Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1114: Chapter 1110: The Wife Is Coming

As the Spring Festival Gala nears, Huo Sining’s magic act was eventually slotted in, involving contacts with various personnel and coordination between shows as well as time management. After some discussions, Huo Sining decided to follow Han Wen back to the Imperial Capital.

The time initially reserved for Louis in the lineup was ten minutes; now Louis’s magic show and Huo Sining’s differ not only in duration, but also require adjustments from lighting engineers, musicians, and program modification. Many things needed to be handled, and having everything sorted out within more than ten days was indeed challenging.

Since Huo Sining agreed to Han Wen, she naturally took the Spring Festival Gala matter to heart. Han Wen asked her to go to the Imperial Capital to cooperate with rehearsal arrangements, and she agreed without hesitation.

That afternoon, the two bought tickets back to the Imperial Capital, packed a few pieces of luggage, and Huo Sining took Qibao back to the Imperial Capital. She figured there would be no time to return to the Magic Capital before the year-end, and it seemed she’d really be spending the Spring Festival in the Imperial Capital.

Previously, when Huo Sining returned to the country, Gu Xu mentioned spending the New Year in their new home, but since the two hadn’t completely finalized the arrangements, Huo Sining was somewhat apprehensive and didn’t agree.

Who’d have thought, after all the fuss, that she’d end up having to spend New Year in the Imperial Capital, leaving her somewhat awkward. However, Gu on the other end was overjoyed, especially perceiving Han Wen, who invited Huo Sining to the Spring Festival Gala, more favorably.

Gu had originally held a low opinion of Han Wen due to her previous matchmaking antics—relying on a good relationship with Chen Yu to casually set him up—but this time, Han Wen unknowingly did something that suited Gu Xu’s intentions well, leading him to feel both delighted and smug, ready to overlook Han Wen’s past actions.

The few secretaries in the CEO’s office have been on tenterhooks in recent days, sensing the low atmospheric pressure. Occasionally delivering documents, they could feel the CEO’s stern face and notably unpleasant expression.

Moreover, Mr. Gu, whose personality had brightened over the past year, suddenly reverted to being a stoic workaholic, working until eight or nine at night every day. With the boss working so hard, how could the employees dare to leave early? As a result, the entire group was filled with employees working industriously even at seven or eight o’clock each night.

The secretaries quietly speculated privately, suspecting the CEO had quarreled with his girlfriend while the staff all wore a bitter expression. Whether the CEO quarreled with his girlfriend, they weren’t sure, but they were certain that if this overworking continued, their own girlfriends would surely quarrel with them.

Employees at Shengtang Company who wanted raises or holidays were now everyone keeping their heads down and behaving honestly, afraid to speak up and hit by the boss’s bad mood, suffering redirected anger.

Even the head of the secretaries was treading carefully, walking on thin ice, only entering the CEO’s office when absolutely necessary.

This continued for several days, leading everyone to speculate whether half the year-end bonus and annual leave would be cut, when suddenly the phone in the CEO’s office rang. He answered with a stern face.

Who knows what was said on the other end of the line, but the CEO’s previously gloomy expression suddenly brightened, transforming from dark to sunny, radiating springtime cheer.

After hanging up the phone, the CEO, who had been working crazily, grabbed his suit jacket and prepared to head out. At the elevator, he suddenly remembered something and turned to the head of secretaries, saying: ”As year-end approaches, if the plans are completed, let the employees start their holidays early. They’ve worked hard all year, it’s time for a break.”

The head of secretaries was stunned, exchanged glances with the other secretaries under them, confused by what was happening with their boss—was this a Sichuan Opera face change?

The head secretary, having followed Gu Xu for several years, was braver than the other secretaries. Seeing Gu Xu about to enter the elevator, they mustered courage and called out: ”Boss.”

Gu Xu stopped the elevator door from closing and turned back: ”What else is there?”

The secretary hesitated for half a second before saying: ”About the year-end bonus...”

Gu Xu realized: ”Let the vice presidents discuss that; the performance this year was decent. Following the usual protocol, those due for promotion should be promoted, and those deserving of bonuses should be rewarded. Everyone should happily go home for the good year!”

The secretaries’ faces immediately lit up with smiles, secretly thinking the CEO must have reconciled with his girlfriend; when his mood is right, anything goes, and they’re also included in enjoying the good times.

As soon as Gu Xu left, the secretaries swiftly sent out messages below.

”The alert is off, clear skies.”

”Good news, good news—the boss has run off with his girlfriend, leaving this message: Year-end is near, for those who’ve completed work plans, feel free to start your holiday early!”

”Extraordinary joy: the year-end bonus won’t be cut, so everyone can shop to their heart’s content. The boss has spoken; according to custom, promotions will be granted and bonuses rewarded!”

These messages circulated quickly, causing an uproar from top to bottom due to the intense overtime over the past days. Though nobody complained verbally, internally there were minor grievances, yet unexpectedly, this ordeal ended in everyone’s favor; with all the overtime, work progress accelerated, and now they could slip into holiday mode early.

Not only did they gain extra vacation, they also secured a commendable year-end bonus. They were naturally cheerful, nearly ready to break into a dance for an epic celebration in the company.

The internal news from the secretaries reached every employee within half an hour, confirming what they’d heard, directly from the boss via email, tomorrow night would be the company’s annual party, and after that, they could begin their leave.

”Yay! Long live the boss!”

A group of employees exuberantly celebrated throughout the Shengtang Building, but our friend readying to race to the airport likely missed this wild scene.

Upon receiving a call from his wife, learning she’d be performing at the Spring Festival Gala and spending New Year in the Imperial Capital, he was thrilled, tossing away his pen and plans, heading straight to the airport.

As if joking, his recent overtime was purely because he felt down. Returning to the new home, it was empty, devoid of a homely essence; missing his wife bouncing around and savoring a good meal made by him, living like this was extremely dull.

Thus, rather than idle at home, he’d rather reside in the office overtime. At least there, a bunch of burly men kept him company.

But now that his wife was around, was there any need for overtime? No matter how grand the sky or earth, nothing beats the greatness of his wife. When money is never fully earned, his wish finally came true to have his wife here; such a golden chance couldn’t have him sitting around in the office addressing paperwork!?
