Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 376: Chapter 372 Chief Lu’s Request

The one who came to call was Huang Ranping’s mother, Aunt Xiao Feng.

Seeing the urgency and seriousness on her face, even tinged with a bit of gravity, all four girls in the room sensed that something was amiss.

Huo Sining and Su Qingqing exchanged bewildered glances, Huang Hanyun hesitated before asking, ”Auntie, do we have guests at home? Who is it?”

Xiao Feng raised her head to look at Huang Hanyun and stretched out her hand to make a gesture for the number six.

Six? What does that mean?

Huang Hanyun was startled as her mind raced.

Six, Lu, the Lu Family!

Her eyes widened in astonishment as she stared at Xiao Feng. The Lu Family, isn’t that...

Seeing the expression on Huang Hanyun’s face, Xiao Feng nodded slightly in confirmation, ”Ningning, come with me.”

Huo Sining was completely confused. She thought she had just arrived at the Huang Family less than a day ago and didn’t know anyone, so who could be the guest wanting to see her? It was bizarre.

But despite her confusion, Huo Sining still followed Xiao Feng out of the inner courtyard and into the main hall where guests were received.

Before they even entered, they were stopped by two guards standing outside the door.

Huo Sining was startled; she hadn’t seen these fellows when she arrived at the Huang Family’s place yesterday. Why were there suddenly guards now?

One of the guards seemed to want to conduct a body search, but then a voice came from inside, ”Is Huo Sining here? Let her in!”

That guard gave Huo Sining a sharp glance and stopped what he was doing, stepping aside to let them pass through the door.

Huo Sining’s heart grew tense, realizing that someone of great importance must be inside. She felt nervous as she carefully stepped into the room, and as soon as she entered the living room, she saw several people sitting on the couch.

The person at the forefront turned his head, and upon seeing his face, Huo Sining’s steps halted, her breath caught, her mind went blank, and she was completely flummoxed.

Please forgive her, for she was a bumpkin who hadn’t seen much of the world, and this official she had only seen on CCTV news was now sitting right in front of her, making her feel as though her limbs were no longer her own.

Chief Lu seemed to notice Huo Sining’s nervousness and smiled warmly, ”Come in, have a seat!”

Huo Sining slowly sat down on the couch opposite, almost moving her arms and legs in unison.

”Pfft--”

The old granny sitting beside Chief Lu tried to hold back but couldn’t help bursting into laughter.

Following the sound, Huo Sining saw Madam Gu sitting on the other side, her shoulders shaking with barely contained amusement.

Huo Sining snapped back to her senses, surprised and slightly embarrassed as she looked at Madam Gu, ”Aunt Gu, what are you doing here?”

Aunt Gu had a good laugh before she spoke seriously, ”I heard that your granduncle returned from S City, and since I was bored, I decided to come see how his leg is doing, and also to visit you.”

Huo Sining blushed as someone on the side, who had been ignored, suddenly became displeased, ”I say you mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can catch up later, can I say something first?”

Huo Sining quickly sat up straight and looked towards Chief Lu, who had spoken.

Seeing Huo Sining perched so upright, Master Huang couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Huo girl, don’t be nervous. Chief Lu isn’t summoning you to reprimand you; he’s here to ask for your help! If he’s asking a favor of you, naturally you are the creditor, so you have no reason to be afraid of him!”

Chief Lu, upon hearing this, glanced at Master Huang with annoyance, ”You all are stealing my lines; what am I supposed to say now?”

Madam Gu and Master Huang quickly waved their hands, urging Chief Lu to speak, who puffed his beard and glared, but as soon as he turned his head, his face softened dramatically, and he looked at Huo Sining with such a kind gaze.

”Your granduncle’s leg ailment—I heard it was you who treated it with Qigong Massage?”

Huo Sining nodded, ”It’s not completely healed yet; it’s only about 70% better. The rest will depend on the Old Master himself to gradually rehabilitate and exercise to recover. Even if it’s fully healed, he will only be able to walk like a normal person. Rigorous exercise is definitely out of the question.”

”That’s enough!” exclaimed Chief Lu, slapping the armrest of the sofa, his face full of excitement and anticipation as he looked at Huo Sining, ”Your granduncle’s leg ailment has been dragging on for over a decade, and you managed to treat such a stubborn problem. Can you treat polio?”

Huo Sining was stunned for a moment and looked at Chief Lu confusedly. She wasn’t as nervous now, only somewhat unclear about Chief Lu’s intentions.

”I have a grandson who was negligent as a child and got infected with the poliovirus, which entered his central nervous system, resulting in complete paralysis of his lower body...”

At this point, Chief Lu’s voice actually became somewhat choked up.

Chief Lu was in his sixties and known as a resolute and calm man, but when faced with his grandson suffering from illness, he felt deeply empathetic and yet also utterly powerless.

Chief Lu didn’t say much, but Huo Sining understood.

Huo Sining was well aware that although Master Huang had made significant achievements in his life, he certainly hadn’t reached a status that would warrant Chief Lu to personally visit out of respect.

The reason the old Chief had taken time out of his busy schedule to visit the Huang Family was surely because he heard from Mrs. Gu about her helping Huang Chengyi with his leg ailment. He was somewhat skeptical yet hopeful, and had to see it with his own eyes.

After seeing Master Huang’s leg, he fully believed Mrs. Gu’s words, and so he had Xiao Feng call over Huo Sining.

His aim was clear; he hoped that Huo Sining could help treat his grandson who suffered from polio-induced paralysis in his lower limbs.

Huo Sining was not averse to Chief Lu’s request. As the first in command, he didn’t impose his authority, and even his inquiries were very cautious, showing full respect for Huo Sining. This made her feel comfortable, and she found it impossible to refuse the elder’s request.

The only issue was that Huo Sining had never encountered polio before and didn’t know if the Spiritual Energy from Azure Pearl would be effective; therefore, she couldn’t speak too confidently. Instead, she responded:

”Chief Lu, Qigong Massage can’t cure every illness. I haven’t treated polio before, so I will need to see the specific condition first before I can make any decisions.”

Not receiving a direct refusal meant there was still hope. Chief Lu’s tense face relaxed considerably upon hearing Huo Sining’s response, and he nodded in agreement, saying:

”That’s not a problem. If you had said you could cure it right away, I would have suspected that you were a quack! When do you have time? I’ll take you to see what the situation is like. If there is anything you need to prepare, just let me know, and I’ll make sure to help you with it!”

Huo Sining nodded and smiled, ”You don’t need to prepare anything. If it’s convenient for you now, we can go right away. The sooner we figure things out, the more at ease you’ll be.”
