Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 896: Chapter 892: Resurrection

Yan Xuesong was dumbfounded.

His gaze was fixed on the pot of Old Golden Osmanthus in the room, scrutinizing it thoroughly, missing no detail of any branch, and staring at it for nearly ten minutes. Finally, he was convinced that this Old Golden Osmanthus was indeed the sick plant that Zhao Guotian moved out of Guose Tianxiang in July.

However, this discovery did not bring any delight to Yan Xuesong; instead, his eyes grew even deeper and more contemplative.

If he remembered correctly, back then, this Old Golden Osmanthus was showing signs of death; many branches had already withered. More importantly, after experiencing both drought and flood, the roots were completely rotten.

Such a Golden Osmanthus could definitely be considered at death’s door, at least to the point where he had no way of rescuing it, which was why he had told Zhao Guotian he was powerless and directly sentenced this Old Golden Osmanthus to death.

But somehow, a plant he deemed irretrievable was miraculously revived, not only bringing withered branches to lush life, forming new buds but also even flowering early.

Yan Xuesong recalled the scene when Huo Sining confidently promised Zhao Guotian that she had a friend who was a master of flower attendance, unparalleled in skill, capable of resurrecting sick plants.

At that time, Yan Xuesong found these words incredibly amusing, so much so that he didn’t take Huo Sining’s words to heart, even thinking she was just boasting.

Despite being a professor at the S University Research Institute specializing in plant breeding and cultivation, he had declared it was impossible, so who was this master Huo Sining spoke of? Could they possess some sort of magic?

Back then, Yan Xuesong scorned Huo Sining’s words, but now, looking at this healthy and thriving Golden Osmanthus plant, he could utter nothing of the sort.

Someone had dealt him a severe blow in what he considered his most authoritative field of plant cultivation, so sharp, it stung. Although embarrassed, his shock was greater, and his eyes were full of curiosity and exploration as he looked at the female student opposite him.

There truly was such a master of flower attendance; how on earth was it done?

Qin Shaoyou and Hu Yongyuan, who had witnessed the state of this Old Golden Osmanthus, now also found disbelief filling their eyes.

Hu Yongyuan remembered meeting Huo Sining for the first time at the Flower and Bird Market, where the girl accidentally broke a detached Petal Lotus in his hand at the shop’s entrance.

At the time, though the Petal Lotus was broken, the girl showed no disdain, but instead joyfully asked him and Uncle Ma for it and took it away.

Back then, Hu Yongyuan did not understand this little girl’s actions, but seeing the Old Golden Osmanthus now, he understood her intentions.

With a master of flower attendance who could even rescue an Old Golden Osmanthus with rotten roots, a Petal Lotus with broken branches might well survive.

Hu Yongyuan was almost sure that the Petal Lotus he thought was certainly dead was now thriving in the girl’s villa, probably growing better than any Orchid Grass he had in his collection.

Recalling the eight thousand bucks and sweet-talk he spent getting a Petal Lotus from Uncle Ma, only to have it so easily obtained by the girl, Hu Yongyuan felt both depressed and envious.

Compared to Hu Yongyuan, Qin Shaoyou’s feelings were even more complex.

Qin Shaoyou had witnessed Huo Sining’s exquisite fish-rearing skills, raising angelfish and Huaxia Koi, capabilities not many could envy. Initially, he had his doubts, but the girl explained that she had a master who taught her only a smidgen of his talents.

Seeing this Old Golden Osmanthus now, Qin Shaoyou had a strong intuition that the master of flower attendance Huo Sining mentioned could very well be a fabrication, and it’s highly likely that reviving this Old Golden Osmanthus was her own feat!

Everyone in the room was lost in their thoughts, and no one noticed an old man in the corner. After glancing at the Old Golden Osmanthus a few times, he looked at the young girl standing in the center of the room, his eyes flickering with a thoughtful glint.

Huo Sining invited Zhong Zifan and Liao Song to Guose Tianxiang for a meal and took the opportunity to retrieve the Golden Osmanthus from her storage ring. When she brought the plant into Guose Tianxiang, Zhao Guotian’s expression changed instantly, as if he had seen a ghost.

Now, Yan Xuesong had the same expression, and Huo Sining felt she had achieved her purpose. She didn’t care what these people were thinking; no matter how suspicious they were, they couldn’t possibly guess she had a Water-Repelling Pearl filled with spiritual energy. So she smiled brightly and asked Zhao Guotian:

”Boss Zhao, we had an agreement, remember? If I really did save this Old Golden Osmanthus, you agreed to give it to me. You wouldn’t go back on your word, would you?”

Zhao Guotian, still in shock, had his facial expression freeze upon hearing Huo Sining’s words.

He had thought this Old Golden Osmanthus was beyond saving, so he simply gave up and even had the store employees throw it on the steps to let it fend for itself. Under these circumstances, Huo Sining proposed a three-month term and pledged that if the plant couldn’t be revived, she would compensate ten times the price.

Zhao Guotian, being a businessman and primarily driven by profit, saw this as a win-win bet and did not refuse.

But now he lost the bet. The plant was revived by Huo Sining; he not only missed out on the two million compensation, but he also had to give up the Old Golden Osmanthus, which naturally pained Zhao Guotian.

After all, the plant cost him over two hundred thousand yuan, and he had always cherished it. If not for his wife’s inadequate care, its roots wouldn’t have rotted.

If the plant had died, he would have been heartbroken but helpless. But now that it had been brought back to life, flourishing, and more vibrant than before, he had to hand it over, which he couldn’t naturally take in stride.

His expression became somewhat reluctant, casting an awkward glance at Huo Sining, signaling to Yan Xuesong, who ignored him entirely. He then forced a smile and said, ”Miss Huo, I’ve grown quite attached to this plant after nurturing it for years. Could you...”

Huo Sining had expected Zhao Guotian wouldn’t honor his promise and smiled, ”Boss Zhao, doing business should mean keeping your word. With a big business like yours, you wouldn’t want to ruin your reputation, right?”

Zhao Guotian broke into a cold sweat instantly, ”Miss Huo, you’re kidding. My word is my bond. My promise is still valid. I just wanted to ask if you’d be willing to sell the plant back to me. If so, I am willing to buy it back at an increased price.”
