Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 390: Chapter 386 Liulichang

After leaving Grandma’s room, Huo Sining took advantage of the others’ inattention to stealthily slip the jewelry box into her storage ring.

After viewing the residence, Huo Sining took out a file folder. That was included in the legacy box that Master Huang had given her, with the papers inside organized and neatly stacked by category. Huang Hanyun glanced at them and explained,

”This should be paperwork from the local office. Now that you’ve inherited this residence, the property has been transferred to your name. You need to sign these documents for them to be effective.”

”This courtyard, being a cultural estimate, is not allowed to be rebuilt; it can only be repaired and maintained within certain limits. This will incur quite a few expenses, and these documents are probably the detailed lists. I think you should hire a lawyer to handle these matters.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining felt overwhelmed. She had only come to check out the house and shop and hadn’t expected so many troublesome issues to deal with.

Seeing the look of dread on Huo Sining’s face, Huang Hanyun couldn’t help but smile,

”Why worry about this? You really don’t know how to make use of your treasures. Aren’t you quite familiar with the boss of the big corporation Shengtang? Ask him for help. That Gu Xu kid definitely has some lawyers he can use. Just give him a call, and I’m sure he’d send someone over to help you without a second word.”

Although Huo Sining actually didn’t want to trouble Gu Xu, she reconsidered and realized that since she had accepted Gu Xu, intending to spend her life with the guy, why should she make things so awkward and keep them so clearly separated?

Huo Sining might not have the self-awareness of having a boyfriend, but on the other hand, Gu Xu was feeling a bit down. It was as if his girlfriend hadn’t come to the Imperial Capital at all, aside from having a street stall barbecue meal last time, they hadn’t even met once.

Gu Xu thought, if the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain. So, he made a brief appearance at the company early in the morning and then quietly left, driving to Huang Family’s place to play with his fiancée.

But he also had to find her first. Driving over to the Huang Family’s in high spirits, he was informed that his fiancée had gone out.

Gu Xu was frustrated and had no choice but to call his fiancée for some comfort.

Meanwhile, Huo Sining was hesitating about whether to call Gu Xu when, to her surprise, he beat her to it and called first.

Huo Sining’s heart leapt with joy as she answered the phone. On the other side, Gu Xu’s low and magnetic voice was tinged with a hint of laziness and a touch of whininess as he asked,

”Wifey, where are you? I’ve just arrived at our doorstep, and your great-uncle said you’d gone out.”

Hearing Gu Xu’s over-familiar tone amused Huo Sining, and she couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter, ”We’re over at Chang’an Street.”

”What are you doing there on Chang’an Street?” Gu Xu wondered.

”My grandma left a house here, and I’ve come to take stock of it. By the way, do you have a lawyer at your company who’s familiar with property rights? I’ve got some issues to handle, and I can’t do it without a lawyer.”

Huo Sining had thought it would be hard to say those words, but now they came out naturally. Her ears were burning, and she felt a bit anxious, worried that Gu Xu would refuse.

Gu Xu was also momentarily stunned on the other end, then his eyes danced with joy, and the corners of his mouth turned up in excitement. His own fiancée needed his help with something she couldn’t handle; why was he so happy about it?

”That’s easy to handle. Just wait there on Chang’an Street, I’ll send someone over right away.”

Gu Xu made a call to his company’s legal consultant team, and soon after, a lawyer scurried to drive towards Chang’an Street.

Gu Xu arrived at Chang’an Street in about twenty minutes, and after figuring out Huo Sining’s location, he directly headed to Lao Huai Hutong.

”Wow, this feels like ’a day apart seems like three years have passed.’ Just look at those eager eyes. If we weren’t here, would you have gobbled up our Ningning?”

Upon seeing his wife, Gu Xu’s gaze was fixed on Huo Sining and wouldn’t budge. Huang Hanyun couldn’t help but tease him when she noticed this.

Gu Xu didn’t feel embarrassed at all, while Huo Sining’s face showed a bit of annoyance as she glared at Gu Xu, signaling him to tone it down a notch.

After the lawyer arrived at Lao Huai Hutong, Huo Sining briefed him on the situation with the old house. After inspecting the property, the lawyer immediately indicated there were no problems.

Huo Sining actually offered to pay for the lawyer’s services, but he repeatedly refused, saying it was no trouble at all, leaving Huo Sining no choice but to let it go.

The lawyer, tail between his legs and with a subservient look, followed along behind the group towards Liulichang. Joking aside, how could he dare to accept money? Didn’t he see his boss glaring at him with tiger eyes right there?

If he took money, he was sure his boss would have him pack his bags and get out the next moment. He wouldn’t dare even if he had the guts.

The group arrived at Liulichang, which as an antiques market in the Imperial Capital, originated in the Qing Dynasty. Back then, scholars from all over who came to the capital to participate in the imperial examinations mostly concentrated in the Liulichang area. As a result, there were many shops selling books and the ”Four Treasures of the Study”, forming a relatively complete commercial street.

Gradually, the area became a hub for antiques. Not only did it sell the ”Four Treasures of the Study,” but it also blended other antique and jewelry businesses.

Huo Sining owned two stores, one of which was located in Liulichang.

It was said that the store had been leased out, with the lease contract supposedly ending this May. Huo Sining had been thinking of checking out the store for herself.

If the store’s location was good, Huo Sining had no intention of renewing the lease. She planned to open her own antiques shop in the second half of the year and have Li Quan fully in charge of the storefront.

As for the store’s inventory, Huo Sining naturally didn’t need to worry; lakes, seas, mountains, and rivers were vast, serving as her channels for merchandise.

Along the Liulichang street, there were nearly a hundred shops. Renowned both domestically and internationally, Rongbaozhai, China Bookstore, and many other cultural relic shops such as Wenkuitang, Suiyazhai, and Baoguzhai had also set up store here. The group followed the address and soon found Huo Sining’s store.

This was a store named Guanfutang, mainly selling imitation ancient cultural relics. Huo Sining took a look around inside the store and was quite satisfied with the shop’s size and location.

For the store handover, she naturally assigned it to Gu Xu’s lawyer. The store owner’s face stiffened upon learning of Huo Sining’s intentions.

The owner had rented this store for over ten years, initially at a very cheap rate from Liang Ruining. Over the years, with property prices soaring in the Imperial Capital, the rental price for shops in Liulichang had skyrocketed, too. But since Liang Ruining had passed away, the store’s rent hadn’t increased for many years, so naturally, the owner had been enjoying a great deal.

Now that Huo Sining wanted to take back the store, it was an unexpected turn of events for the owner. He had enjoyed the advantage for so many years, so if he wanted to renew the lease, it definitely wouldn’t be at the previous rate. Besides, by the looks of the new owner, there seemed to be no intention to renew the lease.
