Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 884: Chapter 880: Such Descendants

Li Quan and his team were well-prepared, as they had brought along the contract prepped earlier by the store. Madam Yan, thorough in her work, put on her reading glasses and read through the contract carefully. Only after she had signed her name and stamped her personal seal did she hand it over. It’s clear she’s an educated person; her delicate cursive script was elegant and meticulous, the strokes painstakingly precise.

After signing the contract, Huo Sining was prepared to take Madam Yan to the bank for the transfer. The elderly lady had only a passbook, and given her age, she didn’t understand telephone banking. For safety and convenience, Huo Sining deemed it best to accompany her to the bank.

Just as Li Quan was ready to put the contract and the two boxes into his luggage bag, footsteps sounded in the courtyard, followed by a loud shout: ”Grandma, are you home?”

At the sound, Madam Yan’s body stiffened instantly, her expression somewhat awkward. She glanced at Li Quan and his team, then at the two boxes, speaking rather naturally:

”Pack these things up first; we’ll talk about the money later. I know where your store is. When I have time, I will come to your store to handle the transfer procedure.”

With that said, Madam Yan quickly stuffed the Azure Pearl and the blue book into the brocade box, signaling Li Quan to pack the items into the luggage bag promptly.

Li Quan and his team understood the situation. Seeing Madam Yan’s actions, they knew she didn’t want her grandson to know about the sale of her items, fearing any extra complications. Hence, they immediately stuffed the two boxes into the bag and zipped it up.

Just as the things were packed, the person outside came in. It was none other than the young man who had sneakily come to Jubao Pavilion yesterday to sell the Tortoiseshell Three-Piece Set.

”Grandma, you have guests?”

The young man saw the people sitting on the sofa in the living room upon stepping in. He had to swallow back his words, intending to greet them. Fixedly he stared, recognizing these people, his face changing instantly, ”Why are you here? Grandma, why are they here?”

This question was asked with righteous indignation, even tinged with anger and urgency, showing no sign of guilt or shame for selling his elder’s heirlooms.

Huo Sining felt a surge of contempt, utterly despising this freeloading young master of the Yan family.

Madam Yan was also greatly displeased, responding coolly: ”This is my home. Whoever I invite to my house seems not to be your decision to make. What, do I need your permission on who can come to my house?”

The young man’s expression stiffened, a trace of anger flashing in his eyes, but he quickly concealed it. He glanced at Madam Yan, then at the four people sitting in the living room, finally his gaze falling fixedly on the luggage bag by Li Quan’s feet.

”Grandma, how did you get to know people from Jubao Pavilion? Did you ask them over to sell something?”

The young man’s eyes gleamed with joy, his gaze darting around, and he smiled ingratiatingly at Madam Yan, probing with his words.

Upon hearing this, Madam Yan’s anger surged: ”You have the nerve to ask! Who told you to sell your grandfather’s favorite folding fan without permission? If I hadn’t heard you mention it and found the store’s owner to redeem it, who knows whose hands your grandfather’s item would have ended up in.”

The young man was not at all concerned by Madam Yan’s anger, straightforwardly saying: ”It’s just some tortoiseshell craft, not even an antique, not worth much money. Why bother redeeming it? Well, you chose to redeem it yourself; I certainly won’t reimburse you.”

Saying this, the young man looked around left and right, his gaze finally fixing on the luggage bag by Li Quan’s side, asking reluctantly: ”Sold all of grandpa’s stuff? Any more left?”

Madam Yan had anticipated her grandson’s intentions in coming here, but hearing it spoken aloud still left her feeling disappointed and heartbroken. She instinctively closed her eyes, pressing her hands onto the sofa’s armrests, her body trembling uncontrollably:

”Your grandfather passed away only a few days ago, and you few ingrates have already emptied his belongings. Aren’t you afraid his heart will be chill, unable to find peace even on the path to the Yellow Springs?!”

The young man scoffed at Madam Yan’s words: ”Grandma, you studied abroad; how come you’re still so spiritual? Once a person dies, it’s like a lamp extinguished, no Yellow Springs or hell, no reincarnation. The body is cremated, no ghosts or souls. You’re just upset from losing your spouse. When you get through this, you’ll get used to it.”

Lady Yan was furious and angry at her grandson’s shameless words, unable to catch her breath, her face reddened in high blood pressure. Huo Sining hurriedly stepped forward, patting her back, secretly infusing her with a trace of Spiritual Energy.

The energy wandered through her meridians and heart-lungs, Madam Yan felt her chest ease significantly. Her face gradually recovered; she opened her eyes gratefully and smiled at Huo Sining, though the sorrow in her eyes remained as intense as ever.

Li Quan and his team sensed something unusual in the older woman, their stressed faces revealed their anxiety, fearing any mishap. Yet, the grandson acted as if he hadn’t seen anything, his gaze flickering indifferently: ”Grandma, if you feel unwell, go to the hospital. I’ll check grandpa’s study for any other items.”

Saying so, he turned upstairs, ignoring Madam Yan’s health, displaying complete indifference.

Seeing this, not only Madam Yan but also the outsiders couldn’t bear watching. Fury surged in Huo Sining’s heart; she prepared to stand up and berate the man. But before she could, Madam Yan held her back.

”Let him be, let him go. If I block him, he might really believe I’m hiding something valuable. Let him search thoroughly; only then will he give up.”

Madam Yan’s voice was hoarse, her demeanor exhausted, with a bitter smile, eyes dimmed without a gleam of light, clearly resigned.

Huo Sining felt a surge of bitterness in her heart. With such cold-hearted descendants, Madam Yan’s future days surely won’t be easy.

She wanted to offer some comforting words but found herself at a loss, not knowing how to begin.
