Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 871: Chapter 867: Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law United as One

”This is Mrs. An, and this is her niece, they’re just here for a visit.”

Mrs. Gu didn’t like these uninvited guests. Her attitude towards Liu Manshu and Yao Xinzhu was already somewhat perfunctory; she just wanted to say a few casual words and send them away. Now with Huo Sining coming over, Mrs. Gu was naturally more than happy about it and immediately moved towards Huo Sining, not showing much enthusiasm towards the two sitting in the living room.

Liu Manshu and Huo Sining had not dealt with each other for the first time. At Chun Jing Garden, Huo Sining publicly embarrassed her, and later at Dashilan, her daughter An Yueru offended Huo Sining over a pair of enamel, ultimately being forced to go abroad. Her husband, An Zhonghai, also stopped being a department head, never to advance further.

Liu Manshu did not consider these incidents her fault. On the contrary, she was full of disdain and contempt for Huo Sining. How could a rural orphan girl, without relying on the Lu Family and Gu Family, dare to target their An family? She couldn’t understand what the Lu Family and Gu Family saw in her to give her so much face.

Thinking about her young daughter living abroad alone, Liu Manshu was rather angry and hated Huo Sining, the culprit, to the bone. However, she was aware of her own limitations and didn’t dare to confront Huo Sining head-on but was happy to cause some trouble for her.

This is why she was willing to bring Yao Xinzhu to the Gu Family.

In reality, the relationship between Yao Xinzhu and the Liu Family was distant, except for Yao Xinzhu seeking connection; without that, she probably wouldn’t even know where the Yao Family was.

For such poor relatives seeking favors, Liu Manshu couldn’t be bothered. But Yao Xinzhu claimed she was the first love of the youngest son of the Gu Family and shared many past incidents before going abroad.

After hearing Yao Xinzhu’s story, Liu Manshu immediately realized it was an opportunity. If Yao Xinzhu could take Gu Xu from Huo Sining, causing her to lose the protection of the Gu and Lu Families, then she would be left with nothing, easily dealt with.

Liu Manshu believed Huo Sining received favor from Chief Lu entirely due to the Gu Family’s influence. So, she thought if she could make Gu Xu despise Huo Sining, her plan would be mostly successful.

Thus, she began to treat Yao Xinzhu warmly after realizing this, bringing her to the Gu Family, pretending it was a visit, but actually wanting to make her presence known to the Gu Family.

Nonetheless, their luck was poor. This time they came at the wrong moment; the elder Gu couple had gone on a trip, Mr. Gu and Brother Gu were at work, only Mrs. Gu was home.

Mrs. Gu, although in her fifties, was very shrewd, and paid no heed to the words of the two before her, maintaining an extremely polite demeanor, treating them as mere formal guests.

Liu Manshu was slightly annoyed and attempted to grow closer to Mrs. Gu. Unexpectedly, Huo Sining arrived, making Liu Manshu very distressed, feeling she had not picked an auspicious day.

Yao Xinzhu, however, was smiling, looking at Huo Sining with a provocative and exploratory gaze, intimately holding Mrs. Gu’s hand, and asked with a smile, ”Aunt Gu, who is this little sister? Your relative?”

Seeing Yao Xinzhu’s pretentious demeanor, Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh, unwilling to engage in meaningless social pleasantries and directly said, ”It seems Miss Elisa has a poor memory; we met just a month ago.”

As soon as Huo Sining spoke, Yao Xinzhu’s expression became somewhat unsightly.

Mrs. Gu was slightly surprised, looked at Yao Xinzhu and then at Huo Sining, ”You know each other?”

Huo Sining nodded and then shook her head, ”I’ve heard Gu Xu mention her once; we also briefly met at Sheng Tang Headquarters. Perhaps Miss Yao is too occupied to remember insignificant people like me; it’s normal to forget upon sight.”

Yao Xinzhu’s expression turned dark. She glanced at Mrs. Gu and then at Huo Sining. Suddenly, she feigned exaggerated surprise, covered her mouth, and said with a smile at Huo Sining:

”I remember now, I did meet you at Gu Xu’s office when I was there. Sorry, young sister, I was in a hurry to find Gu Xu and didn’t pay much attention to you.”

Huo Sining didn’t mind; upon entering and seeing Yao Xinzhu sitting in the living room, she knew this woman came with ill intentions.

However, while Huo Sining didn’t care, Mrs. Gu did.

She frowned when hearing Yao Xinzhu call her son Gu Xu so intimately. She didn’t like to meddle in the young men’s affairs but wouldn’t allow outsiders to bully her family.

Mrs. Gu, experienced, immediately sensed Yao Xinzhu’s off tone. She initially thought of this young girl as Gu Xu’s old friend seeking connection due to Gu Family’s influence, but upon hearing Yao Xinzhu’s heavily targeted words, she realized the situation might be complicated.

The Gu Family was most protective, especially Mrs. Gu, who was extremely pleased with Huo Sining as her daughter-in-law. With someone coming to provoke, as the future mother-in-law, she naturally had to support her.

”Miss Yao stayed abroad for a few years; it’s understandable not to know her. This girl is my son Gu Xu’s wife, the treasure of our family now.”

Mrs. Gu praised her daughter-in-law with great pride, ignoring the darkened faces of Yao Xinzhu and Liu Manshu, expressing how perfect she was in treasure appraisal, fish and flower rearing, magic, and massage, making Huo Sining slightly embarrassed.

After ten minutes of praising her son’s good taste in finding a perfect wife, Huo Sining was blushing, while Yao Xinzhu and Liu Manshu’s faces turned black, yet forced to maintain strained smiles.

After a while, feeling bored after overwhelming them, Mrs. Gu abruptly changed the subject, curiously looking at Yao Xinzhu, ”Miss Yao, what work are you doing now? Where are you employed?”
