Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 363: Chapter 359 Xu Lian’s Wishful Thinking

Wu Dekai from Qingshan Township was getting ready to go to the Imperial Capital, while twenty kilometers away in Baiyun Village, Huo Yong’s family was also packing their luggage.

”Pearls, jadeite, and dividends from institute shares, that bastard Huo Sining has made it big and hasn’t breathed a word to us about it. She’s really grown wings and doesn’t even acknowledge her uncle and aunt anymore. Doesn’t she remember who raised her with piss and shit? Would she have her success today without her old mom?”

Xu Lian muttered to herself while packing, unable to hide the smug expression on her face.

Huo Yong was trying to stuff some clothes into the bag when Xu Lian snatched them away:

”Why are you packing these rags? We are going to S City to celebrate the New Year, not fleeing a disaster! Your niece is so rich, can’t she buy us a few expensive clothes?”

A struggle flashed in Huo Yong’s eyes. He wanted to say they wouldn’t go, but under Xu Lian’s fierce gaze, he thought better of it and swallowed his words.

Over there, Huo Longjiang was playing with a broken slingshot. Xu Lian’s eyes lit up with pleasure, and she said to Huo Longjiang:

”Son, once we’re in S City, let that bitch Huo Sining buy you toys. Pick the most expensive ones, don’t worry about the cost. That dead girl Huo Sining isn’t short on money!”

Just then, someone entered the house—it was Xu Lian’s sister, Xu Xia. Knowing that Xu Lian’s family was heading to S City, how could she sit still? Naturally, she packed her luggage and followed, clearly intending to go to S City as well.

”Buying toys is nothing. Don’t act like country bumpkins who’ve never seen the world. Mei Ling said that girl herself is a multimillionaire, and the boyfriend she found is even richer, some big boss of a group, a billionaire!”

As Xu Xia spoke, her eyes shone with a greedy green light like that of a wolf.

”Are you guys dumb? You can’t waste such a good opportunity. Once you’re in S City, just ask her to buy you a house there. Those houses in S City are worth a fortune. If you can buy a house in S City, you’ll be real city folk from then on!”

Xu Lian may not read many books, but she understood the importance of owning property. Nowadays, the richer families in Baiyun Village didn’t bother building houses in the village; they went to the county or provincial city to buy them. Having a house in the city was a sign of wealth.

”Right, buy a big house. Then we’ll be the only ones in Baiyun Village with such a possession. S City is much more developed than Bashu. If we have a house in S City, others will be green with envy!”

As she spoke, Xu Lian’s mouth stretched into a grin she couldn’t control, her face alight with the smile that wouldn’t fade, as if she had already seen themselves settled in the bustling S City.

You’re still a bumpkin who’s never seen the world, even if you live in the city!

Inside, Xu Xia sneered. Over the years, she heard from her daughter Liu Meiling about the ongoings in Guangcheng, so she knew much more about city life than Xu Lian, considered herself half a city person already, and felt somewhat superior observing Xu Lian’s ignorance.

But no matter how much she looked down on her, she had to admit in her heart that she was dying with envy and jealousy over her sister’s stroke of good luck.

How could she not be jealous? An adopted niece who served as an unpaid laborer for Xu Lian for over a decade, not bothering them, and even bringing in a savings of a hundred thousand yuan; now, even more unbelievably, in less than half a year had soared to great heights, becoming a multimillionaire, and her partner was even more loaded with endless money.

To Xu Xia, Xu Lian had struck it rich, unbelievably landing such a windfall. Once they returned to S City, they would surely transform into tycoons.

Xu Xia was no fool; she considered herself related to Huo Sining, albeit distantly, as part of the extended family.

Since Huo Sining was so wealthy, it was only right that she should help out their impoverished relatives, and Xu Xia couldn’t miss such an opportunity.

So when she heard that Xu Lian was heading to S City, despite not being invited, Xu Xia tagged along eagerly.

Fearing that Xu Lian and her family might leave too early and she’d miss them, Xu Xia arrived at the Huo residence to wait at the gate even before seven o’clock, earlier than she would typically get up for work.

Xu Lian, of course, knew what her sister had in mind, but she had no intention of refusing.

She thought that Huo Sining was merely somewhat rich, but Xu Xia claimed that the wretched girl had found an even wealthier man. If that was the case, they should share the wealth with both the Huo and Xu families, and they would all become rich.

As the group of four boarded the bus for the provincial capital, Xu Xia began to instill the logic of a bandit into Xu Lian and the others.

”That Biological Research Institute’s shares are the real treasure. Longjiang is still so young; he’s going to need a lot of money in the future. I think you should just tell Huo Sining to give you half of those shares when the time comes.”

”Mei Ling said it’s all over the internet. If that research project hits the market, the annual dividends will be at least a few hundred thousand. That’s a real cash cow; you could make money without lifting a finger!”

”Hiss—” Xu Lian drew in a sharp breath at these words, incredulously widening her eyes, ”Half would earn us hundreds of thousands every year?”

Xu Xia nodded, ”And that’s on the low end. With proper management, it could even reach into the millions.”

A look of greed flashed in Xu Lian’s eyes, ”That wretched girl will sooner or later marry off. A married daughter is like water poured away. That future money won’t have anything to do with our Huo family then. That won’t do at all. When we get to S City, we must get her to cough up those shares, no matter what. Splitting half? Right now, she’s still one of us. Any shares she earns should belong to the Huo family!”

”Mei Ling is also on her way to S City, and she will meet us at the train station. Since Huo Sining’s boyfriend is the boss of some group in the Imperial Capital, it shouldn’t be a problem for Huo Sining to arrange a job for Mei Ling there, right?”

When Liu Meiling learned that Huo Sining’s boyfriend, Gu Xu, was the boss of Shengtang Group, she was green with envy. She couldn’t fathom how Huo Sining, a flat-chested, unattractive girl, could snag such a rich man.

In her eyes, aside from being a college graduate, Huo Sining had nothing on her. If someone like Sining could land a rich and handsome man like Gu Xu, why couldn’t she?

Liu Meiling secretly schemed; she absolutely couldn’t be outdone by that wretched Huo Sining. She had to find a better man than Huo Sining’s, or if that wasn’t possible, she would steal Huo Sining’s man.

Having spent years in Guangcheng, Liu Meiling was skilled at seducing men. Just as long as she could convince Huo Sining to secure a position for her at Shengtang, with her close proximity, she would have the advantage. With a little trickery, taking a man would be like picking low-hanging fruit.
