Reborn As Super Heiress

Over at Han Wen’s side, it was a flurry of activity. After a few phone calls, they finally managed to sort out An Rong’s solo performance, but Ada’s performance was an ensemble skit, and even if Ada decided not to perform, the skit couldn’t just be canceled.

Han Wen was desperate to find someone to replace Ada, but with only a few hours left before the Spring Festival Gala began, where on earth could she find someone to step in at the last minute?

Because of this, Han Wen was at her wit’s end. She contacted several actresses in succession, but none dared to take on such a burden, fearing they might mess it up.

There was no way around it, the task was too daunting. With only a few hours left and no rehearsals, how could anyone possibly go on stage? Moreover, back when Xinghui was pushing Ada, they went all out in this skit, fighting for more lines for Ada. So within the skit, Ada had a considerable number of lines. Memorizing them all in such a short time was difficult, and collaborating with other actors seemed impossible.

Han Wen was pacing anxiously backstage, while nearby, Huo Sining’s makeup artist had arrived. This makeup artist had seen Huo Sining’s final rehearsal and knew that Huo Sining’s style that day was indeed the most fitting for her, so they didn’t make any creative changes. They simply replicated the same look for Huo Sining.

After the makeup artist had finished, Huo Sining inadvertently noticed another makeup artist working on someone nearby. This person was wearing a mask, but Huo Sining easily recognized who it was through their eyes.

It was that same Sister Liu who previously conspired with An Rong and Wu Jingyi to trap her. Since this person was merely an accomplice, the substance Huo Sining put on Sister Liu was minimal, causing only a few red bumps without inducing unbearable itching or disfigurement.

Perhaps sensing Huo Sining’s probing gaze, Sister Liu abruptly lifted her head and locked eyes with Huo Sining. Huo Sining broke into a smile and even nodded slightly in greeting, but Sister Liu recoiled in fear, her pupils contracting, eyes brimming with panic and terror as if deeply afraid of Huo Sining.

”Hey, Sister Liu, what are you doing? You pulled my hair!”

Sister Liu was styling a female actress, her hands clutching a handful of the actress’s hair. As she recoiled, she yanked the actress’s hair backwards, causing the actress to yelp in pain and angrily glare at Sister Liu.

Sister Liu snapped back to reality, immediately apologizing to the actress repeatedly, ”I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose, my apologies...”

The actress sat back down with a furious face, still visibly fuming.

After further soothing, Sister Liu finally calmed the actress, continuing to style with caution. All the while, she sneaked glances at Huo Sining, who grinned meaningfully at her, causing Sister Liu to tremble nervously, her hand twitching involuntarily.

”Hiss— what are you doing, woman? If you can’t do it, just get lost and find someone else. You’re reckless with that blade near my face; are you trying to ruin my looks?!”

The sharp blade skimmed the actress’s cheek, prompting her to leap from her seat in rage, pointing at the makeup artist and scolding fiercely.

Huo Sining found the situation amusing and knew Sister Liu wouldn’t get away easily this time. She decided not to keep staring and was about to ask Gu Xu about the elders’ arrival when Han Wen rushed over, urgently addressing Huo Sining, ”Miss Huo, could I ask you for a favor?”

Huo Sining was puzzled, unsure of what Han Wen wanted, ”What is it?”

Han Wen glanced at the chaotic surroundings, instinctively frowning, before pulling Huo Sining to the other side without a word.

In a quiet office, Han Wen explained her intent, ”I heard from Chen Yu that you have an excellent memory, able to memorize books after just one read?”

Huo Sining wasn’t sure why Han Wen brought this up, but didn’t see any harm in admitting it, so she nodded frankly, ”One read is an exaggeration, but my memory is fairly good. After a couple of reads, I can usually remember most of it.”

Upon hearing this, Han Wen clapped her hands with excitement, saying happily, ”That’s fantastic, thank goodness we got you from S City; otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to handle this situation today.”

Huo Sining was somewhat confused, ”Director Han, what exactly do you mean? What do you need me to do?”

”Oh dear, I got ahead of myself with the excitement and forgot to explain.”

Han Wen then elaborated, ”Ada pulled out of her performance, leaving a role open in tonight’s skit. The issue is that there are two heavyweight national actors in the skit, and the audience is eagerly anticipating their performance. At this point, I can’t just cancel their act because of a minor role; I need someone to step in. But I’ve gone through seven or eight people now, and no one has the guts to take on the role!”

Huo Sining understood at this point, though she found it hard to believe, ”You want me to replace Ada?”

Han Wen nodded, ”Ada had quite a bit of stage time in this skit, with more than ten lines. For most people in such a tense environment, memorizing those lines and performing with seasoned actors would likely lead to mistakes, maybe even right on stage. But if it’s you, I’m confident there won’t be any problem. I saw your final rehearsal the other day; you were confident on stage without a single sign of stage fright, so I believe you can definitely handle Ada’s role.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but chuckle, never having imagined the situation would unfold like this. Wu Jingyi colluding with An Rong to deal with her only to be unknowingly retaliated against, and now, despite all the scheming and networking to get into the Spring Festival Gala, the role ultimately fell to her. Isn’t this a case of losing the lady and the soldiers?

It’s truly unexpected, and Huo Sining really didn’t intend to snatch Wu Jingyi’s role, yet fate led it to land in her lap after all.
