Reborn As Super Heiress

It’s been a day and a night since the rash appeared. Wu Jingyi not only has to endure the itchy sensation and control herself from scratching, but also has to force herself not to break down emotionally.

Within a day, the company took her and An Rong to several hospitals, both Chinese and Western medicine were consulted, but unfortunately, none of the doctors could understand their condition, unable to determine whether they were poisoned or infected by bacteria. Without identifying the cause, it’s impossible to prescribe appropriate medication. So these doctors could only casually prescribe some anti-inflammatory and anti-itch drugs, which treated the symptoms but not the underlying issue, having little effect.

The itch persists, and the rash is likely to recur. Some doctors have outright stated that even if the rash subsides, it might leave scars, and complete recovery could be difficult.

Now Wu Jingyi is panicking, thinking that her face could be ruined for good, causing her sleepless nights and a dazed out spirit.

But is this the end? The blow that follows is truly unbearable for Wu Jingyi.

The company higher-ups received the news and decided to cancel the Spring Festival Gala performance after seeing the photos of Wu Jingyi and An Rong’s rash. They instructed the two agents to negotiate directly with Han Wen at the TV station. By around two to three o’clock in the afternoon, Wu Jingyi’s agent returned to the neighborhood where Wu Jingyi lived.

Upon finding out that their program was unilaterally canceled by the company, Wu Jingyi was dumbfounded.

”I’ve been preparing this program for months, there’s no way I won’t go on stage. I must go!”

Wu Jingyi, anxious and angry, couldn’t help but vent her fury at her agent.

The agent, who had been scolded by Han Wen and blamed by the higher-ups back at the company, received another severe reprimand and was given a final warning that if satisfactory performance wasn’t shown within half a year after the holidays, they would be fired.

Because of this incident, the agent was already upset and, seeing Wu Jingyi acting irrationally, grew even more furious.

”Why are you causing a fuss? If it weren’t for the mess you and An Rong caused, would the company cancel the performance? Do you know that because of the two of you, every artist in the company is affected? Han Wen has already stated that Xinghui’s artists are banned, and the door to Spring Festival Gala will be shut on us. How do you still have the nerves to fuss over it?”

Hearing these words, Wu Jingyi was terrified, her eyes widened, face turning pale: ”What did you say?”

”What did I say? I’m speaking plainly, don’t you understand? Because of the two of you, Han Wen took it out on all of Xinghui, and from now on, the Spring Festival Gala won’t let any artist from Xinghui’s stage!”

The agent, feeling resentful, spoke harshly, pointing at the dark red rash on Wu Jingyi’s face, began to scold:

”Who do you think we’re doing all this for? Look at the state you’re in now. Even thick makeup can’t cover it unless wearing a mask! If you go on stage, you’ll be utterly embarrassed. It’s better not to go up, at least you can keep a good impression in the audience’s mind!”

Now Wu Jingyi was speechless, staring blankly at the agent: ”Is it really that serious?”

The agent laughed in anger: ”Serious? I’m telling you, if you go on stage, it’ll be much worse. Why are you the only one fussing around? Do you see An Rong causing a commotion? She’s a veteran actress, quietly following the company’s arrangements. Why? Because she knows what’s essential and when to retreat. If you can’t lay low and act sensibly at times like this, do you want the company to directly sideline you?”

Wu Jingyi didn’t have personal experience with the term ”sidelined”, but she had seen a few actresses who offended the higher-ups getting sidelined and living miserably. Unable to get jobs, stuck with no income, living in damp basements, having meals uncertain, just the thought of it made Wu Jingyi shiver uncontrollably.

Now Wu Jingyi dared not fuss anymore, looking at her agent with horror and dread: ”So what should I do?”

”The company will think of something, surely won’t let you be ruined like this. Learn from An Rong, stay composed when things happen, stop doing foolish things! After offending people unknowingly, it’ll be yourself suffering hidden losses in the end!”

Upon hearing these words from the agent, Wu Jingyi remembered something: ”Didn’t I ask you to investigate that woman with the last name Huo yesterday? How’s the investigation going?”

The agent glanced at Wu Jingyi, saying: ”As soon as you mentioned it yesterday, I’ve already set someone to begin investigating. We should receive a response soon. If this matter was really done by Huo Sining, not only you and me, but the company definitely won’t let this woman off easily!”

Ever since Wu Jingyi received Liang Jinghong’s favor, she indeed became somewhat arrogant, subtly harming several artists blocking her path, but she was confident those people wouldn’t dare retaliate. Therefore, her suspicious target had always been Huo Sining, as her intuition told her this matter was definitely tied to Huo Sining!

While the two were waiting for news, suddenly they heard the sound of a key being inserted into the lock. Before Wu Jingyi could react, the door opened from outside, and Liang Jinghong stormed in. Seeing the two inside, he was surprised: ”Huh, you haven’t left yet? Weren’t you supposed to go to the TV station to prepare for tonight’s Spring Festival Gala? You—”

Before Liang Jinghong could finish speaking, he raised his head and saw Wu Jingyi’s face swollen like a bun, covered in dark red bumps, pitted and uneven. Seeing this made Liang Jinghong nauseous, and he forgot what he was about to say. His eyes instinctively flashed with intense disgust, mixed with shock and disbelief.

Wu Jingyi was stunned as well, staring for a few seconds before snapping back, yelling sharply, then quickly turned and rushed into the bedroom, locking the door behind her.

Drawn back to reality by Wu Jingyi’s scream, Liang Jinghong realized something was wrong, frowned and looked at Wu Jingyi’s agent: ”What’s going on here?”

The agent was also a bit dumbfounded but respectfully called ”Young Master Liang” upon Liang Jinghong’s arrival, and then recounted everything that happened to Wu Jingyi over the past two days.

Liang Jinghong listened without interruption until the agent finished, remaining with a blank expression.
