Urban Martial Saint

When those words were spoken, the entire room was shocked. Could such statements be made so casually? Besides, who could actually lay waste to an entire police station?

But that’s just the kind of person Black Bear was. Straightforward and simple-minded. What he said, he truly meant to do. If those people really hurt Ye Qing, then without a doubt, he truly would dare, and indeed, would flatten this police station!

Zhou Jianbin trembled with anger, pointing at Black Bear and bellowing, ”You... you dare to rebel?”

”Director Zhou, you really love to slap labels on people, don’t you?” The voice of Zhao Chengshuang came from behind, as several policemen pushed him into the room.

Zhao Chengshuang had actually come with Black Bear, only thing was, his wheelchair was a bit slow. Black Bear was worried about Ye Qing and came in first, hence the scene that had just unfolded.

”What do you mean by slapping labels on people?” Zhou Jianbin, furious, said, ”Zhao Chengshuang, what is the meaning of these words?”

”Human language!” Zhao Chengshuang glared at him and said, ”Director Zhou, I really can’t understand. Mr. Ye saves my cousin, and you, instead, handcuff him. What, is saving a life now a crime?”

Zhou Jianbin said coldly, ”He is suspected of colluding with the robbers, I’m arresting him to investigate the case!”

Zhao Chengshuang sneered, ”Is it really to investigate the case, or do you feel that he stole your thunder, so you want to settle a personal score?”

”Zhao Chengshuang, what do you mean by this?” Zhou Jianbin roared vehemently, ”You’d better watch the way you speak!”

”That’s just who I am, and how I speak,” Zhao Chengshuang said impatiently, waving his hand, ”I tell you, you want to frame someone else, I don’t care. But you can’t set up Ye Zi. I’m taking him with me now, so please unshackle him.”

”Impossible!” Zhou Jianbin said icily, ”Lock him up for me!”

”Don’t you dare lock him up!” Zhao Chengshuang shouted.

The subordinates of Zhou Jianbin and those of Zhao Chengshuang suddenly faced off. These policemen had never been so tense before.

Zhou Jianbin was furious, turning to glare at Zhao Chengshuang, he said in a deep voice, ”Zhao Chengshuang, what are you trying to do? I’m fully in charge of this case, how to proceed, who to investigate, it’s all up to me. Are you trying to usurp power? I warn you, both in terms of authority and rank, I am your superior, you’d better think carefully before you speak.”

”Cut the crap, I won’t let you lock him up!” Zhao Chengshuang, shaking his wheelchair forward, said, ”Zhou Jianbin, I’m really going to clash with you today. Tell you what, if you have the guts, kill me right here; otherwise, don’t even think about touching a hair on Ye Zi’s head!”

Seeing how adamant Zhao Chengshuang’s attitude was, Zhou Jianbin felt quite embarrassed. He had not expected Zhao Chengshuang to protect Ye Qing with such commitment; it seemed he had underestimated Ye Qing’s influence.

Zhou Jianbin said coldly, ”Zhao Chengshuang, be clear about the cost of what you’re doing today!”

Zhao Chengshuang glared back and said, ”Cost? I don’t give a damn about any cost. If you’ve got the guts, strip off all this shit on my shoulders. Fucking nonsense!”

”You... you dare to curse!” Zhou Jianbin trembled with rage.

”So what if I curse you, you damn cur!” Zhao Chengshuang shouted angrily, ”I already said it when Ye Zi came over in the morning, to let Ye Zi get involved in solving the case as soon as possible. The case would likely have been solved by now. You fucking interfered at every turn, not letting Ye Zi get involved.

Then in the afternoon, when Ye Zi identified those three locations, telling you to dispatch someone quickly, you just wouldn’t. Look what happened, you delayed, and now my cousin is hurt like this. Damn your ancestors, Zhou Jianbin, even if I have to stake my uniform, this time I’m really going to go all out against you!”

Zhao Chengshuang was truly furious. The fact that Ye Qing had found Lin Yashi made him witness Ye Qing’s abilities once again. At the same time, he also began to regret that, had Ye Qing gotten involved earlier in the morning, maybe Lin Yashi wouldn’t have had to bite off her tongue.

Now, he had no good feelings towards Zhou Jianbin; if he weren’t confined to a wheelchair, he would definitely get up and hit Zhou Jianbin himself!

