Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Evan quietly watched the conversation between the Four Founders without saying anything. Now was not the time to ask questions.

The Four Founders paid no attention to Evan either, and instead got into their argument, which seemed to have happened many times before.

But to be honest, Evan didn’t quite understand what Ravenclaw said.

What did she mean?

Especially that last part she said to Slytherin — Evan had too many questions. First, what was Domain Magic? Second, what dangerous thing had Slytherin done again? Why did Ravenclaw warn him to stop his dangerous magic experiments, otherwise, he would become some kind of monster one day…?

Was the monster here referring to the terrible evil god? Or was it something else?

What was undeniable was that the power Salazar Slytherin currently possessed could instantly control all the wizards in the Great Hall. It might have its limits, but without a doubt, this was a power no mortal should possess.

If everyone present were Muggles, Evan could have understood Slytherin’s ability to do this.

After all, he was so powerful and possessed magical abilities and sorcery beyond imagination.

But now the people in the Hall were not Muggles, but wizards, many of whom were powerful. …

It was incredible that Slytherin could still do this!

“Don’t worry about me. I know my limits and where the bottom line is,” said Salazar, staring at Ravenclaw for a while. “I don’t interfere with whatever you’re trying to do, so don’t meddle with my magic experiments. That’s it for today. I’ll take responsibility for convincing those unruly pure-blood Wizarding families and disciplining my students so that they will use their brains more next time they do something like this.”

“Wait, you don’t mean to let this matter go like this?!” said Gryffindor. “Salazar, I don’t care if you do those messy experiments in the school dungeons, but Rowena’s Diadem…”

Just as Evan was about to say that he had brought the Diadem back, the Four Founders all raised their heads and looked in one direction.

There was the largest window in the Great Hall, located behind the later staff table, facing the lake and cliffs outside the castle.

Now, a finely crafted carriage could be seen speeding toward them from the distance, rapidly closing in, pulled by six flying horses.

They were all golden horses, not the Abraxans that Evan had seen in Beauxbatons before, but real Pegasi. They had wings, were golden all over, and their eyes were not that red, so they looked more beautiful.

What attracted more attention was the carriage itself. Evan found that it was emitting white light.

Even though it was daytime now, the light was very obvious, not dazzling, but very soft light.

The carriage stopped directly above the arched window, allowing its full appearance to be seen.

There was also an emblem on the carriage. On one side was a portrait of a very old man with a solemn expression and a triple crown. On the other side were two crossed keys. These were the keys of Saint Peter, the symbol of the Holy See.

“It seems we have a new guest!” said Hufflepuff. “It’s the Holy See’s carriage!”

“A Cardinal.”

“Now anyone dares to come to Hogwarts!” Slytherin snorted again, expressing his dissatisfaction. “Perhaps we need a cross and a pile of firewood to properly welcome His Eminence.”

“Or perhaps this is an opportunity. We should have a good talk with the Cardinal and ask him to go back and persuade His Majesty to stop persecuting wizards. All the trials they launched did not kill a single real wizard. All those who died were innocent Muggle civilians,” Hufflepuff shook her head and said, “Honestly, I really don’t understand. They’re clearly using magic themselves —”

“It’s no use. They don’t admit that they use magic. Instead, they claim it’s the divine arts and prophetic rituals inherited from the Roman Empire,” Gryffindor interrupted. “Besides, you don’t really think their goal is to kill wizards. Those lunatics are just looking for an excuse to spread their faith. Now even the Wizards’ Council has stopped intervening. I’ve heard they’ve reached some sort of agreement with the Holy See.”

“So what do we do now? Drive this fellow away or let him in?”

“We can’t let him go. He’s seen too much already. At the very least, we need to modify his memory,” said Gryffindor quickly, “If he is not as stupid as the others, he’ll surely understand the significance of the magic Salazar just used.”

“Cancel your magic, Salazar. Now that a Cardinal has come to Hogwarts, this matter will soon spread throughout the entire Wizarding World. It is no longer an internal matter of Hogwarts. We must make it clear, and Godric is right. We cannot let the secret leak out,” said Ravenclaw decisively.

Slytherin didn’t say anything. He waved his wand vigorously and the black mist dissipated.

Everyone returned to normal and the Great Hall suddenly became lively again and the noise was deafening.

Many wizards were shouting and attacking with magic randomly, continuing the battle they had just started.

“What just happened?”

“I think I saw a cloud of black mist … maybe I was imagining things,” said Nick, rubbing his eyes vigorously.

Evan overheard Nick’s conversation with Weasley and realized that they hadn’t noticed the time pause within the black mist. They had no idea they had been frozen for a moment. Only the truly powerful wizards seemed to be aware of it.

Those powerful wizards had all stopped fighting and looked with lingering fear at Salazar Slytherin who had appeared on the high platform.

When the others also noticed the Four Founders standing on the platform and the glowing carriage outside the window, the fight in the Hall began to subside.

On the contrary, the noise grew louder and louder, with everyone wanting to tell everyone else what they had discovered.

The originally chaotic situation was gradually brought under control. Evan was still sitting in the Gryffindor House area. Like the discussions around him, he was also thinking about the conversation between the Four Founders. The situation at this time and in this world was more complex than he had imagined.

By later times, the power of the Holy See had declined, unlike this era.

But Evan still clearly remembered the scene he’d seen when he, Hagrid, Sirius and Madame Maxime rode in the flying carriage over Rome in his third year. The huge column of light rising into the sky was an unforgettable scene.

Sirius had said that it was the effect of a holy relic treasured by the Holy See, and it had been active for more than a thousand years.

Evan didn’t know what that relic was, and despite searching through books later, he couldn’t find any records about it.

What he did know, however, was that it was the clearest he had ever felt the sheer, overwhelming power of magic in his entire life. …
