Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 397: Chapter 393 Yin and Yang Hands

”This is impossible, that girl was just picking shards at random when I was next to her; she clearly didn’t use any porcelain identification techniques at all.”

Ji Kun couldn’t believe this fact and subconsciously ran towards the counter.

The ten porcelain shards that Huo Sining had selected were still placed on the table, and Ji Kun, without saying another word, picked up the shards and began to piece them together.

As the shards were from the same piece of porcelain, their edges matched perfectly, and soon a Plum Vase appeared in Ji Kun’s hands. Although it was full of cracks, the shards could indeed be put together completely, not one too many nor one too few.

Seeing this, Ji Kun and the shop owner lost their ability to speak, looking at each other with mutual speechlessness.

The shop owner was still okay, but Ji Kun’s heart was hit by a massive wave of shock.

Huo Sining had chosen the shards while he was standing next to her, witnessing the entire process of her selection.

Miss Huo picked the shards in a very casual manner, not even bothering to carefully look at the porcelain’s glaze or color. If anyone had told him before that porcelain could be appraised like this, he definitely would have jumped up to argue.

But now he had no choice but to believe. If Huo Sining didn’t understand porcelain appraisal, then who could explain how she managed to casually select ten authentic shards in less than ten minutes? This definitely couldn’t be explained by mere luck.

Ji Kun took a deep breath and looked at Huo Sining, seriously asking, ”Miss Huo, may I ask you an impertinent question? Have you studied porcelain identification before?”

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”Professor Ji, this is my first time dealing with porcelain. I study bioengineering; where would I find the time to engage in porcelain identification?”

”You’re not a student of cultural relics?” Surprise flashed in Ji Kun’s eyes as he realized for the first time that this young lady, Huo Sining, was actually a science and engineering student, which was completely unexpected.

Huo Sining shook her head, ”I’m a student of bioengineering at S University, just started my freshman year.”

Ji Kun suddenly stood there agape, ”Then how did you select these shards?”

Putting on an act of ignorance, Huo Sining said, ”Just selected them like this, ah. These shards felt historically significant the moment I touched them, different from those replica shards, so I just picked them out. Is that difficult?”

Ji Kun choked up, he lifted his head to carefully stare into Huo Sining’s eyes for a moment. Although she was smiling, her words were very casual, as if she really had just done something extremely simple.

Ji Kun felt that Huo Sining wasn’t lying, but he became even more frustrated.

Ji Kun has always been proud, ever since he entered the antique circle, he has had an unbroken series of successes in identifying antiques for more than twenty years.

Although he was eager for quick success and had received many criticisms from his teachers, and even though many of his views were contrary to his teacher’s philosophy, his teachers had to admit that he had a talent for appraisal.

But in front of Huo Sining, his talent simply paled in comparison.

When Ji Kun was young, he heard a folk tale about a person in the last years of the Qing Dynasty who had a pair of Yin and Yang Hands and was extremely adept at appraising antiques. Anything that had been buried in a tomb could be appraised by a touch.

It was said that this person could also determine the age of antiques by the intensity of the Yin energy, and he was almost always close to the mark.

When Ji Kun was young, he believed the story, but after venturing into the world of antique appraisal, he scoffed at that story, considering it nothing more than a trick to fool laypeople, perhaps even a fabricate tale.

But Ji Kun had never expected that, after spending over twenty years in this circle, he would actually come across such a person.

Ji Kun was shocked and also felt indignant that Huo Sining would choose to study something as unrelated as biotechnology. In a sea of millions, it’s rare to find someone naturally adept at antique appraisal. Huo Sining’s decision to not enter the field, despite her high talent, was nothing short of a waste of heaven-sent gifts.

”No, I can’t just let this go. I must take you to see my teacher!”

Ji Kun looked as if he bore a deep grudge, as though Huo Sining owed him millions. Out of the blue, he made an inexplicable statement and started to pull Huo Sining towards the exit.

”Professor Ji?” Huo Sining was stunned, not understanding what Ji Kun intended to do.

”That big surprise I mentioned earlier was just a bluff. I didn’t expect you to choose all of them correctly. I was merely humoring you. But now, I can tell you that the big surprise is to take you to meet my teacher, and there’s even a chance that you could become his final disciple!”

Ji Kun considered this a great honor, but Huo Sining’s expression stiffened upon hearing his words.

Becoming a disciple, the final disciple at that—what nonsense was this? She had thought she might be rewarded with a set of replica porcelain or something, but instead, there was nothing, and now they were suggesting she become someone else’s disciple?

It was truly incomprehensible.

Huo Sining glanced at Ji Kun, puzzled, and instinctively freed her arm from his clamp-like grip.

”Professor Ji, there’s no need for me to meet your teacher. Since you specialize in antique appraisal, your master must also be a well-known figure in the circle. However, I have no interest in antique appraisal, so let’s forget about meeting your teacher.”

Meanwhile, Gu Xu was also getting displeased. Pulling his wife’s arm right in front of him—as if he was invisible?

”Since you’re a professor, you should know becoming a disciple must be mutually agreeable, right? My wife doesn’t wish to, so are you planning to force her?

Gu Xu’s gaze was sharp as he looked at Ji Kun, adopting a protective stance and shielding Huo Sining behind him, as if Ji Kun was someone with dishonorable intentions.

Ji Kun’s expression froze; he thought to himself that something was wrong. What was considered a great honor and a sought-after opportunity for many seemed to have turned into him pressuring someone into acceptance.

With a twitch at the corner of his mouth from his reluctance, he looked up at Huo Sining and pressed, ”Are you really not going? My master is Elder Zhou Shitao!”

Zhou Shitao—who was that?

Forgive Huo Sining for being ignorant; since she wasn’t from the antiques circle, she genuinely did not know him.

”No, thank you, Professor Ji. I currently have no plans to take up learning antique appraisal.”

Huo Sining declined without hesitation, causing Ji Kun to gasp. He looked at Huo Sining, forlorn and helpless, and said deeply, ”You might regret this!”

Regret? Why would she regret it? She didn’t make a living by appraising antiques and besides, with Azure Pearl by her side, even without taking a mentor, if she wanted to get into it, there wasn’t anything in the antiques circle she couldn’t handle, right?

Huo Sining shrugged nonchalantly and walked out of Yucailou ahead with Gu Xu.
