Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1110: Chapter 1106: The Four Masterpieces of Mao Porcelain

Qibao hurried over to Huo Sining, clinging tightly to Huo Sining’s coat and dared not speak, sensing something was amiss, Huo Sining couldn’t help but ask, ”Qibao, what’s wrong with you?”

Qibao kept his head down in silence. Huo Sining thought the child might be a bit scared in this unfamiliar environment, felt a bit helpless in his heart, so he simply bent down and picked up Qibao in his arms. Once held, the little guy immediately stretched out his hands and hugged Huo Sining’s neck tightly, burying his head in Huo Sining’s shoulder, refusing to come out.

A group of six people drove to the residential area where Old Granny lived. Her home was located in an old residential district, but the house was not small. Upon entering, the elder invited them to sit down, made some tea for them, and then turned to enter the inner study, rummaged through her husband’s bookshelf, and found a wooden box.

Old Granny came out holding that wooden box, placed it on the coffee table, carefully opened it, revealing an entire set of Plum Blossom Tea Cup inside.

This set of Mao porcelain tea utensils included one waist drum teapot, four waist drum teacup saucers, two hoof-shaped teacups, and a tea caddy. If you calculate it, there should also be two Victory Cups, but those two Old Granny had given to her father, so they’re probably nowhere to be found.

However, even so, with a teapot, teacups, and a tea caddy, it could still form a complete tea set.

Although this tea set was not the ”Droplet Peach Blossoms” pattern appointed by Chairman Mao, it used an underglaze red plum motif. The porcelain, with glassy white droplet flower petals, depicted plum blossoms that were charming but not gaudy, beautiful yet not vulgar.

The flowers were clean in color, with distinct layers, varying densities of branches and leaves, flowers of different sizes, and coloring that was both light and heavy, making each plum blossom vibrant and lively, especially under the contrast of the plain body, appearing crystal clear, resembling the tender skin of jade clay.

White as jade, clear as a mirror, thin as paper, sounds like a bell—these four aspects define Mao porcelain’s four absolutes.

This tea set perfectly illustrates the features of 7501 Mao porcelain. The porcelain is sleek as jade, the surface smooth like a silver glow of a mirror, with a thickness of less than a millimeter, nearly transparent under light, remaining cool to touch even with boiling water added. Tapping it lightly with a finger produces a clear and pleasant sound, like the ringing of a bell.

Seeing this, Huo Sining could determine that this porcelain set, just like the earlier Plum Vase, was produced from the same kiln many years ago, a genuine Mao porcelain.

The fervor of ****** has become history, decades have passed, and the political and social environment in the country has undergone dramatic changes, yet Mao porcelain did not decline as a result. On the contrary, it gained popularity over time, attracting more and more enthusiasts to pursue and explore.

This porcelain set before her eyes, thanks to the owner’s careful keeping, even after all these years, still shone with color, as if it were newly made, each cup intact with no signs of damage.

Such a complete Mao porcelain set is not easily encountered. Before seeing it, Yin Zeyan didn’t feel much, but now with the items displayed before him, he finally realized what envy and resentment felt like.

If he had shown a friendlier attitude in the shop earlier, if he had directly paid for the chipped Plum Vase then, would Old Granny have sold this Mao porcelain set to him instead of Huo Sining?

Just imagining this possibility filled Yin Zeyan with regret and frustration.

His eyes were red, staring fixatedly at the porcelain set before him, continuously praying in his heart, hoping with a hint of wishful thinking that Huo Sining wouldn’t be able to come up with enough cash to afford this set, so he would still have a chance.

Unfortunately, this fantasy of his was destined to be shattered by Huo Sining. Upon seeing the porcelain set, Huo Sining knew she had no reason to refuse. After a brief pause, she directly said,:

”Madam, I really like this porcelain set. As I mentioned before, if your Plum Vase were intact, selling it for one to two million is not a problem. As for this tea set, the price of each piece is around half a million. But since this is a complete set of eight pieces, the price certainly should be higher, so I won’t bargain with you. As you said, this set caught my eye. I’ll offer eight million. If you consider this price suitable, I’ll take the porcelain set!”

Eight million?! Old Granny was startled by the price Huo Sining named.

The Plum Vase itself was worth one to two million, and she roughly calculated that her porcelain set could sell for five million at most. She never imagined Huo Sining would offer such a high price of eight million.

Even Yin Zeyan was stunned.

From his ideal price, he couldn’t go beyond six to seven million for this set, eight million was too high.

Of course, if this tea set were to be auctioned, it might fetch eight million or more. But Yin Zeyan, being a businessman, engaged in resale business, has to consider the market value as well as whether he can profit from the resale. If he paid eight million for the set, he would barely make any margin reselling it.

So, from this aspect, he had already lost to Huo Sining, as he couldn’t possibly offer such a high price of eight million.

Seeing Huo Sining hold up two fingers to make the gesture of ’eight’, and noting the natural and serious expression on her face, Yin Zeyan couldn’t help but smile bitterly, knowing that she wasn’t joking. Observing her confident demeanor, he realized this lady wasn’t short of eight million, and the wishful thinking he had before was probably in vain.

Old Granny was undoubtedly very satisfied with the eight million. She could tell that Huo Sining was straightforward, and the given price indeed exceeded expectations. Old Granny, being sensible, didn’t attempt to raise the price, nodding in agreement quickly.

Huo Sining immediately filled out a domestic bank check for Old Granny, which only needed to be cashed at the bank. After handing the check to Old Granny, she acquired the porcelain set.

Huo Sining was also quite pleased, knowing the elderly lady was eager to gather funds for her husband’s medical expenses, so she prepared to leave with the others. Unexpectedly, just as she stood up, Qibao smiled at Old Granny and asked, ”Grandma, could you give me that vase?”
