Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 895: Chapter 891: The Fragrance of Osmanthus in August

Daphne thought that Xiagnai had been prepared in advance and had foreseen this crisis before the fire. So, after the fire, they quietly contacted suppliers in the Philippines and bought a batch of raw materials at a high price. That’s why, while companies like theirs were still struggling, they had already solved the problem.

However, what Daphne hadn’t expected was that after Bonnet’s investigation, the news that came back shocked her greatly.

Xiagnai’s raw materials were not sourced from the Philippines at all, but purchased from Huaxia Country.

At first, Daphne was skeptical of this news. After thinking for a while, she directly called Wittmore.

Though the two were business rivals, they were good friends in daily life, and they had some overlap. So when Daphne called, Wittmore was surprised but didn’t directly refuse to answer.

After some small talk, Daphne directly asked what she wanted to know. Since Wittmore had already signed the contract with Huo Sining, he didn’t fear any tricks from Daphne and straightforwardly explained how he had procured the raw materials.

After finishing, Wittmore half-boasted, half-rejoiced, ”When I received that email from the Easterner, I thought it was a scam. Thankfully, I wasn’t foolish at the time and decided to see what it was all about, and who would have thought it actually solved the problem.”

”Huaxia is vast and resource-rich, I think there must be more than one place where Manila grows. Daphne, if you really can’t find a solution, just send someone to Huaxia and ask around, you might find other Manila jungles.”

Wittmore’s words weren’t entirely sincere, and Daphne could tell. Yet, she no longer cared about his sarcastic remarks at this point.

When Wittmore mentioned the email from the Easterner, Daphne was stunned. Her mind went blank, and she could only think, how is that possible?

She remembered that email. The day Bonnet was reporting company affairs to her, an email had come from the Huaxia agent. At the time, Bonnet had even specifically told her about it.

But Daphne didn’t take the email seriously and even regarded it with disdain, thinking it was a low-quality joke by a Chinese person, so she paid it no mind.

Now Wittmore was telling her that this email she had looked down upon was what gave Xiagnai the opportunity to not only solve the raw material crisis but also secure an exclusive supply. In the future, Xiagnai would have a continuous supply of balsam raw material with no fear of shortage.

Daphne felt both regretful and angry. If she had taken the email seriously back then, this opportunity wouldn’t have been monopolized by Xiagnai alone. At least Di’ao could have gotten a piece of the action.

But alas, she had been too narrow-minded, judging everything through personal emotions and grudges, condemning all Huaxia people, which led to her reaping what she sowed, missing out on a great opportunity.

No matter how regretful she was, it was already too late. Opportunities are fleeting, and she had no chance to recover now.

Unlike Daphne’s anxiety and regret, Huo Sining was truly at ease during this time. Since Xiagnai signed a cooperation agreement with Shengtang, her responsibilities had lessened. After sending out invitations for Jubao Pavilion’s opening to everyone, she had nothing more to do in the Imperial Capital and returned directly to S City.

Soon after returning to S City, Huo Sining’s visa was approved, along with an acceptance letter for the exchange program from Sota University. Due to the sudden plan to go to Dongyang, the school organized a two-week emergency training for the thirty students going to Sota University.

By the end of the month, with the training finished, Huo Sining could proficiently grasp some basic Dongyang expressions. Just then, Zhong Zifan and Liao Song came from Fuzhou, bringing the Pigeon Blood Red and Gold-threaded Jadeite that Huo Sining had left at their gambling stone shop. Huo Sining was planning to take them out for dinner.

The only problem was deciding where to eat. Huo Sining was troubled by this. As she flipped through her cardholder, she suddenly came across a platinum VIP membership card. Seeing the classic ”Guose Tianxiang” title in four large characters, she suddenly remembered the owner of that sickly pot of Old Golden Osmanthus, the boss of Guose Tianxiang, Zhao Guotian.

That day at Guose Tianxiang, she had agreed with Zhao Guotian on a three-month period. Calculating the time, it was almost up, and with the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, if the osmanthus bloomed now, it wouldn’t arouse suspicion.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining’s heart stirred, and a small smile appeared on her lips.

After picking up Zhong Zifan and Liao Song, Huo Sining drove them straight to Guose Tianxiang.

News traveled quickly to Zhao Guotian. Just as Huo Sining presented the VIP membership card and sat in a private room named Lan Que Xuan, the slightly portly middle-aged man rushed over to Lan Que Xuan.

By coincidence, not long after Huo Sining arrived at Guose Tianxiang, Qin Shaoyou and Yan Xuesong also arrived there. Almost simultaneously, Yan Xuesong received a call from Zhao Guotian.

”Old Yan, something big has happened; that female student has really saved that pot of Old Golden Osmanthus!”

Zhao Guotian’s words left Yan Xuesong puzzled, full of confusion and disbelief: ”Which female student?”

Zhao Guotian wished he could knock some sense into Yan Xuesong through the phone, ”Ah, the student with the surname Huo, from Xiao Qin’s class; the one who claimed she could save my pot of Old Golden Osmanthus and made a three-month agreement!”

The group hadn’t even stepped inside the entrance of Guose Tianxiang, and Yan Xuesong shivered all over. Zhao Guotian’s reminder immediately brought back the memory. Recalling the symptoms of the Old Golden Osmanthus at that time, a multitude of emotions surged in Yan Xuesong’s heart. After a long while, he calmed down and asked hoarsely, ”Where are you?”

”Lan Que Xuan, just come over, it’ll definitely surprise you!”

”Wait for me!” Yan Xuesong could barely hide his astonishment in his eyes, hurriedly ended the call, and impatiently rushed in.

”Elder Yan, what’s up?” asked an old man standing beside him, noticing Yan Xuesong’s unusual expression.

With a complex look in his eyes, Yan Xuesong glanced at Qin Shaoyou, shook his head silently, and followed by the others, headed towards Lan Que Xuan.

Just as they reached the entrance of Lan Que Xuan, a wafting scent of osmanthus filled the air. Yan Xuesong’s gaze quickly settled on the pot of Old Golden Osmanthus placed at the center of the room.

Where his eyes rested, the crown of the tree was full, the old leaves deep green, and new shoots had emerged from the branches bearing tender buds. The branches of the Old Golden Osmanthus were dotted with clusters of golden-yellow buds, exuding a rich osmanthus fragrance!
