Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 900: Chapter 896: Shedding the Mortal Coil and Rebirth

”If you don’t want to, then I won’t force you, but can you let me visit often? Those old tea trees have accompanied me for most of my life, they’re like my old friends. To be honest with you, ever since I sold those pots of tea trees to you, I’ve lost my appetite and can’t even sleep well. I’m really not at ease without seeing how they’re doing.”

When Chen Qiankun said this, his eyes were full of regret and loss. As he made this request, his tone was almost pleading.

This request was not excessive, and Huo Sining couldn’t refuse anymore, so she nodded in agreement.

Moreover, seeing Chen Qiankun’s persistence, he would likely try to test her again, and certainly wouldn’t give up just like that on buying back those four pots of Old Pile Imperial Tea. Since Huo Sining didn’t want to sell, there was only one way — let Chen Qiankun see the changes in the growth of those four pots of ancient tea trees in her care.

As long as he saw those four pots of Imperial Tea, Chen Qiankun would realize that his once-proud tea cultivation methods were no match for hers, and by then, he would naturally give up.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining’s gaze darkened. She looked at Chen Qiankun, nodded, and said in a deep voice, ”Follow me.”

Leaving Guose Tianxiang, Huo Sining led Chen Qiankun to her villa. In the courtyard, the four pots of Old Pile Imperial Tea had been transplanted into new soil. Upon discovering that Huo Sining was so careless in planting the old tea trees in this kind of soil, Chen Qiankun was greatly shocked and was about to question her harshly. But as he looked up, he saw something almost unbelievable.

Chen Qiankun’s pupils suddenly contracted, and his eyes fixated on the four ancient tea trees before him, his mouth gaped wide open, unable to speak for a long time.

In front of him, the four ancient tea trees, including Da Hong Pao, Longjing, Tieguanyin, and Biluochun, were not only alive but had completely changed in appearance compared to when they were in his care.

Old trees, like people, have a certain temperament. Once a person’s temperament changes, it gives a completely new feeling, and these ancient tea trees were no different.

The several ancient tea trees in front of him seemed to have the same branches, yet appeared very different. Starting from the base of the tea trees, the branches faintly emitted a green hue, suggesting a rejuvenating regrowth. What’s more, new buds were growing at the tops of these old tea trees.

Even the Longjing ancient tea tree, which originally had a broken rhizome, had completely healed. There wasn’t a bit of evidence of past damage at the root area, and it seemed impossible to tell that this old pile had ever had a broken rhizome.

This was completely different from when Chen Qiankun had been caring for them. In less than three months, these four pots of Old Pile Imperial Tea seemed to have completely transformed.

This left Chen Qiankun with shock and deep confusion in his eyes. If it weren’t for the years he had spent with these old piles and could recognize them at a glance as his four old companions, he would have thought Huo Sining had replaced them.

The four old tea trees came from different regions, requiring different growth conditions and soil environments. Even Chen Qiankun himself couldn’t explain why these four old tea trees could coexist harmoniously in this Jiangnan courtyard and even showed a trend of vigorous growth.

A look of bewilderment appeared in Chen Qiankun’s eyes as he carefully examined these ancient tea trees, trying to figure out what was happening.

However, no matter how much experience he had, it was impossible for him to know that Huo Sining had cleared the blocked sieve tubes and vascular tissues in the branches, allowing the vitality of these ancient tea trees to become unobstructed.

Just like how blocked blood vessels in humans can lead to cardiovascular diseases, old piles have the same issue; the longer they live, the more dead branches they have. Huo Sining used the Spiritual Energy to restore these dead branches, which resulted in these ancient tea trees regaining their youthful vitality.

After studying these tea trees for several minutes, Chen Qiankun stood up helplessly, looked at Huo Sining, and asked with difficulty, ”Were these tea trees all planted by that Master of Flower Attendance friend of yours?”

Huo Sining somewhat awkwardly nodded and said, ”Mr. Chen, I’m really sorry, I lied to you at the market. I’m actually not a student of Professor Yan. My friend usually keeps a low profile and doesn’t like trouble, so I can’t easily use her name to show off. That’s why I said I was Professor Yan’s student. I didn’t mean to deceive you intentionally.”

Chen Qiankun didn’t care about this, he was more concerned about how these ancient tea trees were cultivated to become like this.

However, from what Huo Sining just said, he could hear the implications. This Master of Flower Attendance seemed to dislike being in the limelight and wasn’t interested in fame and fortune, someone who clearly kept a low profile and hidden in the city like a recluse.

This extinguished the last bit of hope in Chen Qiankun’s heart. He wanted to know how this person managed to cultivate the ancient tea trees to such an effect, but he could easily guess that this wish wouldn’t be fulfilled. It was their craft, and it certainly wouldn’t be secret that could be easily shared.

Thinking of this, Chen Qiankun instinctively looked at these tea trees again. His eyes showed greed and a desire to possess them, as well as thick regret and reluctance. But in the end, he had to force himself to clear away these complex thoughts.

He closed his eyes, rid himself of distractions, and when he opened them again, his gaze was clear. He let out a heavy sigh, perhaps in regret or helplessness, and said:

”Let it be, everything is about fate. These old companions are lucky to have you as their owner. I’m almost halfway into the grave myself and won’t have much time to accompany them. Though you’re young, it seems you’re a tea lover too. I can trust you with them knowing that you won’t waste their prime years.”

Huo Sining’s heart trembled, initially feeling a bit guilty, but after hearing Chen Qiankun’s words, she suddenly raised her head, full of sincerity and determination:

”Mr. Chen, don’t worry, I will treat them well. This is their home. If you want to come see them in the future, just come; you don’t need to notify me. In the spring of next year, I’d like to invite you to taste the first batch of spring tea I fry.”

Professor Chen was shocked and surprised, scrutinizing Huo Sining’s face for a while until he finally confirmed that the girl wasn’t lying. A hint of joy emerged in his heart, and he nodded, saying in a deep voice, ”Alright, I remember, and as long as you don’t mind, the old man will surely come!”
