Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 377: Chapter 373: Worshiping Foreign Things and Fawning Over Foreigners

Chief Lu was startled by the remark but then he broke into a smile, ”Okay, then let’s go now. I’ll have a guard make a call to arrange it at home.”

Chief Lu liked Huo Sining’s straightforward and agreeable nature very much, and since she was so cooperative, he was more than happy to let the guard contact the Lu Family right away.

Soon, the guard reported back that the young master of the Lu Family had a relapse of his illness in the morning and was taken to Yulong Mountain.

”Understood, then we’ll head to Yulong Mountain!”

Chief Lu’s complexion was not good; his grandson’s lower limb neural functions had been completely damaged, and his muscles had also begun to atrophy. He felt pain all over his body whenever he was unwell. Every time the illness flared up, they went to Yulong Mountain, but those doctors and nurses could do nothing for him except administer painkillers— all of them were quacks!

Huo Sining was unaware that the majority of those living on Yulong Mountain were either national leaders or significant figures who had made outstanding contributions to the country. Consequently, to ensure the health of these individuals, the medical specialist teams stationed on Yulong Mountain were all from hereditary families of well-known doctors.

The doctors and nursing staff here were all top figures in the medical field, and many of them were experts well-versed in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and Qigong. Huo Sining’s so-called Qigong Massage Technique was considered full of flaws and a laughingstock in the eyes of these respected doctors.

Sitting in the military vehicle, Huo Sining accompanied Chief Lu to Yulong Mountain.

Upon hearing that his father had brought a doctor to treat Rui Qi, Lu Zhenghang hurried out to meet them— only to be astonished when he saw his father leading a young girl down from the vehicle.

”Dad, what is this...”

Lu Zhenghang looked at Huo Sining with an inquisitive gaze. It was no wonder he was skeptical; Huo Sining was too young. How could such a pretty young girl be a physician? It was hardly believable to anyone.

This might be a common issue among Huaxia people: when most patients go to the hospital, their first choice is always the older doctors.

Especially those old specialists with gray hair and dim eyesight, who at a glance seemed to have a wealth of experience and excellent medical skills. The moment they sat at the consultation desk, a crowd of patients would swarm to them, truly commanding respect.

On the other hand, doctors who are young and look tender, no matter how confident they appear when treating patients, the patients would maintain a skeptical attitude, feeling uneasy as if the young doctors’ skills were not yet refined.

This was the mindset Lu Zhenghang had when he saw Huo Sining, but out of family upbringing and politeness, he couldn’t voice his thoughts out loud. Since his father had brought someone over, it wouldn’t be right to send her back without even seeing the patient.

Yulong Mountain was a tranquil place for recuperation. Huo Sining followed Lu Zhenghang down a long road before finally turning into a row of detached buildings and entering a hospital room.

In the room, a woman in her forties with red-rimmed eyes was wiping her tears. Seeing someone enter, she quickly stood up and called out, ”Dad.”

Chief Lu responded with a gentle hum and asked, ”How is he doing?”

Song Chunxue turned her head to glance at her son, who was sleeping soundly, and choked up, ”He was given a sedative, and Doctor Nie administered an injection. It was only after much difficulty that he finally fell asleep. These doctors don’t really have any good methods. I think it might be better to send him abroad for treatment; the medical technology overseas is definitely more advanced than here...”

”Nonsense, both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the country have top-notch doctors. Why must we send him abroad?”

As soon as he heard these words, Chief Lu’s face darkened. He had nothing much to complain about his daughter-in-law except for one flaw: she was overly infatuated with foreign cultures.

Having studied abroad, this daughter-in-law became critical of everything upon her return to the country, constantly mentioning how some things were better abroad and how advanced their systems were.

It just so happened that Chief Lu was the leader of a nation, his being imbued with patriotic fervor; he simply could not tolerate his daughter-in-law’s foreign worship, and he would become extremely irritated whenever Song Chunxue mentioned anything about foreign advancements.

Song Chunxue usually held her tongue in front of Chief Lu’s authority, not daring to talk back or confront the elder, but today she could hardly contain herself. As soon as she saw her son lying in bed in extreme pain, her tears started to fall:

”Dad, if the domestic doctors were competent, could they cure my son, your grandson’s illness? Look at the state Rui Qi is in; he asked me today why I didn’t just strangle him, why I didn’t let him die a peaceful death. He said he doesn’t want to be looked after with such pity anymore!”

”My child is only fifteen, and he has lost all will to live! My own son is asking me why I don’t kill him right in front of his mother. What do you expect me to do as his mother? I don’t trust any of those quacks anymore; all they do is delay without finding a complete solution!”

By the end, Song Chunxue was almost madly whispering, her voice hoarse, afraid to wake up her child who had finally fallen into a deep sleep, yet unable to resist express her agony.

At that moment, Chief Lu’s eyes also turned red, but he did not blame his daughter-in-law for talking back to him. He just let out a deep sigh and quietly wiped his eyes.

Over the years Rui Qi suffered from his illness, his daughter-in-law had been by his side caring for him without leaving his side. The depths of the child’s sorrow and pain may not be clear to these men who worked outside, but Song Chunxue surely saw it all clearly.

With that thought, Chief Lu turned his head, gestured with his hand to call Huo Sining, who had been standing outside silently, inside.

”Huo girl, the child is asleep. You see...”

Chief Lu did not want to wake the child, so he meant for Huo Sining to wait before speaking. He thought Huo Sining’s examination would be like that of other doctors, requiring observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking.

Huo Sining actually smiled, ”Chief, it’s okay. Just let the child continue to sleep. I just need to feel his legs; I won’t wake him.”

Chief Lu felt relieved at her words and chuckled, ”Alright then, come with me.”

With that, Chief Lu walked over to the bed, ready to lift the blanket off Lu Ruiqi.

At this point, Song Chunxue sensed something was wrong. She looked at Huo Sining and then at Lu Zhenghang, who had come in behind her, and asked confused, ”Dad, what are you doing? Who is this young girl?”

”What ’young girl’? She is a doctor I’ve specially found for Rui Qi. This lady has a special expertise in treating paralysis of the legs. I have asked her to take a look at Rui Qi to see if she can help!”

Chief Lu became unhappy upon hearing Song Chunxue’s tone and hastily vouched for Huo Sining.

To his surprise, Song Chunxue almost burst out laughing in anger. She rushed forward and covered Lu Ruiqi with the lifted blanket, looking darkly at Huo Sining:

”Her? Dad, you’re not senile and being deceived, are you? Is this young girl even of age, and do you actually know what she does? You let her come to treat Rui Qi because you think Rui Qi isn’t in enough pain, and you’ll only be satisfied if this girl ends up treating him to death, is that it?!”
