Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 373: Chapter 369: Xu Lian Gets Beaten

Xu Lian and the others were initially confused when they heard the middle-aged woman say there was no one by the name of Huo Sining here, but after hearing her conversation with the old granny, they immediately understood and couldn’t help but change their expressions.

”Well, you despicable wench, how dare you deceive me? Huo Sining does live here, so open the damn door for me. This is my niece’s house; what right do you have to stop us from entering?!”

Xu Lian, in a burst of rage, started violently kicking the iron door, and the words that came out were crude and unpleasant.

This made the old granny realize that something was amiss. She couldn’t help but turn her head to look at Auntie Li:

”Auntie Li, what on earth is going on? Aren’t these people the relatives Huo Sining invited over for the New Year?”

Auntie Li’s expression had darkened after Xu Lian started talking, and upon hearing Old Lady Song’s words, she let out a cold laugh:

”No, Miss Huo has long been unrelated to them and did not invite them here. I have no idea how they found this place.”

Mrs. Song’s face stiffened upon hearing this, and considering the incident at the entrance, her complexion inevitably became somewhat awkward.

No wonder these people didn’t have Huo Sining’s phone number, and were blocked from entering by the security. It turned out these people had imposed themselves, and judging by the arrogant and aggressive behavior of Huo Sining’s aunt just now, these people were likely not good news.

With this in mind, Old Lady Song felt somewhat embarrassed. She awkwardly apologized to Auntie Li:

”Auntie Li, I am really sorry. When I was at the gate, I overheard them mention Huo Sining and I asked them out of concern. They said they were Huo Sining’s relatives, coming to spend the New Year with her, so I kindly led them inside. I didn’t expect them to lie...”

Auntie Li also felt conflicted upon hearing this. She wanted to question the security guards about why they would let any random person in but realized that Mrs. Song was actually to blame.

However, seeing that Mrs. Song meant well, Auntie Li couldn’t really blame her and could only swallow the bitter pill in silence, saying, ”It’s okay, I’ll just call the security to ask them to leave.”

Every family has its own problems to deal with, and seeing Auntie Li’s expression, Old Lady Song knew there must be some kind of grievance or complication between Huo Sining and these relatives.

At this moment, Old Lady Song felt it wasn’t her place to ask further, so she nodded and went back to her house. However, her mood wasn’t great, as her good intentions had inadvertently caused trouble for Huo Sining.

Seeing Auntie Li about to go inside, Xu Lian became even angrier, with her curses growing increasingly vulgar:

”What ’Auntie Li’? I think you’re just a maid, and even a little maid dares to boss people around. Do you know who I am? If it weren’t for me, that wretched girl Huo Sining would’ve been begging or whoring around somewhere long ago!”

Although Xu Lian was speaking in dialect, her meaning was still understandable, and her voice was loud, quickly attracting the attention of residents from four or five neighboring villas, who all came out to ask about the situation.

Auntie Li’s face instantly turned livid with anger. She was usually kind and had never argued with anyone. Facing Xu Lian, who was this kind of brazen and overbearing country woman, how could Auntie Li be a match for her?

The surrounding neighbors all knew Auntie Li and many had tasted Huo Sining’s wild seafood. Seeing someone creating such a scene at the gate of Huo Sining’s house, they were immediately puzzled and couldn’t help but ask:

”Auntie Li, what’s going on? Why is this person cursing at the gate?”

Auntie Li could only go from person to person explaining helplessly, ”Suddenly, a few people came saying they were Miss Huo’s uncles and aunts and wanted to come in, claiming they were here for the New Year’s celebration. But Miss Huo is an orphan—where would she get an uncle and aunt from?”

Auntie Li pretended to be innocent and puzzled, when in fact she knew what was going on.

When Huo Sining was being cyberbullied, and Zhang Jun had even recorded Xu Lian’s phone conversation, Huo Sining guessed that her information might have been leaked to Xu Lian by people like Zhang Jun. Given Xu Lian’s character, it was certain she would come to S City.

So Huo Sining gave Auntie Li advance warning, recounted the grudges between her, Huo Yong, and Xu Lian, and then reminded her that if anyone claiming to be a relative showed up at the door, not to let them in and to wait for her return before dealing with the matter.

Huo Sining’s forewarning proved useful, as Auntie Li recognized Xu Lian as the woman who had mistreated Huo Sining as soon as she saw her, immediately gave her a cold reception, and was not prepared to welcome her inside.

But what Auntie Li did not expect was that these people would be so unreasonable as to start hurling insults directly.

As a city dweller, Auntie Li was not accustomed to the hysterics of rural women. Xu Lian, being new to the area, was somewhat intimidated by city people, which was why she cursed in a relatively civilized manner. Had this been in Baiyun Village, the language could have been far more offensive.

”Is Huo Sining not here? You might not be able to handle this—get Huo Sining to come out. If these people really are impostors, just have security throw them out.”

Hearing Xu Lian’s verbal abuse, a neighbor couldn’t stand it anymore and couldn’t help but speak up with advice.

”Miss Huo has gone to the Imperial Capital with Master Huang to celebrate the New Year. Master Huang is a relative from her father’s side who wanted her to return to the family temple for ancestral worship, so he fetched her.”

Speaking, Auntie Li shot Xu Lian and the others a slanted look and sneered:

”Besides, there’s no need for Miss Huo to deal with this personally. As the saying goes, ’only relatives enter a family’s door.’ Miss Huo is kind and reasonable, and Master Huang is humble and courteous. How could such low-class people possibly be Miss Huo’s relatives?”

”You bitch, who are you calling low-class?!” Xu Lian immediately flew into a rage upon hearing Auntie Li’s words and charged toward the iron gate, flailing wildly.

Auntie Li had been standing less than twenty centimeters from the door while speaking with Xu Lian and her group, and when Xu Lian charged over, she didn’t react in time and was seized by Xu Lian.

Xu Lian was bulky, with considerable strength, and once she had grabbed hold of Auntie Li, she instinctively raised her hand to slap her several times.

Auntie Li was terrified, her face turned deathly pale, and she closed her eyes in fear.

Unexpectedly, at that moment, the sound of a gust of wind blew by, and instead of the expected sound of a slap, a crisp smack was heard.

Xu Lian cried out in pain, her hand that was grabbing Auntie Li’s arm instinctively let go, and she covered her right cheek instead.

Although the incident happened fast, Liu Meiling and Xu Xia, who were closest to Xu Lian, saw everything clearly. Xu Lian had been hit by someone!

Looking up, they saw a man with an expressionless face standing beside Auntie Li—an onlooker to the scene. The one who had just struck Xu Lian was none other than him!

”You break into my house uninvited, disturbing the peace and mouthing off. This is a small lesson for you!”
