Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

“Shut up, Malfoy. I saw Annie too. Don’t order me around. Do you think you and your family…”

Evan couldn’t hear the rest of the words. He didn’t know who the other idiot downstairs besides Malfoy was.

The Malfoy family had been a powerful pure-blood Wizarding family since ancient times. There weren’t many people who dared to speak to them like that.

Obviously, this guy’s family was also very prominent, and its influence was no weaker than that of the Malfoy family.

If it happened in later generations, there wouldn’t be many pure-blood Wizarding families like this, and Evan could have guessed who it was.

But it was the Middle Ages, a thousand years ago, and many ancient pure-blood Wizarding families had not yet disappeared, so there were many people bold enough to talk to Malfoy in such a manner.

A lot of names of famous pure-blood Wizarding families emerged in Evan’s mind.

However, the people downstairs weren’t giving him much time to think. They were running upstairs. Judging by the footsteps, there were clearly more than two people — probably five or six.

The remaining guys might be Malfoy and that boy’s followers.

Sure enough, life was full of surprises and unexpected turns.

What was this unfolding?

Evan had just knocked a girl unconscious, and now her classmates were coming to look for her?!

He looked down at the sword in his hand and at Annie Black lying on the floor. There was no way to explain this misunderstanding.

This scene could easily lead to some rather unpleasant assumptions — as if Evan was about to do something inappropriate to the girl on the floor…

Uh, something unspeakable.

Anyone who saw this would think so. Why else would Evan knock her unconscious for no reason?

Even Evan himself wasn’t sure why he had knocked her out just now. He could have used the Imperius Curse.

Originally, he had just wanted to avoid some trouble and arguments, but things had developed in an even more troublesome direction.

It really was, as always, in line with the style of this book!

Now, there was no way to explain things. Besides, even without this situation, Evan had nothing to say to the Slytherins. Not even Slytherin students from over a thousand years ago.

Since he couldn’t explain, Evan didn’t want to continue fighting either — this wasn’t the way he had envisioned his arrival.

It would be best if they didn’t find him, and even better if they didn’t see this scene.

Without much thought, he came to this conclusion.

He waved his wand, making the unconscious Annie Black float beside him, and controlled her to move towards the corridor on the fourth floor.

In later generations, this was the classroom for Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, but he wasn’t sure what it was used for now.

Evan opened the door and slipped inside. The room was elegantly decorated, like an exquisite cafe. There was no teacher’s desk, but many small round tables and sofas were placed randomly. The walls were covered with light green wallpaper and murals, as well as many portrait frames.

Fortunately, all the canvases were empty; they must be listening to Ravenclaw’s lecture downstairs.

Through the classroom door, Evan could hear the group heading in this direction, calling out the name of the girl beside him.

Panting, Evan cast a Disillusionment Charm on Annie Black and hid her behind a curtain.

Outside, the voices were getting closer!

“I heard footsteps. She went this way. I don’t understand why Annie is hiding from us.”

“Of course, because you pushed her too hard. We came to Hogwarts to learn knowledge, not…”

“Come on, Malfoy, don’t be hypocritical. Don’t think I don’t know what your family is planning. To learn knowledge, huh, you are here just to please the Four Founders of the school and support them in running this ridiculous Wizarding School.”

“Since you’re so smart, you must know why I’m doing this?”

“Of course, my father told me everything. Unlike you, I’m already of age and qualified to participate in the family’s decision-making,” said the boy proudly. “Since the last war with the Danes, the strength of Hogwarts’ Four Founders has drawn the attention of the Wizards’ Council — especially Professor Salazar Slytherin. He’s widely acknowledged as the strongest wizard…”

A sharp scream interrupted his words.

“Shut up, Goyle!” Malfoy snapped. “And you, Clive, don’t say his name in school. He can hear you!”

There was silence for a moment outside the corridor, without a sound at all.

Evan wondered, Has Slytherin enchanted his name as well?

It was clear from their tone that these people outside were very afraid of Slytherin!

“In short, because of this school, the three families of Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin are now united. They’re already members of the Seven Great Families and control most of the Wizards’ Council’s seats. No one can ignore their influence.”

“That’s it. That’s exactly why we’re attending this school,” said Malfoy. “Also, let me remind you, don’t underestimate Professor Gryffindor. His actual strength is nearly equal to that of Professor Slytherin.”

“Just a freak who likes Mudbloods!”

“Show him some respect and don’t cause unnecessary trouble. I’ve heard that Professor Slytherin and Lady Ravenclaw are planning to push for reforms in the Elder Council — to limit the rights of pure-blood wizards, create laws to govern wizards, and even establish a prison for wizards. Just like founding Hogwarts, these ideas are unfavorable to us. The Stinchcombe family’s stance is currently ambiguous. The remaining three families must unite to overcome this crisis. You don’t want to spend the rest of your life in prison, do you?”

“They wouldn’t dare! I am from the ancient Peverell family…”

“It’s no use saying this now. Which pure-blood Wizarding family isn’t ancient?!” Malfoy’s disdainful voice sounded. “The key is power. Even combined, we might not be a match for Hogwarts’ Four Founders. By the way, does your family still have anyone capable of using bloodline magic? Ours doesn’t in this generation.”

There was another silence. It seemed that the boy who was talking to Malfoy hadn’t inherited his family’s bloodline magic either.

The so-called bloodline magic was a very special magical talent, such as Slytherin’s Parseltongue, Ravenclaw’s absolute wisdom and so on.

These innate abilities were a hallmark of pure-blood wizards and the secret to their superiority over other wizards. However, as generations passed, bloodlines became increasingly diluted. Pure-blood status and bloodline magic grew rarer and rarer, and by the era Evan came from, the concept had completely disappeared.

Because at that time, no Wizarding family could truly maintain pure bloodlines anymore.

Oh, by the way, the Gaunt family, descendants of Salazar Slytherin, were the only exception.

They insisted on intermarriage within the family to maintain the purity of their bloodline. This crazy behavior led to their members becoming increasingly temperamental and intellectually impaired.

Even so, it was because of this that Voldemort inherited the gift of Parseltongue.

Evan suspected that this was merely a fragment of the Slytherin family’s bloodline magic — likely the most insignificant part.

But the fact that any of it had been passed down at all was incredibly, incredibly rare!
