Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 365: Chapter 361: Who is the Monitor?

After sorting things out, that very evening, Huo Sining and Master Huang boarded the flight back to the Imperial Capital. Accompanying them, aside from Li Quan and Su Qingqing, were Heitan and the little Jingba.

Heitan only obeyed Huo Sining’s commands, even though Master Huang and the maid spent day and night with him, the guy didn’t take orders from anyone else—let alone Yan Feng, a stranger to him.

Huo Sining feared that if she went to the Imperial Capital, Heitan would constantly be giving orders and it wouldn’t be good if his temper flared up and he bit someone. So, to prevent such a situation, she decided to take the rascal with her.

Master Huang was the happiest about bringing Heitan along.

The elder liked dogs with personality and temper, and the Tibetan Mastiff was to his taste. Moreover, the scene of Lei Shi entering the house not long ago made the elder realize that the pup might very well be a dog king, something that naturally excited him immensely.

A dog king is something one can only hope to come across by chance, and even the Imperial Capital might not have such a dog. Master Huang had long since planned that once he got home, he would definitely have his son take Heitan to the military district’s K9 center for an examination to see if he really was a dog king or not.

The flight from S City to the Imperial Capital took three hours. When Huo Sining and her group disembarked from the plane and passed through the gate, they saw a man in a long trench coat standing straight at the gate, waiting for them.

”How come you’re here?”

Huo Sining was somewhat surprised since she had changed her plans abruptly. Deciding to come to the Imperial Capital had been a rushed decision, and she hadn’t informed Gu Xu in advance. Seeing Gu Xu at the arrival gate made her face show complete surprise.

Gu Xu coughed slightly, looking somewhat guilty, ”I was here at the airport handling some business, and happened to meet Major Huang. Learning about your evening flight, I just took the opportunity to pick you up.”

Huo Sining followed Gu Xu’s lead and glanced behind him, indeed seeing Huang Jiapeng not far away, craning his neck anxiously in anticipation.

Come to the airport for business? Yeah right, as if I’d believe that. What kind of business could you possibly have at the airport on a winter night?

Huo Sining looked at Gu Xu with skepticism, and suddenly as if she realized something, she narrowed her eyes and asked, ”You haven’t planted a tracking device on me, have you?”

Far away in S City, Wu Jun suddenly felt a chill down his spine, inexplicably sneezed.

He wondered to himself, since he always insisted on keeping in shape with a robust physique, he surely shouldn’t just catch a cold all of a sudden...so why the sneeze out of nowhere?

”Uh... ”

On hearing Huo Sining’s words, Gu Xu’s eyelid twitched, and he touched his nose, instinctively denying, ”How could that be? I really was here for business. The company just secured a cooperation project, and I happened to be seeing off two clients when I bumped into your uncle, who told me about your return to the capital tonight, so I stayed here to wait.”

Huo Sining was half-convinced, seeing that Huang Jiapeng and his father were excitedly talking about something on the side, with Huang Jiapeng bending down and massaging his father’s feet. Her expression became somewhat joyous and relaxed. Glancing at Gu Xu, she smiled and asked, ”Have you been waiting here the whole time?”

Gu Xu nodded with a smile, making up an excuse, ”I wasn’t sure how many people were coming, afraid that your uncle’s car wouldn’t be big enough, so I waited here for all of you.”

Huo Sining could certainly read between the lines; this man clearly wanted to see her but didn’t want to admit it, so he came up with such a poor excuse.

Huo Sining inwardly sneered at the thought, but in that moment, her heart suddenly warmed.

She began to smile unconsciously, and feeling a bit embarrassed, she pursed her lips. Looking at Gu Xu, she asked, ”Sending off your clients was an afternoon affair, wasn’t it? Having waited for so long, haven’t you had dinner yet?”

Who cares about eating at this time? Hearing that his daughter-in-law was coming to the Imperial Capital, Gu Xu was thrilled and rushed to the airport as soon as he got the call from Wu Jun.

It was only upon arrival at the airport that he realized his daughter-in-law’s flight from S City wasn’t due to take off until seven, and he had arrived at the airport just after six—apparently a bit too early.

Gu Xu nodded and smiled, ”No problem, I can drop you off and then grab something to eat.”

Huo Sining smiled as she looked down, then suddenly lifted her head and whispered, ”After we drop off the luggage at the Huang family’s place, how about I join you for a meal?”

Gu Xu’s eyes lit up instantly, ”Great!”

On the other side, the men of the Huang family had finally finished expressing their excitement. Seeing that their father’s leg had indeed regrown muscle and, although not fully healed, Huang Jiapeng was certain it was only a matter of time.

Even during his half-year stay in the Imperial Capital, he heard good news coming from S City every day, but without seeing the recovery of his father’s leg with his own eyes, Huang Jiapeng just couldn’t be at ease.

Now, seeing his father standing robustly in front of him, able to walk without a wheelchair, how could he not be shocked and overjoyed?

A tough man nearing fifty couldn’t help but be moved to tears at this moment.

They had hoped for so many years; not to mention his father, even he had given up on the thought of treatment.

But nobody expected that this illness, which had been declared incurable by numerous Chinese and Western doctors, would show such significant improvement in just half a year.

And the person who cured it turned out to be their distant niece they had never met before—Ruining’s own flesh and blood!

”You must be Ruining’s girl, Huo Sining, right?”

Huang Jiapeng approached Huo Sining and looked her up and down, his gaze filled with gratitude and admiration:

”Noble and spirited, with an overwhelming Spiritual Energy. I have a discerning eye for people, and you, girl, at first glance are of good nature—kind-hearted and skilled in medicine while maintaining your original intentions. Truly worthy of being Ruining’s kin! You have your father’s manner!”

Huo Sining replied with a modest smile, ”Uncle, you flatter me too much. I actually don’t understand medicine. Curing great uncle was completely accidental. I hadn’t anticipated it at all initially.”

Huang Jiapeng, however, spoke earnestly, ”Whether it was due to your own ability or a fortunate accident, you indeed cured the old master’s leg ailment—that is an indisputable fact, and no one can take this credit away from you!”

Although Huang Jiapeng was dressed in an ordinary coat, his unyielding righteousness could not be concealed, making it obvious he was military personnel. His voice was loud and clear, giving off an extremely upright impression.

With the earlier demeanor of Huang Chengyi and Huang Chengxin, along with Huang Jialin, and now Huang Jiapeng, every member of the Huang family was sincere and straightforward, which matched well with Huo Sining’s temperament. She held a very good impression of the Huang family, so she didn’t feel any resistance to Master Huang’s proposal to spend the New Year in the Imperial Capital.

Even though she could manage by herself now, who would really turn away harmonious and amicable relatives?

When Heitan, their checked-in Tibetan Mastiff, came out on the conveyor belt, Huo Sining and her group hurried toward the Huang family’s place.

However, upon stepping into the Huang residence and seeing the layout of the house, surprise couldn’t help but show in Huo Sining’s eyes.
