Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Creating a beacon using part of an evil god’s body established a connection between the evil god and the real world.

This process sounded strikingly similar to the method of making Horcruxes.

A Horcrux was an object that contained part of a person’s soul. Unless it was destroyed, the person would never die.

The items used to make a Horcrux might be ordinary, but under the effect of magic, a successfully made Horcrux would become extremely strong. Its existence had transcended its own material and it was difficult to be destroyed by most ordinary magic or weapons. Only specific weapons or magic could destroy it.

This was the Horcrux, and the so-called beacon was an object that hid part of the evil god’s soul, body or original power.

It was more advanced and evil than the Horcrux, had greater power, and was more difficult to destroy, if not impossible.

In other words, an evil god’s “beacon” was indestructible.

Otherwise, after the war, ancient sorcerers would have destroyed the evil gods’ beacons instead of sealing them up.

Take the statue of the evil god that Evan had seen as an example. The ancient sorcerers had no way to destroy it.

They sealed it in the swamp near Hogwarts using magic of the “Silent” level.

This method seemed to be foolproof, but over time, even the most powerful magic would lose its effect.

The sealed statue of the evil god — this “beacon” — remained unaffected by the passage of time. As long as the god it represented persisted, the “beacon” would always exist.

Horcruxes granted their creators eternal life, while “beacons” relied on the existence of evil gods to achieve immortality.

Evan had defeated an evil god before with the help of The Book of Abraham — or at least, he thought he had won! However, judging by the current situation, what he defeated was merely the projection of the evil god in this world .

The so-called projection was like a kind of spiritual infiltration — a powerful consciousness of the evil god that pierced the barriers of space to manifest in the real world. Such a projection contained the evil god’s thoughts, a small portion of his power, and his characteristics, but it was fundamentally different from a “beacon.”

Ravenclaw also told Evan that not all evil gods had corresponding “beacons”.

Because the production process of the beacon was extremely demanding and difficult, it required a large amount of magical support and the sacrifice of qualified ancient sorcerers to briefly open up a narrow passage between the real world and that world. Therefore, only a few truly powerful and malevolent evil gods had “beacons”.

These few evil gods were easier to detect and gather believers because they had greater power.

“Beacons” were rare, but almost all evil gods had projections in the real world.

“You might not fully grasp the concept of a projection yet, Evan. First of all, you have to know that the world of the evil gods is not completely isolated and unconnected to the world we are familiar with. From the information recorded in the ancient magic books I found, the two are interconnected and influence each other in a specific way,” Ravenclaw explained. “Under certain conditions, even we can reach that world, though we lack the ancient sorcerers’ power to open spatial passageways.”

“What do you mean by ‘certain conditions’?”

“Death,” said Ravenclaw calmly.

Her tone carried no emotion, as if she were discussing something utterly mundane.

“Death?” Evan stared at Ravenclaw closely. Could it be that after death, one would go to the world of the evil gods?

He had never heard of such a saying. If this were true, with so many people dying every moment, would all their souls end up in the world of the evil gods? No matter how he thought about it, this seemed implausible. If it were true, that world would surely be incredibly overcrowded. Ꞧ𝒶ƝÓBĚš

Or perhaps, being dominated by evil gods after death was a very tragic fate.

Of course, Evan didn’t really understand death. He had heard Dumbledore talk about it many times before, but to be honest, death was still a concept full of fear and unknown to him, and he was not prepared to face it.

Evan was not afraid of taking risks, nor was he afraid of dying in the process.

However, to face death calmly and welcome it as it came — that was something he simply couldn’t do.

Perhaps only wizards like the youngest Peverell brother or Dumbledore could face Death as if greeting an old friend.

For someone like Voldemort, who feared death intensely, everything he did was in pursuit of immortality.

This was precisely what Dumbledore despised about him: no matter how powerful Voldemort became, Dumbledore simply didn’t care.

Evan had asked the ghosts before, what did it feel like to die?!

Each ghost’s answer was different, and some told him that death was a relief.

Some ghosts told him that death was extremely painful. They felt cold and the colors around them became dim until they turned black and white.

Then there was the History of Magic Professor Binns, who hadn’t even realized he was dead and was completely indifferent about it.

Perhaps he found his ghostly form more convenient for teaching and therefore didn’t care whether he was alive or not.

Nearly Headless Nick told Evan that after death, a seemingly endless path appeared before him, with no visible destination. Only those with true courage could follow the path to its end, but weak-willed individuals like him chose to remain behind.

This description was intriguing. Considering what Ravenclaw had said, could this path lead to the world of the evil gods?

“Professor, are you saying that after we die, we will go to the world where the evil gods are?”

“Yes, through death, we will reach the world where those beings exist in a very special way,” said Ravenclaw gently. “From what I’ve read, this process seems to involve some kind of choice. It is not certain, but there’s a significant chance of ending up there. These are all recorded in the magic books by ancient warlocks. I haven’t experienced death myself, so I don’t know what this special way means, nor do I know what kind of choices are waiting for us.”

Evan didn’t know what to say. Everything about this sounded terrifying.

“Are you afraid of death, Evan?” Ravenclaw asked, seemingly able to read his thoughts.

Evan nodded, then shook his head, unsure of how to answer.

“Death is not the end of everything, but a greater adventure. Only the truly wise and those with infinite courage can make it to the end,” said Ravenclaw, with a smile on her lips. “I don’t know how you understand it, but if I have the chance, I would like to go to the end and take a look. Well, this is not the focus of our discussion this time. You just need to know that there is some connection between the world we exist in and the world of the evil gods. In fact, as I said just now, in addition to the beacons made by ancient warlocks, the evil gods can also influence us in other ways — through what we call projections. …”
