Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 394: Chapter 390 Yucailou

Liang Junqi couldn’t remember no matter how hard she thought and could only give up.

But the other two women were staring in the direction of the two people they had just seen, their eyes shining with stars.

”What’s up? You two getting lovey-dovey again?” Liang Junqi asked irritably.

The two women looked at Liang Junqi with surprise: ”No way, Jun Qi, didn’t you recognize who that person just was?”

”Who? Are you talking about the woman with the Tibetan Mastiff?”

The two women shook their heads: ”We’re talking about the guy next to her, that man is Shengtang’s young master, A Yin’s dream guy, Gu Xu!”

Liang Junqi was stunned, she had been so focused on the Tibetan Mastiff that she had failed to notice the man standing next to it.

”However, the woman you mentioned with the Tibetan Mastiff is also somewhat famous. She’s the ’Miss Magic’ who’s been all the fuss on Weibo lately.”

”I didn’t recognize her at first either, but when I saw Gu the dream guy, and then the Tibetan Mastiff, I remembered that woman must be Gu the dream guy’s girlfriend, that S University’s School of Biological Sciences student who’s been causing an uproar on Weibo.”

Huo Sining had a Tibetan Mastiff as one of her magic props during the welcome party performance, but because she was made up that night, and now was without makeup, she was hard to recognize standing in the crowd.

But with Gu Xu and Heitan as two living labels, it was hard for Huo Sining to hide her identity, and sure enough, she was recognized.

Liang Junqi, however, hadn’t expected Huo Sining to be the ’Miss Magic’ that the internet was abuzz about. Thinking of how this woman was linked to ambergris, jadeite, and also had shares in the Biological Research Institute, she truly was someone who wasn’t short of money, no wonder she snapped back when Liang offered ten thousand yuan.

Thinking of the woman saying that she’d sell her a strand of dog hair for ten thousand yuan, Liang Junqi felt a wave of annoyance and her face turned a shade of green then red.

Liang Junqi was not one to suffer losses. Huo Sining had embarrassed her and she had no intention of letting it go, she would find an opportunity to get even!

Huo Sining was unaware that a mere sharp tongue had caught the attention of someone vengeful. As she and Gu Xu moved forward, they didn’t expect to run into familiar faces after walking not much farther.

Not far away, there was a store opening, a crowd of people surrounded the entrance to see what was happening, and inevitably, Su Qingqing pulled Huo Sining into the crowd.

”Miss Huo? What are you doing here?” Just after squeezing in, Huo Sining hadn’t been there long when she heard someone call her name. She looked up to see Ji Kun standing in the ribbon-cutting area, looking at Huo Sining and Su Qingqing laughing merrily.

”Professor Ji, long time no see. I’m here in the Imperial Capital for the New Year, what about you?”

Inwardly, Huo Sining thought that the Imperial Capital was no small place, so how come she had run into someone she knew so quickly?

”The store is owned by a friend of mine, and since I was free today, I came to support the grand opening and join in the fun,” Ji Kun replied with a smile.

Hearing this, Huo Sining looked up at the store’s nameplate and saw several colorful lotus flowers carved out of white-glazed ceramic, with the elegant cursive characters for Yucailou inscribed above them, which indeed looked exceptionally exquisite and unique.

”Yucailou, this name is really interesting – related to colors, isn’t it? Your friend’s store, does it specialize in selling porcelain by any chance?”

Huo Sining hadn’t entered the store yet, but seeing that the nameplate was made of porcelain carving, and it was imperial colored, she quickly guessed the connection.

Ji Kun couldn’t help but laugh and give a thumbs-up: ”You really guessed right. What he sells in this store is indeed porcelain.”

Ji Kun was actually quite impressed with Huo Sining. Last time in Wei District, when a woman like Huo Sining was about to fall into the hands of Wei District people, she remained calm and clear-headed, seizing the opportunity to rescue herself and escape. Such a calm and rational temperament is, indeed, very rare.

Huo Sining being able to guess that porcelain was sold based solely on a nameplate proved that she had a good understanding of the subject, which immediately made Ji Kun consider her a talent to be cherished.

Professor Ji’s teacher wanted to take on a closed-door disciple but had not been able to find a good candidate. As the old man was getting on in years, he placed even greater importance on his final disciple, preferring quality over quantity, so despite much searching, he hadn’t found a suitable one.

If there was a chance, Ji Kun thought it might be worth introducing Huo Sining to his teacher to try out, but he was not sure about Huo Sining’s natural talent in this area.

Thinking this, Ji Kun’s gaze fell on a basin of porcelain shards in the store, and with a flash in his eyes, he had an idea.

”Why don’t you come inside and take a look? There are many exquisite pieces of porcelain in the store, all crafted by masters.”

Ji Kun smiled as he invited Huo Sining and the others to enter the store.

Huo Sining thought that since they were here and had been invited, it wouldn’t be polite to refuse, so she nodded and walked into the store.

Unlike the exterior, the interior of the store was extremely upscale and spacious, clearly showing that the owner had invested heavily.

Especially notable were the ten towering curio shelves inside, each about ten meters long and over two meters high, with dozens or even hundreds of pieces of porcelain on each shelf, ranging from the earliest plain ware to Song Dynasty blue-and-white glaze to Qing Dynasty cloisonné, offering an abundance of varieties.

With nearly a thousand pieces of porcelain and not a single duplicate among them, the dazzling array of blue-and-white, underglaze red, famille rose, doucai... it was a swirl of colors and patterns that made it impossible to discern one from the other.

Su Qingqing’s eyes widened in amazement as she asked an incredibly naïve question, ”These porcelain pieces couldn’t all be genuine, could they?”

Ji Kun was at a loss for words and could only laugh: ”Miss Su, that’s quite an outsider’s question. If all these porcelain pieces were genuine, my friend wouldn’t need to run a shop on this street; he could simply open a private porcelain museum.”

Su Qingqing also realized the silliness of her question and instinctively stuck out her tongue. Fortunately, Ji Kun didn’t know she was Xie Daoyuan’s disciple, or she would have embarrassed her master again.

”However, they’re not all replicas. Although most are antique imitations, there are indeed a few genuine pieces among them. But buying one of those few genuine porcelain pieces will test the buyer’s judgement, and whether they get it right or wrong, that’s up to their own skill.”

Only then did Huo Sining notice the extraordinary pricing on these curio shelves. Each piece of porcelain was priced between fifty and a hundred thousand.

At the entrance of Yucailou, there was a sign with a bold red inscription that stood out, informing buyers that among the nearly thousand pieces of porcelain, only five were genuine.

These genuine pieces were mixed in and priced the same as the ordinary replica porcelain; buyers were to purchase based on the prices listed on the curio shelves, with no haggling allowed.

If someone with keen eyesight managed to pick out a genuine piece, even at a price of a hundred thousand, that was a steal, and the buyer would have gotten a great deal. However, if they failed in their selection, they would have to chalk it up as a learning fee, which, of course, wouldn’t come cheap.
