Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 868: Chapter 864: Human Body with Fish Tail

Machine tool technology from forty years ago may not necessarily be more advanced than today’s domestic machine tool technology, but the performance of Dongyang-made machine tools is much more stable than domestic ones.

Domestic machine tools don’t have major issues, but they have a lot of minor problems, and maintenance time is longer than working time. This is why even Ouyang Jun and the others would go through so much trouble and expense to smuggle machine tools from Dongyang.

Eighty million is no small sum; it’s indeed a pity to just leave it like this. But if we delay because of this problem, all the previous efforts would be in vain. So Huo Sining asked unwillingly, ”Is there really no other way to get the latest machine tools?”

Ouyang Jun shook his head and smiled self-deprecatingly, ”Impossible, can’t even think about it. Those Dongyang devils control this so strictly and perversely, especially defending against us in Huaxia Country, like guarding against thieves.”

Can they not defend? Huaxia Country is a big copycat; while it can’t do much else, its imitation abilities are top-notch. If the latest machine tool really made it back, it wouldn’t be long before Huaxia Country could understand the intricate details and then manufacture it themselves.

”Dongyang people are very shrewd. They value this technology more than their prime minister and would never let anyone from our country purchase it.” Qin Tian couldn’t help but sneer.

”What about through a third-party country?” Gu Xu, unlike Ouyang Jun and the others who were stuck in a rut, thought of a roundabout way after understanding their predicament.

Ouyang Jun’s eyes lit up at Gu Xu’s suggestion, but soon he thought of something and shook his head:

”I’m afraid it’s not that easy. This thing is too eye-catching. No matter where you transport it from, it’ll attract attention. By then, it would be worse if we couldn’t get it into our hands and instead cause trouble for the people helping us. That would really be trying to steal a chicken and losing the rice. I just pity the few machine tools sitting in the warehouse. I was counting on them to increase the company’s production capacity. Looks like this eighty million is going down the drain.”

Gu Xu frowned, contemplating for a moment before nodding lightly and saying, ”This matter can’t be rushed. I’ll think of other ways. Meanwhile, you should prepare alternatives. I’ll notify you if I have any updates.”

Huo Sining had a sudden thought and couldn’t help asking, ”Is the machine tool you’re talking about very large?”

In Huo Sining’s mind, industrial mechanical products are massive. Plus, Ouyang Jun had mentioned that this thing was too conspicuous, so Huo Sining naturally assumed that this five-axis machine tool must be huge, probably requiring a large truck of dozens of tons to transport.

But Ouyang Jun’s next words surprised her.

Ouyang Jun didn’t know why Huo Sining would ask such a question, but he smiled and explained, ”It’s not that large. A machine tool is about the size of a small car. It’s primarily used for producing precision instruments, and the key lies in its high-precision system, not its material or size.”

Hearing this, Huo Sining was a bit surprised. She had been worried that the machine tool was too large for her storage ring, not knowing if it could hold one. But if it’s only about the size of a car, her storage ring should suffice.

With this in mind, she couldn’t help but smile slightly and said, ”I almost forgot to mention, I’ll be going to Dongyang as an exchange student for three months in mid-October. I can look into it for you and maybe even help bring the machine tools back.”

Ouyang Jun immediately laughed, ”How could you handle this as an exchange student? I’m dealing with big smugglers who can’t even manage it. It’s okay, little sister-in-law, I appreciate your willingness. Although it’s troublesome, there’s always a way out eventually, and we’ll find a solution!”

Ouyang Jun didn’t take Huo Sining’s words to heart and thought she was just being polite, so he didn’t pay much attention.

Huo Sining also knew she had no proof. She didn’t say more and decided to leave it until she got to Dongyang.

That night, Huo Sining once again returned to the old house. As before, Uncle Tong was still not there, as if he had never existed and had suddenly vanished from the old house.

Huo Sining didn’t know what she felt. She hoped Uncle Tong would appear and explain what was going on, but deep down, she also resisted and even hoped he would never return.

Huo Sining slept in the bedroom where her grandmother used to stay, spreading the mattress and bedding, and lay down quietly on the intricately carved dark brown canopy bed. When she turned her head, she could see the dressing table, curio shelf, and the ornate screen on the east side.

Staring at the screen with the woman with seaweed-like brown hair and the blue ocean-like pattern, Huo Sining felt a wave of drowsiness and unconsciously fell into a deep sleep.

She didn’t know how long she slept, but when she vaguely regained some clarity, she opened her eyes in a daze and was stunned.

She felt herself in a vast ocean, floating in the seawater under the silver moonlight. Nearby were hard rocks and a wide green island. The waves were lapping, leaving Huo Sining confused and shocked. She didn’t understand how she had gone from sleeping in the old house in the Imperial Capital to being on the sea.

Just as she was about to stand up and walk to the shore, she heard laughter nearby. A few beautiful girls ran over from the shore with spinning wheels in their hands, sat on the rocks not far away, and began spinning while singing.

The singing seemed to be filled with magic, captivating Huo Sining. Although she didn’t understand the language or the song, she felt a familiar and intimate sensation deep within her, as if she could join them in singing at any moment.

The spinning wheels continued to turn, and thin silk threads emerged from the wheels. Huo Sining stayed quietly in the water, watching the clear blue sky, the seabirds flying close to the surface, and the radiant spinning girls. A strange feeling arose in her heart as if she had seen this scene somewhere before.

Instinctively, she looked down to see her reflection in the water.

What she saw left her mind blank.

Under the blue seawater, her two long legs had disappeared, replaced by a long, swaying fishtail. Her body was covered in smooth, thick scales that shone beautifully under the silver moonlight.
