Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 885: Chapter 881: Genuine Goods

”Miss, you don’t need to comfort me. It’s the father’s fault for not teaching. My husband and I didn’t educate our sons and grandsons well, and that’s our own mistake. Now I’m just tasting the fruit of our own seeds.”

Noticing Huo Sining’s hesitation, Madam Yan shook her head and advised, ”While he’s in the study, you should leave with the items. Otherwise, when he comes down, who knows what kind of trouble he might cause. The matter of money isn’t urgent.”

Huo Sining frowned and looked at the old lady, hesitated for a moment, and upon hearing the faint sound of rummaging from the other side, she realized it would be unwise to stay any longer. She nodded, got up, and apologized to the old lady:

”Alright then, please take care, mind your health. We will leave now. Old Madam, I’ll leave you my phone number. If you need anything, give me a call and we will contact you later.”

Saying this, Huo Sining pulled out a business card from her pocket and handed it to the old lady. She glanced upstairs and signaled to Li Quan to carry the bag holding the two boxes. The four of them quietly left the courtyard, got in the car, started the engine, reversed, and swiftly left the Governor’s Old Residence.

The journey was silent, with all four of them deep in thought. Only after leaving the Xicheng District did Qiao Zhenhuan burst out with a curse: ”Damn it, what a repressed feeling, I’ve never seen such shameless scum treating their own family like that. Aren’t they afraid of going to hell?!”

”Hmph, hell? Didn’t you hear him? He doesn’t believe in ghosts or gods. If he’s not afraid of that, what else would he care about? No wonder the old lady guarded against them like thieves. She’d rather sell things cheaply to us than leave them to her grandson. She’s right! If I were Madam Yan, I’d do the same. I’d donate the items to a museum rather than give them to those good-for-nothings!” Jiang Xiaoqin also voiced her indignation.

Li Quan nodded in agreement while driving: ”People like this need a good lesson. Let me run into him next time, I’ll beat him up every time I see him!”

Listening to their increasingly outrageous comments, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile woefully. Looking at the items in the bag, her eyes showed a hint of worry.

Earlier, when Madam Yan’s blood pressure spiked, Huo Sining checked her health while infusing Spiritual Energy and found out that the old lady’s physical condition was poor. Her entire body showed obstructions in many meridians, and all her organs were in a state of failure. Additionally, losing her husband was a severe blow, and without care from her descendants, the old lady’s situation seemed dire.

But after all, it’s someone else’s family matter. No matter how concerned she was, Huo Sining couldn’t interfere. She could only hope that the old lady could let go, not hold onto resentment, and live happily for a few more years.

Back at the Jubao Pavilion, Huo Sining eagerly took out the two boxes.

”I’m quite interested in what’s inside this brocade box. I’ll borrow it to study for a few days first.” As soon as she took out the box, Huo Sining grabbed the one containing the Classic of Mountains and Seas.

Li Quan and Jiang Xiaoqin naturally had no objections. The brocade box was something Huo Sining had bought with her own money for five hundred thousand. Even the shop was her private property. If it weren’t for the agreement with Madam Yan to display the brocade box in the store for consignment, they wouldn’t have any objections even if Huo Sining took it directly.

However, Qiao Zhenhuan gave Huo Sining a peculiar look. He had seen the beads and the book in the brocade box and found nothing extraordinary. But knowing Huo Sining’s skills firsthand, he was aware she wouldn’t make a fuss over nothing. If she was so anxious to keep the brocade box, could it be that there was something he missed?

Qiao Zhenhuan’s mind was spinning as he tried to recall the scene, but he couldn’t come up with anything. Reluctantly, he glanced at the box in Huo Sining’s arms and decided to drop the matter for now.

Seeing Huo Sining take away the brocade box, Li Quan squatted down to open the Tieli wood box, intending to clean the Qing Imitation Xuande Furnace inside and place it on the shelf for the opening day.

At that moment, Huo Sining suddenly shouted, ”Wait.”

Li Quan’s hand recoiled instantly. He looked at Huo Sining in surprise, ”What’s wrong?”

Huo Sining had a strange smile on her face, ”There’s a problem with this incense burner.”

Hearing her, Li Quan felt a jolt in his heart and his face turned pale. He stammered, ”A problem? What kind of problem? Is it a fake?”

This was his first time visiting someone’s house to collect items. If it turned out to be a fake, it would ruin his reputation and he might as well close the shop.

Huo Sining gave Li Quan an exasperated look, ”A fake? Use your brain! If it were a fake, would I have offered forty thousand for it? This isn’t a charity. I wouldn’t give away forty thousand for nothing.”

”Then what do you mean by having a problem? You scared me,” Li Quan muttered in a somewhat aggrieved tone.

Huo Sining resisted the urge to roll her eyes, ”You, dealing in antiques, don’t even understand the jargon? Who said there’s a problem means it’s a bad thing?”

Qiao Zhenhuan immediately caught on and looked at the Xuande Furnace in surprise, ”You mean, this incense burner is a steal?”

Huo Sining nodded, ”A huge steal. I couldn’t say anything back at the Governor’s Mansion, but if I’m right, this incense burner has been tampered with.”

Qiao Zhenhuan and Li Quan exchanged glances, while Li Quan couldn’t hold back, ”Tampered with? I can’t see anything. This is a bronze piece, can it be tampered with? Could it have been reworked with a layer of copper?”

Huo Sining’s expression turned peculiar. Seeing her look, Li Quan’s heart skipped a beat, ”No way, did I guess right?”

Huo Sining grinned and nodded, ”I can’t give you a definite answer, but I’m seventy percent sure that this incense burner hides a Ming Ding Xuande Furnace inside. Not a replica, an authentic Xuande Dynasty Incense Burner, a genuine article!”

Li Quan and Qiao Zhenhuan’s mouths dropped in shock. Jiang Xiaoqin, not understanding what a Xuande Furnace was, couldn’t help but ask, ”What’s the difference between a Qing Imitation and an authentic Xuande Dynasty Xuande Furnace?”

Li Quan and Qiao Zhenhuan almost spoke in unison, ”Of course there’s a difference, a huge one!”

”What difference?” Jiang Xiaoqin asked curiously.

Li Quan swallowed hard and said hoarsely, ”If it’s truly an authentic Xuande Furnace, its price is at least ten times higher than the Qing Imitation version.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Xiaoqin stumbled and almost fell to the ground.
