Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 385: Chapter 381 Inventory of the Estate

Since it had been confirmed that Huo Sining’s treatment was indeed effective, the next natural step was to arrange for the formal treatment of Lu Ruiqi.

Although the Lu Family held high positions and wielded significant power, they did not use their influence to oppress others. On the contrary, once they knew that there was still hope for their son, including Song Chunxue, the attitude of the Lu Family members toward Huo Sining underwent a significant shift. The way they looked at Huo Sining was filled with gratitude and affection; their warmth was almost overwhelming.

The condition of Lu Ruiqi was not too severe, and with full effort, he could completely recover in a week’s time.

However, Huo Sining dared not make the treatment time too short, for fear of shocking the world and raising suspicions. So, after much deliberation, she set the treatment period for four months.

The first two months would be mainly the treatment phase, followed by a two-month period of recovery and rehabilitation. The treatment phase was shorter than the three months for Mr. Huang, but the subsequent recovery time was not short either. This time frame should be the most acceptable for the Lu Family.

Indeed, once Huo Sining mentioned that it would take four months, the Lu Family members all visibly relaxed, probably feeling that four months was not too long, as long as the recovery was successful.

As Huo Sining had come to the Imperial Capital only for a holiday and New Year’s celebration, she had no plans to stay too long. After the holiday, she would return to S City, by which time university would also be starting soon.

The Lu Family was aware of Huo Sining’s situation and respected her wishes. They agreed to have Lu Ruiqi go with her to S City for treatment when she started school.

Of course, this decision sounds simple, but in reality, it was made after a whole night of discussion and debate among the Lu Family, and it was Chief Lu who ultimately gave his approval.

Song Chunxue was not happy about her son leaving the Imperial Capital and was quite dissatisfied with the decision. However, Chief Lu silenced her with a single statement that left her with no room for rebuttal.

”When you couldn’t cure his illness at Yulong Mountain, didn’t you consider taking the child to America, so far away? If you were prepared to seek treatment abroad, why can’t the child stay in S City for a few months?”

Song Chunxue dared not disobey Chief Lu’s decision, but she was not very confident about Huo Sining’s living environment in S City, so after some thought, she made a phone call to Song Hui.

”Auntie, what’s the matter?” Song Hui was still groggy when he received the call. In the cold winter, it was the perfect time for sleeping in. He wasn’t like Gu Xu, who stayed up late like a monk; naturally, he would sleep profoundly in the morning.

Song Chunxue knew what her nephew was like and said irritably, ”Find me a better apartment in S City within the next few days, then have someone clean it up. Your cousin will be staying there for some time after New Year’s.”

”What?” Song Hui was stunned and didn’t quite understand, ”Cousin? You mean Rui Qi? Isn’t he recovering on Yulong Mountain? Going to S City— you’re not joking, right?”

Song Chunxue was frustrated: ”Who’s joking with you? Just do as I told you. You know Huo Sining, don’t you? She visited your cousin and treated him these past few days, and it was very effective. So we decided that Rui Qi will go back to S City with her after the New Year.”

Song Hui burst into laughter upon hearing this: ”No way, it’s that miraculous? Haha, see, I’ve recommended her to you all before and you didn’t believe me. After all this time, aren’t you still ending up seeking her help! Fine, leave it to me. I’ll make sure it’s done perfectly!”

Song Chunxue did not doubt this point; her nephew was indeed reliable when it came to getting things done. The only issues were his penchant for joking around and his fickleness. He was almost thirty, and still not settled down, without a single proper girlfriend to speak of.

Song Chunxue couldn’t help but think of the Gu family’s youngest son, who grew up with Song Hui, and was of a similar age.

”I heard that little guy from the Gu family is dating Huo Sining’s girl? Is that true?”

Song Chunxue still found it hard to believe. Even though Huo Sining was brilliant in medicine, her background was somewhat humble for the Gu family’s boy, wasn’t it a bit too much of a stretch?

”How come you’re interested in this, too? The news should be true, but I’m still clueless here, I don’t even know when those two started.”

Speaking of this, Song Hui felt a bit annoyed. He had been following Gu Xu around every day and hadn’t noticed anything off. If it weren’t for that fishing trip out at sea last time, he wouldn’t have realized that Gu Xu had been smitten by spring’s tantalizing dance, thinking the guy was ready to remain a lifelong bachelor or become a monk.

What irked Song Hui the most was that ever since Gu Xu started dating, he acted like a complete lovesick fool, showing off in the office every damn day, flaunting his romance from the moment he clocked in to the moment he clocked out. Song Hui and Ouyang Jun had been quite sarcastic about it until Gu Xu shut them up with one sentence.

”You’re just jealous. Wait until you find girlfriends too, then you’ll understand—that’s what love is!”

When Gu Xu said that, his face was brimming with the joys of spring, which made Song Hui and Ouyang Jun itch with a mix of rage and envy, both of them itching to beat Gu Xu up.

Ouyang Jun silently returned to the club, while Song Hui sought comfort with a lady at the bar. However, after a brief encounter in the tender land, waking up the next morning left him feeling hollow inside as if he were a piece of driftwood floating aimlessly, the emptiness and loneliness weighing heavily.

Song Hui sighed inwardly. Should he perhaps settle down with a woman, too?

Huo Sining had no idea that her relationship with Gu Xu was affecting the moods of bachelors like Song Hui and Ouyang Jun. Compared to Gu Xu’s goofy antics, her emotions were much more stable, and although she felt both the sweetness and the fear of loss in their relationship, she had other things to do and no time to overthink.

After returning from the Lu family, the first thing Huo Sining did was to deal with the inheritance left to her by her grandmother and father.

During the National Day holidays, when the Huang brothers visited Huo Sining in S City, they had personally delivered the inheritance left by Huo Sining’s grandmother and father.

A modest-looking wooden box contained not only her father’s pension and savings books but also property deeds.

The property deeds were for an old house on Chang’an Street, and two hundred-year-old shops in Liulichang and Wangfujing.

In her past life, Huo Sining had heard of these places; one could tell at a glance they were prime locations, where owning property meant possessing goldmines—places so valuable that even the wealthy could not buy them easily.

Although Huo Sining was not materialistic, no one would complain about having too much money. Since these items were left to her by her grandmother, it was her duty to make sure they weren’t wasted. The first thing for her to do in Beijing was to check on those properties.
