Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1120: Chapter 1116: Overthinking

Yao Yujia was full of doubt and confusion, and even as she arrived at Zhou Qing’s workspace, she still couldn’t shake it off.

At that moment, she overheard people in Zhou Qing’s workroom discussing the car accident from a few days ago.

”Louis was already set to be the magician for the Spring Festival Gala, wasn’t he? But the accident was so severe, and he’s still not awake. What will happen to his magic show? Will it be canceled directly?”

”Why would it be canceled? The magic show at the Spring Festival Gala is highly acclaimed every year, and it’s the only magic performance at the entire gala. If even this is cut, what would be the point of watching?”

”That’s true, but Louis is still in a coma on a hospital bed, so he definitely can’t perform on stage for New Year’s Eve. Who’s the production team planning to have instead?”

”There are six or seven people in the director’s team, so they’ll definitely come up with something. Probably, they’ll pick someone from the eliminated magicians as a substitute candidate.”

Upon hearing this, Yao Yujia suddenly stopped in her tracks, glanced at the few people in the workroom, and whispered to Zhou Qing, ”What are they talking about? Is there a problem with the Spring Festival Gala program?”

Zhou Qing nodded, ”This thing spread all over the building yesterday, so it’s not really a secret. It’s that the Spring Festival Gala production team decided on a magic act this year, but the new magician Louis carelessly got into a car accident a few days ago and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. They managed to save him, but he’s still not out of danger, so there’s no way he can participate in the live performance at the gala. I heard the production team got flustered upon hearing this news and are worried about who to replace that magician.”

Yao Yujia still doubted why Huo Sining appeared at the TV station, but now she sneered cynically, the corners of her mouth showing disdain. She finally understood why Huo Sining brought Gu Xu to the station—to rely on the power and status of the Gu Family to back herself up.

That woman definitely wants to seize the opportunity due to Louis’ accident, figuring out a way to replace Louis and get herself on stage. But she’s afraid of the production team refusing, so she brought Gu Xu along to pressure Han Wen using the Gu Family!

The more Yao Yujia thought about it, the more she believed she had discovered the truth. The first time she heard Huo Sining’s name was from seeing the magic video of the S University’s welcome party on Weibo, which quickly went viral online. Before long, Miss Magic became famous.

Back then, Yao Yujia didn’t know that the magician in the video would become her cousin’s romantic rival. She was genuinely impressed by Huo Sining’s magical skills, but shortly after, she saw interactions between Huo Sining and Gu Xu on Weibo.

It was then that Yao Yujia realized this previously unknown female university student had surprisingly captured the so-called Golden Saint, Diamond Bachelor—Shengtang’s CEO Gu Xu.

At that time, Yao Yujia very much looked down on Huo Sining. Coincidentally, her sister Yao Xinzhu returned from France to negotiate a cooperation project, and the partner was Shengtang Group. Yao Yujia believed with her sister’s abilities, it would only take moments to snatch a man back from this girl surnamed Huo, so she never took Huo Sining seriously.

To her surprise, not long after, her sister returned to France in shame, not knowing what happened. When she called to ask, her sister was evasive and never mentioned wanting to get back with Gu Xu again, even advising her to give up her thoughts on Song Hui, saying she couldn’t help.

This result left Yao Yujia stunned and utterly puzzled. After pondering for some time, the only possibility she could think of was that her sister’s intentions were discovered by that woman surnamed Huo, who then used some dirty tricks to threaten her sister or caught hold of some leverage or lifeline, forcing her sister to retreat in embarrassment.

With this thought, Yao Yujia’s impression of Huo Sining plummeted to the bottom. While her sister, the person involved, hadn’t commented, she herself started to hate Huo Sining first.

Yao Yujia wasn’t interested in Gu Xu but had quite the interest in Gu Xu’s childhood friend, the man named Song Hui. Back in high school, when her sister was Gu Xu’s girlfriend, Song Hui and Gu Xu often played together. Occasionally, Yao Xinzhu would bring her along to join the boys, and that’s when she took a liking to Song Hui. However, Song Hui frequently changed girlfriends and never really focused his attention on her.

Back then, Yao Yujia was a shy girl, only experiencing her first crush, and didn’t have the courage to confess to Song Hui. Later when she was in college and could finally freely date, her sister broke up with Gu Xu, and thus she fell out of contact with Song Hui.

During her four years at university, Yao Yujia did have boyfriends, but due to Yao Xinzhu’s influence, she thought Song Hui and Gu Xu were just ordinary folk from civilian families. Such people couldn’t give her the future she wanted. Her sister had decisively left Gu Xu and gone to France, so of course, Yao Yujia didn’t want to lower herself compared to her sister and thus stopped thinking about Song Hui.

After graduation, not long after, Yao Yujia joined the TV station. Once, she was invited to accompany a businessman to a large-scale gathering and unexpectedly saw Song Hui and Gu Xu there.

It was also at that gathering that Yao Yujia learned that her sister had missed out. Those two men, whom the sisters mistakenly regarded as ordinary civilian kids, turned out to be—one as Shengtang Group’s CEO, and the other as its deputy CEO, each having astonishingly high net worth.

While regretting, Yao Yujia’s old feelings for Song Hui reignited. She desperately wanted to be Song Hui’s destined woman but struggled due to lack of opportunity, so she informed her sister of this news and strongly urged Yao Xinzhu to return to reclaim Gu Xu’s heart. Only if her sister reconciled with Gu Xu could she utilize this connection to smoothly enter Gu Xu’s four-person group and hook up with Song Hui.

Unfortunately, no matter how she formulated her plans, she could never have foreseen her sister would be thwarted by a little girl.

Yao Yujia devised a good plan, but her sister was not strong enough; lacking this crucial step, no matter how perfect her subsequent plans were, they amounted to nothing.

Inwardly, Yao Yujia cursed her sister for being spineless, getting scared off by such a girl, while she deeply resented Huo Sining.

She believed that her plans failed all because of Huo Sining. If it hadn’t been for Huo Sining’s meddling, she might already have been with Song Hui, or even married into the Song Family as their lead daughter-in-law.

Huo Sining was unaware of being hated by a woman for no apparent reason, nor of Yao Yujia’s thoughts, otherwise she would be stunned by Yao Yujia’s twisted logic.

Which proves, imagination can be harmful—Yao Yujia, with all her mental scheming, failed to realize why Song Hui, with all the women he could choose from, would pick her?
