Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 366: Chapter 362 Imperial Capital Huang Family

In the Imperial Capital, housing was tight in the earlier years, with five or six families squeezed into a single courtyard house, each person having only a few square meters to themselves. Afterwards, when the Asian Games Village was built, many of Old Beijing’s residents aspired to live in apartments, and so the government undertook busy efforts to demolish and relocate, turning many courtyard houses into apartment buildings.

Once the demolitions started, they couldn’t be stopped, and the number of courtyard houses dwindled, becoming rarer and thus more valuable. In recent years, the courtyard house has caught the attention of the Ministry of Culture, and some have been preserved as cultural heritage, with their prices skyrocketing, especially those in special locations which have become nearly impossible to buy.

The Huang Family lived in a courtyard house in the Xicheng District.

This residence was a grand three-entrance house that encompassed several hundred square meters. Along with its geographical location, even the wealthy might not be able to afford it.

Moreover, Huo Sining was well aware that in a few more years, such houses would become even rarer and more valuable, beyond the reach of ordinary people in the Imperial Capital.

The car stopped, and just as she opened the door to get out, the thick, heavy gate opened, and a middle-aged woman in her forties or fifties came out. Seeing the people getting out of the car, her eyes lit up with joy and she shouted into the house, ”Mom, Master Huang is back!”

With that, the woman came forward to greet them and helped Master Huang into the house.

At this time, an old granny hurried out of the house. Her eyes brightened instantly upon seeing Huo Sining, and she said with a smile as she took Huo Sining’s hand, ”You must be Ruining’s girl, Huo Sining, right? Come in, come in.”

Su Qingqing said jealously on the side, ”Granny, why do you only notice Huo Sining? Since you got a new grandniece, have you forgotten about your old granddaughter?”

As she spoke, Su Qingqing pouted and pretended to sulk, amusing Madam Huang, who reached out and tapped Su Qingqing’s forehead, laughing and scolding, ”Even if I forget everyone, I couldn’t forget you, my little troublemaker—look at you!”

After a bit of laughter and teasing, the group entered the courtyard, and as soon as they walked in, they saw the central skylight and the grapevine trellis.

There was a flower bed on the left side of the courtyard, containing several pots of cold plum and winter chrysanthemum, which, despite it being winter, were blooming brightly—clearly well-tended by someone.

There was also a large maple tree on the right side of the courtyard. Its canopy spread widely, but now, deep in winter, the leaves had almost totally fallen, leaving the bare branches occasionally adorned with a few dried maple seeds swinging.

Hanging from the high branches of the maple tree were two bird cages, housing two little sparrows and a myna. They had been asleep but were now awakened by the noise, hopping energetically inside the cages and chirping enthusiastically, as if eagerly welcoming guests.

Upon entering the gate, Huo Sining began surveying the rooms all around. Inside the first entrance of the courtyard to the east and west were two wing rooms each, and in the center were the main hall for entertaining guests and the kitchen. Passing through the corridor, one could see two more courtyards, one on each side with about seven or eight rooms in them.

Fired brick paved the paths that topped the ground and connected all the room doors, and flower beds were interspersed along the pathways.

There were steps leading to the two inner courtyards, and in the middle of the left courtyard was a low wall dividing it, with an arched door in the center. The wooden door, finished in black lacquer, was ajar. It featured brass door handles and old couplets were pasted on both sides.

”The archway to the right leads to your second great-uncle’s house.” Noticing Huo Sining looking toward that courtyard, Old Granny promptly explained with a smile.

As she was speaking, the half-closed courtyard door was pushed open from the inside, and several people emerged from the inner courtyard, laughing. At their head was Huang Chengxin, whom she hadn’t seen for several months.

”Is Big Brother back? Wasn’t he supposed to come next week? How come nobody notified us? I would have gone to pick him up from the airport!”

Huang Chengxin walked in while complaining. He had only found out that Huang Chengyi was returning to the Imperial Capital that evening at dinner. He wanted to go pick him up at the airport, but they told him that Huang Jiapeng had already gone there, so he could only give up the idea.

Right after he finished speaking, Huang Chengxin happened to insist on walking by himself without his daughter-in-law’s support. Relying on a walking stick, he took steps one by one and walked in.

The two brothers gazed at each other from afar in the courtyard. One leaned on a cane with a smug smile, while the other shook with emotion, trying to smile but unable to stop the tears of excitement in his eyes.

”Stop crying, you’re too old for that. Don’t make a fool of yourself in front of the younger ones!”

Seeing Huang Chengxin about to cry, Huang Chengyi scolded him gently, but his own eyes were also red and swollen, clearly struggling to hold back his emotions.

Madam Huang was also in tears, overwhelmed with joy.

All these years, while enduring her husband’s irascible temper, she had continually consoled him to remain optimistic and not give up on himself. Truth be told, Madam Huang had suffered and endured no less hardship and grievances than Huang Chengyi.

Now seeing her husband actually able to stand up again, how could she not be moved?

Apart from the few who were exceptionally emotional, the others naturally were also joyous and astonished, likely none of them had expected Master Huang to actually recover.

Huang Chengyi insisted on using his walking stick to get inside the house. Once inside, and after he took off his heavy cotton pants, everyone truly felt what a miracle was.

They all knew the state Huang Chengyi had been in when he went to S City in October; muscle atrophy, complete numbness in the lower half of his body, nerves completely paralyzed beyond the control of his brain.

Yet now, his leg muscles were intact, no different from a normal person’s legs. Although he was still not too agile when walking, he could already feel pain, warmth, and the sensation of soreness and swelling. With consistent rehabilitation, it wouldn’t be many months before he could walk without a cane just like a normal person.

Right then, Huang Chengyi’s granddaughter, Huang Hanyun, had just entered the bathroom, unaware that her grandfather had returned. As she came out, she saw the house crowded with people and paused. The next moment, she spotted Huang Chengyi’s leg.

Startled, Hanyun couldn’t believe it and went up to pinch and squeeze it, ensuring it was real new flesh. Her eyes widened with amazement.

”Oh my God, how incredible is this?

”Hanyun, how do you feel? Surprised, aren’t you?” Su Qingqing asked with a smile.

Hanyun nodded, ”It’s truly a miracle. How on earth did this happen?”

Qingqing grinned proudly and wrapped her arms around Huo Sining, ”For that, you have to ask Ningning. She’s the real hero who cured our grandfather’s leg ailment.”

Only then did Hanyun notice Huo Sining sitting beside Su Qingqing, who seemed calm on the surface but actually carried a hint of restraint.

She certainly knew who Huo Sining was, but she found it hard to believe that Huo Sining could cure her grandfather’s leg ailment. With so many doctors at a loss, could such a young girl under twenty really possess such astonishing skills?
