Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 384: Chapter 380: Professor Nie’s Ambition

Although Traditional Chinese medicine, with its thousands of years of history, is known as the national art of Huaxia, it has been declining with each passing generation, and increasingly, people in Huaxia are finding it unfamiliar.

Traditional Chinese medicine has healed and nourished generations of Huaxia people. During the SARS epidemic, it was thanks to Chinese medicine that there were no deaths in its midst.

Chinese medicine is a national treasure, but while it has fallen on hard times, Western medicine prevails, and there are even Western media outlets that have labeled Chinese medicine as ”witchcraft.”

What’s most important is that even our own people no longer believe in Chinese medicine, thinking that Western medicine is more effective. This is the tragedy of Chinese medicine and of our times.

However, Huo Sining’s Qigong Massage Technique gave Doctor Nie hope, but compared to Doctor Nie’s ambitious heart, the Lu Family was evidently more concerned with the final results.

”How is it?”

Seeing Doctor Nie tapping on her son’s legs with a wooden mallet, pinching and probing without saying a word, Song Chunxue couldn’t keep her patience any longer and asked anxiously.

Doctor Nie awoke from his beautiful dream of making Chinese medicine more prominent, returning to reality, and thinking about how those senior professors from their expert panel had been shown up by a young girl, he suddenly felt somewhat embarrassed.

Not only Doctor Nie had an awkward expression, but the other senior experts also turned red in the face.

Song Chunxue didn’t understand what a knee-jerk reflex meant, but the senior experts were very clear that if there was a knee-jerk reflex, it meant that the reflex arc below Lu Ruiqi’s spine had returned to normal, and the damaged neurons had been repaired, indicating that the subsequent treatment was hopeful.

They didn’t know what Huo Sining had done for Lu Ruiqi over the past three days, but they were certain that there was no knee-jerk reflex in Lu Ruiqi’s lower limbs when he was moved from Yulong Mountain three days before.

Chinese medicine masters are often proud of their own special techniques, and they are extremely stringent when selecting successors because they believe they are the best in the field of Chinese medicine.

Yet now, suddenly an uncredentialed outsider came to challenge their authority and succeeded, causing a loss of face for many Chinese medicine masters; it would be strange if these senior experts were in a good mood.

However, the traditional principle of Chinese medicine is to save people with benevolence and to treat others with a heart of great virtue. The senior expert professors could have incurable diseases, but they couldn’t afford to lose face or their reputation.

Doctor Nie’s face turned scarlet, he had already been embarrassed by misjudging someone based on her appearance, and now with the truth before him, he naturally couldn’t lie.

”Chief Lu, Madam Lu, it was I who was prejudiced and arrogant before. Miss Huo is indeed a national medical expert with a miraculous healing hand. In just three days, she has greatly improved the damaged neurons in Young Master Lu’s legs. I believe that with Miss Huo’s inherited secret techniques, Young Master Ling will soon recover and stand up again,” said Doctor Nie.

Although Doctor Nie had an embarrassed look on his face, the words he spoke were very candid, and he didn’t try to give Huo Sining a hard time because of their previous unpleasantness.

Huo Sining had previously felt somewhat resistant towards these senior experts who were set in their ways, but now upon hearing Doctor Nie’s words, a hint of a feeling called shame surged in her heart.

Regardless, these senior doctors were indeed acting with a responsible attitude towards their patients. Putting oneself in Doctor Nie’s place, if she heard a teenage girl claiming to be able to cure polio, she probably would have found it preposterous and laughable, and the fact that they hadn’t sent her away was already very gracious.

Thinking of this, the smile on Huo Sining’s face became much more sincere, and she turned to Doctor Nie to apologize:

”Professor Nie, I was too direct in my words earlier. I apologize to you here and hope you won’t take it to heart.”

When Professor Nie heard Huo Sining apologizing to him, his trampled self-esteem finally found redemption. His mood swiftly brightened, and the previously unsightly expression on his face softened. He looked at Huo Sining with a smile and replied with feigned arrogance, ”Am I such a petty person?”

If you’re not petty, then who were you putting on that long face for before, looking as if you had lost your ancestors?

Of course, Huo Sining wouldn’t voice these thoughts. She found them amusing to herself but still said flatteringly, ”Professor Nie, you don’t stoop to the level of students. Your magnanimity and broad-mindedness are admirable, as are your medical skills and ethics.”

Professor Nie harrumphed, barely accepting the flattery from Huo Sining. After thinking for a while, he suddenly spoke in a serious tone:

”Young lady, let’s not deal in these superficialities. You were able to bring about such an improvement in Lu Ruiqi’s leg within three days; that’s definitely not by chance. It’s quite rare for someone of such a young age to have this talent.”

”But don’t let it go to your head. If you want to go further on the path of traditional Chinese medicine, being too proud is not the way. You must be humble, dilligent, and committed to your studies, so as not to waste your talent and secret techniques!”

Uh...

Hearing this, Huo Sining was somewhat bewildered. She really wanted to tell Professor Nie that she hadn’t thought of pursuing any grand future in traditional Chinese medicine since it was all just a hobby for her; moreover, her ”Qigong Massage Technique” was definitely not traditional Chinese medicine.

But how could she explain that? Doctor Nie had taken her words for the truth, believing that she was indeed using physical massage and Qigong techniques to treat Lu Ruiqi.

Huo Sining found it difficult to explain, so she decided to let the misunderstanding continue without correcting it. However, what she didn’t realize was that Doctor Nie already had other plans in mind.

As a towering figure in the world of traditional Chinese medicine, Doctor Nie naturally had his own ambitions, which were to promote the essence of traditional Chinese medicine. He hadn’t found a successor for his medical skills because he had yet to meet someone with both integrity and talent.

Now that he had seen such a promising young talent in Huo Sining, the idea of taking her as an apprentice had naturally crossed his mind. He wanted to pass on his medical expertise to Huo Sining and even considered the possibility of exchanging knowledge in acupressure techniques with her.

If Huo Sining knew Professor Nie’s thoughts, she would be caught between laughter and tears.

After all, what she was using was a ”cheating device,” with no relationship to traditional Chinese medicine whatsoever.

The Lu Family didn’t care whether Huo Sining used a ”cheating device” or traditional Chinese massage; in their eyes, a cat that can catch mice, black or white, is a good cat.

Upon hearing Doctor Nie affirm that Huo Sining’s massage technique had helped with Lu Ruiqi’s condition, Song Chunxue’s face immediately showed a look of shock. She covered her mouth, her shoulders trembling as she cried uncontrollably.

Lu Zhenghang and Chief Lu, being strong men and soldiers of the country, naturally couldn’t show too much emotion in front of others. However, from their eyes, which were faintly red and swollen, it was evident that they too were extremely moved.
