Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 378: Chapter 374: Interception

”Song Chunxue!”

As Song Chunxue became increasingly agitated, spouting words without any filter, Lu Zhenghang by her side could no longer bear it and yanked his wife before rebuking her in a cold voice, ”Shut your mouth! Dad is patient and indulges you, but have you forgotten the most basic manners of respect for your elders?! Dad had good intentions, and for you to say that—”

Song Chunxue cut off Lu Zhenghang’s words abruptly, ”Am I saying anything wrong? How old is this little girl? What does she know about medicine? I think the both of you, father and son, must have had your brains pinched by a door, otherwise how could you seek treatment from such a person in desperation?”

”As for you!” Song Chunxue’s gaze fell upon Huo Sining as she glared at her fiercely, sneering disdainfully, ”I don’t know who gave you the gall to treat my son, but I warn you, neither the Lu Family nor the Zhou Family are to be trifled with, if you’re thinking of pulling any tricks before us, you’d better weigh your options carefully and see if you can bear the consequences!”

Seeing the crossfire shift towards her, Huo Sining wasn’t annoyed but maintained her composed expression.

She glanced upward at the displeased face of Song Chunxue and then at Lu Zhenghang, who stood behind her with the embarrassed complexion of a swollen liver, feeling somewhat helpless.

She knew that Song Chunxue’s hostility wasn’t personal but due to her young age. In the field of medicine, much like in the appraisal of antiques, age often signifies experience. Most people would choose to trust an older physician over someone who appeared to be a greenhorn intern like her.

Yet Huo Sining refrained from retorting against Song Chunxue’s words, for she was here to heal, not to engage in a war of words. If the other party wasn’t willing, she wasn’t insistent.

Though it’s said that a doctor harbors the benevolence of a parent, she wasn’t actually a doctor, nor had she taken the Hippocratic Oath. Her practice of treating people was more of a deviation from her true occupation.

While Huo Sining showed no reaction, on the other side, Chief Lu’s face grew darker upon hearing his daughter-in-law’s tactless words. He turned to Song Chunxue with a frigid look and asserted, ”You are Rui Qi’s mother, and I’m Rui Qi’s grandfather. We both want him to recover. Your words implying that I would rather see him dead are utterly heartless!”

”Are you aware of Huang Chengyi from the Huang Family, who’s been wheelchair-bound? Just half a year ago, he sought treatment from Miss Huo. The legs that had been paralyzed for decades are almost completely healed now. He can even walk with the aid of crutches.”

”If you believe that my actions are nonsensical and regard her as a fraud, that’s fine. I will take her back right now. If you want to take your own son to Europe or America, I won’t interfere!”

Chief Lu, wearing a grim expression, began to head out, pulling Huo Sining along. Song Chunxue, not knowing who Huang Chengyi was, didn’t react much to Chief Lu’s words, but Lu Zhenghang trembled and hastily took a few steps to intercept the two.

”Dad, are you telling the truth? Are Huang Chengyi’s legs really healed by her?”

Chief Lu, clearly irritated, responded, ”I just came from fetching this girl from the Huang Family. I’ve seen with my own eyes that Huang Chengyi’s legs are mending well; the muscles have even started to regrow. Do you think I would lie?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Zhenghang’s eyes fell on Huo Sining and he scrutinized her once again, asking, ”Are you the student studying in S City who’s also skilled at raising fish?”

Huo Sining was taken aback, as Lu Zhenghang’s words suggested he might know her.

Huo Sining nodded.

Seeing this, Lu Zhenghang’s look changed instantly as he excitedly exclaimed, ”Then there’s no mistake, you must be that female student Song Hui mentioned. He told me about you, saying you have unique methods for treating leg conditions and asked me if I wanted to be introduced to you to give it a try.”

At that time, Lu Zhenghang was also contemplating whether to send his child abroad for treatment, as he had lost the tiny shred of trust he had left in domestic doctors after grinding away at it over the years.

So when he suddenly heard Song Hui mention a doctor knowledgeable in treating leg ailments, he felt it was very likely just another false hope, and on learning that this doctor was actually still a student, he immediately concluded it must be a scam and flatly rejected the idea without a second thought.

Unexpectedly, he hadn’t gone to seek out this doctor, but his father ended up bringing the person to him.

”Song Hui?”

Huo Sining paused upon hearing Lu Zhenghang mention this name and laughed,

”That must be him then, he’s been over to where I live with Ouyang Jun. Master Huang happened to be at my home receiving treatment then, and they saw Master Huang’s leg recovery for themselves.”

”You know Song Hui?”

On the other side, Song Chunxue, upon realizing Huo Sining knew her nephew, couldn’t help but be taken aback, and her gaze towards Huo Sining shifted from hostility and anger to one of scrutiny and inquiry.

Huo Sining nodded, ”I do. I’ve had dinner with Brother Song and others, and also joined them in going out to sea for fun.”

Chief Lu, hearing this, couldn’t help but laugh,

”Now that you mention it, I almost forgot, this girl certainly knows that Song kid. Isn’t that boy practically raised with the Gu Family’s youngster? She is the girlfriend of the Gu’s youngest son; of course, they’d know each other!”

Huo Sining felt somewhat embarrassed hearing Chief Lu speak like this, as if her relationship with Gu Xu was known to the entire world.

Master Lu, you are after all a chief, is it really okay for you to publicize my romance like this?

Song Chunxue, not having expected Huo Sining to be Gu Xu’s girlfriend, was taken aback upon hearing this and asked in surprise,

”Didn’t Gu Xu just recently leave the military? How did he find a partner so quickly?”

She had been thinking of introducing her classmate’s sister to Gu Xu during the New Year, never expecting someone to beat her to the punch!

This thought flashed through Song Chunxue’s mind, but she didn’t dwell on it too much. Her focus at the moment wasn’t playing matchmaker, but rather whether her son’s leg could be healed.

Given that Huo Sining had cured Master Huang’s decades-old leg ailment, and she came recommended by her nephew Song Hui whom she greatly trusted, Song Chunxue placed six or seven parts of her confidence in her, losing the cold look on her face and showing some surprise and expectation when she looked at Huo Sining.

However, she had previously spoken very unkindly to Huo Sining, and now to lower herself to apologize, she found she couldn’t swallow her pride.

Seeing his wife’s attitude soften, Lu Zhenghang also appeared somewhat embarrassed and glanced at Huo Sining before sheepishly saying,

”Huo girl, your aunt was just anxious about the child, so she may have said some unpleasant things earlier. Don’t take it to heart, alright? Your uncle apologizes on her behalf. We entrust Rui Qi to you; please do us the favor of looking after him and seeing if you might be able to treat him.”
