Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 886: Chapter 882: The Weight of This Thing Is Wrong

Huo Sining was going to take the item to find Zhou Shitao, and the other people, knowing Zhou Shitao’s identity, were instantly excited.

The group drove to the Zhou Family home. Zhou Shitao was playing chess in the courtyard with an old man. When he saw Huo Sining coming in with a box, his hand holding the white chess piece paused. He glanced at the box and asked with a smile, ”Did you get something good?”

Huo Sining smiled embarrassedly, ”The item is good, but how to take it out is a problem. I need to trouble you to handle it.”

Zhou Shitao nodded and said bluntly, ”Wait here.”

After saying that, he really left the group in the courtyard and turned back to concentrate on playing chess with the old man.

Huo Sining was already used to Zhou Shitao’s temperament and didn’t find it strange, so she turned and walked into the house.

Over there, Old Lady Zhou was directing the household help to handle the abalone Huo Sining had brought her. Seeing Huo Sining walk in, she was a bit surprised, ”Ning, didn’t you go back?”

Huo Sining smiled, ”I came back again, maybe I’ll even stay for a meal with you.”

Old Lady Zhou was immediately overjoyed, ”That’s great! Every time you’re in such a rush, you never stay for a meal. Wait a moment, your master’s wife will cook for you herself and make some of your favorite dishes.”

Huo Sining felt a bit embarrassed, ”No need to trouble yourself, I also have a few friends with me, just let the help make a few casual dishes.”

”How can that be? Your friends are our guests too; we can’t neglect them. You go do your thing, don’t worry about this. Your master’s wife has it under control.” Old Lady Zhou scolded Huo Sining with a glance and gently pushed her out of the kitchen.

Huo Sining smiled and was walking out when her eyes caught a glimpse of a pot of flowers on a low table in the living room corner. She stopped in surprise, ”Master’s wife, when did you get an interest in keeping flowers? Didn’t you say before that they’re hard to take care of?”

Mentioning this, Old Lady Zhou’s face showed a strange expression, ”It’s not that I like it. You’ve seen this flower before, it’s the one your Senior Brother Ji Kun gave me. Initially, I almost nurtured it to death. Didn’t I transplant it to the yard? I remember you helped me with that.”

”It’s really strange. I took great care of it in the pot, yet it got sick very easily. When I planted it in the yard and basically ignored it, it ended up thriving.”

”Not only did it survive, but it also bloomed in July and August, which was unusual. Even your Senior Brother found it odd. We had people look at it but couldn’t figure out why.”

”It wasn’t just blooming—it bloomed for nearly two months. I hadn’t noticed much until people started asking about its price to buy it. Seeing how well it was doing, I didn’t want to sell it, but that caused more trouble.”

”Just a few days ago, when your Master and I went out, a thief came to our house. We thought they were after your Master’s collection, which scared us quite a bit. When the police caught the thief, we found out they were after the flower.”

”After hearing about it, your Senior Brother worried that keeping the flower in the yard would attract more thieves, so he transplanted it back to the pot and into the house.”

”This time, thankfully, the flower wasn’t as delicate. Your Master said it has become tougher after surviving adversity. I don’t get much about Plain Lotus or Mutated Orchids, but hearing one pot of orchids could sell for hundreds of thousands of yuan makes no sense to me. Money doesn’t grow on trees, spending so much on a pot of grass... I really can’t understand what those people are thinking.”

With her eyes full of confusion, Old Lady Zhou kept shaking her head as she spoke.

Huo Sining felt a bit guilty, knowing the Spring Orchid’s mutation was her doing, but Old Lady Zhou didn’t suspect her at all. She was relieved and said with a laugh:

”Each to their own. Look at the antiques circle—a single ancient painting or Yuan Blue-and-White Porcelain Vase fetches millions at auctions. If you think about it, it’s just a painting or a vase. Yet, people bid high prices for them; it’s the same thing here.”

Old Lady Zhou couldn’t help but laugh and sighed, ”True, many things in the antique business are just hyped up. Even things with no historical research value can see their prices soar if linked to a famous person.”

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”Since you don’t lack money, if the flower is thriving, keep it. It’s nice to have in the living room.”

Old Lady Zhou looked helpless, ”It’s not that I don’t want to, but it’s such a treasure, and I can’t take care of it. I’m afraid it’ll get sick again.”

”Let Senior Brother Ji Kun take care of it. He brought it, so he should be responsible for it,” Huo Sining suggested mischievously.

Old Lady Zhou couldn’t help but tap Huo Sining’s nose and smiled, ”You little trickster, always teasing your Senior Brother Ji.”

Huo Sining stuck out her tongue playfully at Old Lady Zhou before turning and walking out with a smile.

Outside, Zhou Shitao’s chess game was concluding. Both sides were evenly matched, and it ended with Zhou Shitao losing by three points. Unfazed by the loss, Zhou Shitao cheerfully handed over a prize, a bottle of top-quality Maotai liquor, to the old man, saying, ”Take the liquor, but don’t think this settles it. Next time, I won’t let you win that easily.”

The old man, who had noticed Huo Sining and the others, guessed Zhou Shitao had matters to attend to and left happily with the bottle.

Zhou Shitao then stood up and walked to the study, with Huo Sining and her company following obediently. In the study, Zhou Shitao directly asked, ”Where’s the item?”

Huo Sining didn’t waste words. She took out the Tieli Wood Box and brought out the ”Qing Imitation Xuande Furnace” from the box.

At first, Zhou Shitao showed no expression upon seeing the Xuande Furnace, but as he took it in his hand and felt the weight, his face changed several times. He examined the incense burner inside and out silently before suddenly saying, ”The weight of this item is off.”
