Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Because the time to stay in the past was limited, the remaining two opportunities had to be used wisely, with the exact time carefully confirmed.

Evan didn’t want to go back to Hogwarts a thousand years ago, but in the end he couldn’t find Rowena Ravenclaw…

If that happened, what would be the point of going back? A sightseeing tour of Hogwarts a millennium ago? Or perhaps a chance to taste the notoriously awful British cuisine of that era?

“The information recorded in this book should be accurate,” Dumbledore said, pulling out a crystal bottle from his pocket, which contained a swirling, floating silvery substance. “While Harry and I walk down Bob Ogden’s memory lane, you’ll have the chance to meet Hogwarts’ Founders in person and listen to the voices of our great ancestors!”

Listening to the teachings of the great ancestors, to be honest, Evan didn’t want to see those dangerous and troublesome ancestors at all.

But he had no choice, he had to go back.

Evan didn’t say anything, just nodded slightly and carefully confirmed the time recorded on the document in front of him.

Putting aside emotional factors, going back to Hogwarts a thousand years ago was indeed a good way to solve the problems. Evan had many questions he needed the Four Founders to answer. He also wanted to ask about the whereabouts of the keys left by Slytherin and Hufflepuff.

However, considering the personalities of those people, many questions would likely go unanswered. It was doubtful they would willingly reveal anything to him.

Each Founder left not just a treasure key but also riddles and trials that had to be passed to earn the reward. Hufflepuff, with her gentle demeanor, seemed approachable, but the image of Slytherin’s cold, handsome face appeared in Evan’s mind. He couldn’t imagine Slytherin willingly disclosing any information.

If he encountered Slytherin alone, who knew what unexpected situations might arise?

Besides, Evan’s return to Hogwarts a thousand years ago was part of the test left by Ravenclaw.

Starting with the Merpeople in the lake, her clues led Evan to search for her diadem, stolen by her daughter Helena. The magic on the diadem guided Evan to follow in Ravenclaw’s footsteps, leading him to the Titan of Time, Cronos, and eventually to the Time-Turner.

This Time-Turner was the one that originally brought Evan back to Hogwarts a thousand years ago — the starting point of everything.

One link led to another, and Ravenclaw must have planned all this from the very beginning.

Perhaps she had even intentionally let Helena steal her diadem.

While completing the test left by Ravenclaw, Evan had also encountered Cronos, the Titan of Time, which seemed to be part of her plan as well.

After Cronos told him a lot of things that were obviously beyond Evan’s comprehension, he also left him with yet another test.

Cronos guided Evan to find the special Time-Turner, which was part of his original power, but the power of this Time-Turner was not strong enough to bring Evan back to Hogwarts a thousand years ago, so Evan had to collect the time power scattered in other places to enhance this Time-Turner.

In this way, Evan once again found himself heading to Egypt, this time to the Ruins of Amun Ra, where he even met Ramses II in person.

After agreeing to Ramses II’s request, Evan learned from him about the essence of Titan magic, the power of rules, and a magical artifact capable of altering rules — a replica of the Eye of Horus. He also learned that Ramses II had a deal with the Titan of Time. What initially seemed like a random event — Evan’s journey to Egypt to find the Time-Turner — had, in fact, been predetermined. From the moment Evan met Cronos, this outcome had already been woven into the fabric of time, and was bound to happen as an occurrence dictated by its rules.

So much complexity!

It took Evan a long time to sort through it all.

Furthermore, these plans left him with no control. Every step he took seemed to have been foreseen by these ancient wizards.

He felt like a chess piece, being arranged to move around and do this and that. It was really an uncomfortable feeling!

And yet, solving all these problems didn’t mark the end.

Evan still needed to go back again a thousand years to meet Rowena Ravenclaw and get the treasure key she left behind.

In other words, it was hard to say whether he had passed Ravenclaw’s test now.

The whole process was full of countless dangers and was very troublesome.

When Ravenclaw had designed the test, it seemed that she had not thought about the abilities of future generations.

She wouldn’t have arranged the entire test based on her level of strength, right?

Compared to her, Slytherin’s test was even more troublesome. It was currently entangled with Voldemort and involved two evil gods.

If Evan were confident in defeating Voldemort and the evil gods, why would he even bother seeking the Founders’ treasure?!

As for Hufflepuff’s test, it had yet to begin, but anything related to demons was bound to be far from simple.

All in all, the tests of Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin were increasingly difficult, one after another.

Evan really didn’t know what they were trying to do. Were they testing whether their teaching philosophies had been passed down, or were they grooming a Savior?

Thinking about it this way, Gryffindor seemed the best of them all—he didn’t deliberately make things difficult for his descendants. Like the Sorting Hat, Gryffindor had left behind a part of his consciousness to personally select heirs he found satisfactory, without involving any unnecessary, messy complications…

He sighed and tried not to think about all this mess.

Now that the time had been set, it was time to act. There was no point in hesitation.

This was not the first or second time that Evan had gone back to the past. He looked up at Harry and Dumbledore.

Seeing Dumbledore give him a slight nod, Evan matched the Time-Turner to the time recorded in the book and began turning it.

The next second, his body vanished abruptly from the spot, leaving only a swirling vortex in the air…

Harry stared wide-eyed at the place where Evan had disappeared. He knew Evan had already returned to a thousand years ago.

This kind of magic always seemed incredible no matter when one watched it!

“Don’t worry about Evan, he will take care of himself,” said Dumbledore. He slowly poured the silvery contents of the crystal bottle in his hand into the Pensieve, where they swirled and shimmered, neither liquid nor gas.

“But, Professor…”

“You look worried.”

Harry was silent. Not to mention Evan, he was indeed looking at the Pensieve with some apprehension.

His previous experiences with the odd device that stored and revealed thoughts and memories, though highly instructive, had also been uncomfortable. The last time he had disturbed its contents without permission, he had seen much more than he would have wished. But Dumbledore was smiling.

“This time, you enter the Pensieve with me … and, even more unusually, with permission,” said Dumbledore. “Come on, Harry, after you. We’d better hurry. Although Evan has to go back to the distant past, he may come back at any moment. And I’m eager to hear the news he brings back!”
