Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 899: Chapter 895: Reluctant Request

”Xiao Qin’s student?”

Chen Qiankun looked at Qin Shaoyou with some surprise, ”Xiao Qin has been with Professor Gan for several years now, right? If I remember correctly, you’re studying bioengineering?”

Qin Shaoyou nodded: ”Yes, I’ve been working on developing stable gene cultivation techniques for angelfish with Professor Gan for the past two years.”

Chen Qiankun couldn’t help but frown: ”That young girl named Huo something, is she also studying bioengineering?”

Qin Shaoyou laughed: ”Mr. Chen, you may not know her, but many professors over at the biology lab do. She was the winner of last year’s betta fish competition and the true initiator of the Huaxia Koi research project that caused quite a stir recently in the biology lab.”

Chen Qiankun was instantly stunned: ”She raised those Huaxia Koi?”

Qin Shaoyou nodded: ”Not only the Huaxia Koi. This young girl has quite the knowledge in fish breeding. The angelfish maternal sample for the project I’m doing with Professor Gan was provided by her.”

Chen Qiankun felt even more puzzled: ”So she’s into breeding, but doesn’t know anything about flowers? Then what was up with that Golden Osmanthus just now?”

Qin Shaoyou’s eyebrows twitched, not knowing why Chen Qiankun asked this.

On the side, Yan Xuesong’s expression didn’t look particularly good. That Golden Osmanthus slipped out from his hands. He had indeed said he couldn’t save that diseased plant, and now someone had revived it. Chen Qiankun incessantly pursued the root of the matter, making Yan Xuesong feel that Chen Qiankun was deliberately putting him in a tough spot, and he felt slightly annoyed.

”How could a young girl have such skills? She found someone to save that Golden Osmanthus, claiming to know a friend who is a floral master. Xiao Qin, this girl is your student, please ask her thoroughly next time. Better yet, arrange for her and her friend to meet me. I must find out how this person resurrected the root-rotten Golden Osmanthus!”

Yan Xuesong didn’t forget to glance at Chen Qiankun with a proud cold snort.

Seeing Yan Xuesong’s expression, Chen Qiankun knew he misunderstood. Colleagues easily develop repellent emotions, especially since he and Yan Xuesong hold similar positions at the institute, they have long had a competitive relationship behind the scenes. His words leading to Yan Xuesong’s misunderstanding wasn’t surprising.

But Chen Qiankun felt aggrieved, heavens above, he really had no intention of mocking Yan Xuesong. The reason he questioned Qin Shaoyou so closely was entirely for his own purposes, right?

Back then, Huo Sining had spent over a million to buy his four pots of Old Pile Imperial Tea, and he regretted it as soon as he got home but couldn’t find Huo Sining. He had no choice but to live with his regret.

Now, having gone through exhaustive search to no avail, he unexpectedly encountered her directly here. Of course, he couldn’t miss this chance. Even if he can’t get the tea trees back, it’d be nice to occasionally see them.

Moreover, after seeing the revival of the Old Golden Osmanthus, Chen Qiankun felt a faint hope emerge.

Amidst those four pots of old tea, one Imperial Longjing was knocked to the ground. However, back then, Huo Sining didn’t mind, spending fifty thousand to take that Longjing away as well.

Chen Qiankun remembered vividly how that Imperial Longjing looked, its branches broken and roots severed. He had lost all hope for that tea plant, assuming it couldn’t survive.

But now, seeing an Old Golden Osmanthus with rotted roots revived, Chen Qiankun couldn’t help but have a slight extravagant hope that perhaps that old pile Longjing could also be resurrected by that young girl’s friend.

Having thought this, Chen Qiankun couldn’t sit still anymore. Shortly after the dishes were served, he hurriedly ate a few bites and then found an excuse to slip out from the private room, heading straight to Lan Que Xuan.

Meanwhile, Zhao Guotian had just delivered twenty thousand in cash to Huo Sining in the private room and asked two employees to move the Old Golden Osmanthus to his office. He chatted with Huo Sining a bit more. Just as Huo Sining and the others finished eating and prepared to leave the private room, they coincidentally bumped into Chen Qiankun head-on.

”Professor Chen, have you finished eating?” Zhao Guotian saw Chen Qiankun and thought he was hurrying off to the restroom, so he asked.

Chen Qiankun waved his hand and, lifting his gaze, fixed his eyes intently on Huo Sining.

Earlier, as Chen Qiankun was following behind Yan Xuesong, Huo Sining hadn’t paid him much attention. But now, bumping into him head-on, she noticed the plainly dressed elderly professor looked somewhat familiar.

Huo Sining stared at Chen Qiankun for a few seconds, rapidly scouring her mind, and soon she matched the professor with the face of the old flower grower she encountered at the suburban market not long ago.

Huo Sining was immediately surprised, remembering she had once deceived Chen Qiankun at the market by claiming to be Yan Xuesong’s student. She felt suddenly awkward and guilty, quickly lowering her head, embarrassed to meet Chen Qiankun’s eyes any longer.

Chen Qiankun, seeing Huo Sining avoiding his gaze, wasn’t about to let her have her way. He straightforwardly expressed his intention: ”Young lady, how are my old companions doing now?”

Huo Sining had no choice but to raise her head. With a firm posture, she responded: ”Mr. Chen, those old tea plants are all doing quite well.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Qiankun’s face lit up with joy, anxiously asking: ”What about the Imperial Longjing Tea?”

”It’s doing very well, it has been revived, and perhaps next year it will yield new tea.”

A look of excitement flashed in Chen Qiankun’s eyes, his previously unsettled heart finally finding peace. He lifted his head, feeling a bit embarrassed, hesitated for a moment before managing to ask: ”Young lady, I have a request if you don’t mind. Could you consider transferring those old tea plants back to me?”

Huo Sining was taken aback, frowning slightly: ”Well...Sorry, Professor Chen, I don’t have any such intention for the time being.”

Even though he was the original owner of those four pots of Imperial Tea, Huo Sining remained firm. Those old tea plants were now in her possession—legally purchased—and she didn’t feel guilty owning them. With the Spirit of Azure Pearl, those tea plants could realize their greatest value in her care; letting them go would make finding equally fine old pile tea trees again nearly impossible.

Chen Qiankun probably thought of this too, which is why he felt increasingly regretful. Seeing Huo Sining’s firm rejection left a hint of embarrassment in his eyes, but it quickly dissipated.

Putting herself in his shoes, had he been Huo Sining, he wouldn’t easily sell them either after acquiring the four pots of old tea.
