was very satisfied with Lin Chenran’s speed in doing things.

This is really awesome!
In less than a month, the power output of the Aegis missile destroyer was resolved.

The introduction of the GTZA-674 steam turbine will take the development of steam engines in our country to a higher level.

“I didn’t expect it to be so smooth.”

Lin Chenran now finds it unbelievable.

It went so well!

We quickly reached an agreement on introducing the technology and production line of the GTZA-674 steam turbine.

Then Mr. Zhang slowly asked, ”Lin, since we already have the GTZA-674 steam turbine, do we still want to introduce the LM2500 gas turbine?”

According to the thinking of the top naval officials of Yan State, since the 077 Mechanical Military Factory has introduced the entire set of GTZA-674 steam turbine technology and production lines into the country, why should it spend a huge amount of money to purchase the LM2500 gas turbine from the United States?

”Introduce it? Why not?”

”If we are purchasing, we can buy as much as we can, but we need to discuss whether we can introduce gas turbine technology.”

Lin Chenran certainly knew what the Yan Country Navy was thinking.

Use it first if it is useful. In terms of power output, the GTZA-674 steam turbine is not inferior to the LM2500 gas turbine.

But there is one more type of power output turbine for warships, and there are more options.

Some warships use gas turbines rather than steam turbines, especially those with smaller tonnage.

”I know what your military leaders are thinking, but some funds must be spent. Our relationship with other Western countries is not that tense right now, and we are still in the honeymoon period with the Eagle Sauce. If we can introduce advanced technology, we should do it directly.”

“It will be difficult to introduce it later!”

Lin Chenran said mysteriously.

”More difficult?”

Old Zhang was puzzled. Why did Lin Chenran say that? Was there some unspeakable secret?
Then, Lin Chenran began to explain.

”Mr. Zhang, in the international community, there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies.”

”There are all kinds of unrest in the country, and Western countries have imposed all kinds of sanctions on it. In addition, their country has heavy industry but light industry.”

”The light industry is developing slowly, but demand is increasing day by day. They will show goodwill and ease the relationship with us.”

”Then our relationship with the Eagle Sauce will definitely no longer be in the ’honeymoon’ period. After all, the system is there.”

After Lin Chenran’s explanation, Mr. Zhang suddenly understood.

So that’s why. No wonder Lin Chenran said that it would be difficult to introduce the LM2500 gas turbine in the later stage.

Now even the Eagle Sauce has begun to be wary of the Yan Country.

The relationship between the latter two countries is no longer in the ”honeymoon” period. It is harder than climbing to the sky to introduce the advanced technology and weapons in the hands of the Americans.

”According to what you said, the LM2500 gas turbine must indeed be produced domestically, even if the price is a little higher.”

Only when technology is in your own hands can it truly belong to you.

”Then do you think the Eagle Sauce will give us the opportunity to introduce the LM2500 gas turbine?”
