Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Evan walked to Slytherin’s desk. Now, he could clearly see the staff in front of him.

The dark golden body of the staff, the patterns on the two giant snakes, and the complex patterns carved with ancient magic runes on the scepter.

Of the four key items left behind by Slytherin, only the staff remained missing.

Its importance was self-evident. Evan had seen its pattern many times in those ancient ruins.

The legend of the caduceus could be traced back to the ancient god Hermes, who was considered the patron of magic and the inventor of ancient alchemy. His staff, the caduceus, also had a clear and mysterious connection with magic.

Therefore, this staff was considered to be the original wand, the prototype of Wizarding weapons.

Moreover, Hermes was also the messenger of the gods, the guide between the mortal World and the realm of the deities. With a wave of his staff, he could send gods and mortals into slumber or awaken them from their dreams.

Here, the Double Snake Staff was also considered the key to bridging the mortal and divine worlds.

In short, there were many legends about this Staff, such as the story of the ancient prophet Moses and his connection to it, and many others…

Perhaps, the Double Snake Staff that appeared in these stories was not always the same one, but since they were all the same shape, they were more or less related.

Regardless, the Double Snake Staff was undeniably an immensely significant and powerful magical item.

Evan extended his hand, intending to pick up the Staff.

But before his right hand could touch it, the eyes of the two coiled serpents suddenly opened, glaring at him intensely.

Instantly, a tangible sense of oppression surged toward him, forcing him to take a step back.

This feeling was like being forcibly shoved by someone.

The aura on the Staff formed an invisible wall of air between it and Evan.

Evan had to use magic to break through this wall. This made him sober up a little and recovered from the inexplicable attraction of the Staff to him.

This invisible aura might be the power of the caduceus itself, or it might be the magic left by Slytherin.

In any case, it was not wise to touch this Staff rashly.

In the previous illusion, Gryffindor had already warned Evan against doing so.

He took another look at the dark golden Staff, and for safety reasons, he thought it would be best to stay away from it.

He had limited time back this time, so it was more important for him to find Ravenclaw instead of studying this mysterious Staff here.

At this time, Ravenclaw should be in the hall, announcing her major research results that could change the history of the Wizarding World.

Evan decided to go find her, so he left the headmaster’s office and headed toward the main building of the castle.

Like the previous room, the corridor of the main building was also very quiet, with only the sound of torches burning quietly.

Compared with later generations, the corridor in front of Evan seemed even rougher and gloomier. The walls were devoid of windows, made entirely of cold black stones, with no coverings. There were no familiar paintings or decorations, only numerous… how to put it, rather unsettling ornaments.

For instance, a dried-up troll specimen was displayed without any cover, right at the corner of the staircase.

Evan was startled as he passed by. The troll was so huge, so lifelike, glaring at him fiercely.

It seemed to be still alive, for Evan felt he could feel its breath.

He carefully walked around the troll and went down the staircase.

Another example: looking down the dim, narrow corridor on the seventh floor, one could see it filled with heaps of bones…

This castle was nothing like the Hogwarts Evan had in mind. Instead, it looked more like the base camp of a Dark wizard.

The truth was, at this time, Hogwarts had only recently been established. Before that, it had been the ancestral castle of the Slytherin family, and many of its walls and decorations still bore their unique heraldic designs.

Although the Slytherin family wasn’t strictly a family of Dark wizards, that didn’t mean they were paragons of righteousness.

The overall style of the Middle Ages tended to be dark and bloody, very different from later generations. Except for evil magic that violated the laws of nature, Dark magic during this period was not banned, and many wizards would study and research it.

So it was not surprising to see such a scene!

As Evan walked, he pondered. By this time, Hogwarts should have already begun attempting to admit Muggle-born students. He wondered how many students the Four Founders had managed to recruit, though the number likely should not be very large.

He had wandered through the castle for so long without being discovered or encountering a single student, which clearly indicated that the population within the castle was minimal.

The concept of a Wizarding school as an educational institution was still relatively novel and not widely accepted by the Wizarding World.

Wizarding families had their own ways of educating their descendants, and even though the Four Founders were immensely powerful wizards, many people still didn’t trust them.

In fact, if it weren’t for the fame of the Founders and their families, Hogwarts wouldn’t have been established in the first place.

As for Muggle-born students, successfully enrolling them posed an enormous challenge.

This was not like the later days when an owl mail could solve the problem. Muggles of that era could not tell the difference between wizards and demons. If they received a letter like this, their first reaction would probably be to kill their own children. Otherwise, if other people found out, the whole family might be ruined. This was no joke.

It was impossible at the time to find Muggle parents who would give money to support their children to learn magic.

Even if the professors came to tell them personally that their child was a wizard, the outcome would probably be the same…

The entire Wizarding World and the Muggle World were completely opposed to each other. The ruling class’s propaganda, policies, traditional ideas of pure-blood supremacy and frequent terrible attacks had also exacerbated this opposition. Muggles were terrified of wizards and hated them to the core, and the Wizarding World, which was dominated by pure-blood wizards, treated Muggles exactly as Voldemort and his followers had advocated. In fact, in many cases, wizards of this era would even go further, as they believed they were superior to Muggles.

In the eyes of some wizards, Muggles were not human beings at all, but intelligent creatures like centaurs and goblins.

This was the era that all wizards who firmly believed in the supremacy of pure-bloods hoped to return to: the dark, bloody and chaotic Middle Ages.

The whole situation did not improve until the promulgation of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Since then, with the development of science, Muggles gradually forgot the existence of wizards, thinking that they were just fictional professions in legends, and the conflicts between them became less intense.

While thinking about the background of this era, Evan walked down the main staircase.

He had always assumed that returning to Hogwarts a thousand years in the past would allow him to meet the Four Founders, just as he had last time.

Then, he could have an open and honest conversation with them, especially about the lingering questions in his mind…

Evan hadn’t expected, nor had he prepared, to meet anyone else. But just as he reached the fourth floor, he spotted a girl in sky-blue dress robes coming up from downstairs.

She had short golden hair that reached her ears, and a smooth, fair face that radiated decisiveness and competence.