Zhou Jianbin looked at Zhao Chengshuang in shock. Previously, he had always considered himself to be Zhao Chengshuang’s elder and, given that his official rank was higher than Zhao Chengshuang’s, Zhao Chengshuang had always been polite to his face.

At this moment, Zhao Chengshuang seemed to have gone mad, not giving him the slightest respect and, on top of that, cursing him in front of everyone, which made it very hard for him to come down from his high seat.

Zhou Jianbin said sternly, ”Zhao Chengshuang, please mind your language. If you continue with such insulting speech, I will complain to the higher-ups, for contempt and serious insult to a superior!”

Zhao Chengshuang cursed, ”Fuck your mother, go file a complaint, do it now, and if you don’t, you are my grandson!”

”You...” Zhou Jianbin was so angry he almost fainted. He suddenly turned and walked to the desk, picked up the phone, and yelled, ”Zhao Chengshuang, do you think I really wouldn’t dare to file a complaint against you? You just wait! You just wait!”

Zhou Jianbin gritted his teeth and began to dial. However, before the call could go through, his cellphone suddenly rang.

Looking at his cellphone, it was actually a call from Deputy Director Deng Liyang of the city bureau. He definitely didn’t dare to delay this call, hurriedly grabbed his phone, and brandished it at Zhao Chengshuang, saying, ”It’s Director Deng’s call. I will file a complaint with Director Deng about you, just wait for your punishment!”

Having said that, holding the phone, Zhou Jianbin walked to the side and answered, ”Hello, Director Deng?”

”Zhou Jianbin, what kind of job are you doing?” Deng Liyang’s angry voice came through from the other end, startling Zhou Jianbin so much he almost threw his phone away.

Among the leaders of the city bureau, Deng Liyang was known for his good temper and character, never losing his cool. But now, Deng Liyang was unexpectedly this angry, and Zhou Jianbin was truly scared. A person who never lost their temper was angry; what on earth had he done wrong?

”Director Deng, what... what happened?” Zhou Jianbin asked tentatively.

”What happened? You tell me what happened!” Deng Liyang roared, ”What’s the deal with Lin Yashi’s case? How did she get so badly injured? The city bureau entrusted this case to you, and this is the report you give me? Because of this incident, the Municipal Committee is putting pressure on the city bureau. Tell me, how is this going to be handled?”

The Lin family wielded significant influence in Shenchuan City. Upon learning his sister’s tongue had been severed, Lin Zhen Nan was, of course, livid and personally spoke to several key city leaders about the incident. Naturally, they understood what Lin Zhen Nan implied and immediately passed the pressure on to the city bureau.

Unable to withstand the pressure, the city bureau leaders immediately contacted Zhou Jianbin.

”Director Deng, I...I was following standard procedure in handling the case. Besides, the case was solved within less than twelve hours of its occurrence. If an accident occurred, it... it wasn’t my fault...” Zhou Jianbin said quietly.

”It wasn’t your fault?” Deng Liyang grew even angrier, ”I heard Lin Zhen Nan asked someone named Ye Qing to help you solve the case. You repeatedly obstructed him and didn’t heed his advice, leading to this outcome. How exactly are you managing things? The Lin family is now demanding a response from the city, so tell me, how is this matter going to be dealt with?”

”Ah?” Zhou Jianbin looked extremely uncomfortable and shot Zhao Chengshuang an angry glance. He knew for sure that it must have been Zhao Chengshuang who told Lin Zhen Nan about his actions.

When Ye Qing arrived in the morning, he had already stated that he was entrusted by Lin Zhen Nan to handle the matter. However, Zhou Jianbin, wanting to take all the credit for himself, deliberately kept Ye Qing out of the loop. Now, the outcome was that Ye Qing had rescued the person first, meaning the responsibility was likely to fall on him.

Even though Ye Qing wasn’t part of the police, when Lin Zhen Nan became enraged, the higher-ups would certainly hold him accountable and give Lin Zhen Nan a response.

Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Zhou Jianbin said with a tremble, ”Director Deng, the situation... isn’t as you imagine, this Ye Qing actually has serious suspicions...”

”Are you implying that I am wrongly accusing you?” Director Deng’s voice was grave.

”No, I... that’s not what I mean...” Zhou Jianbin was even more embarrassed, stuttering, ”Director Deng, we...we suspect that this Mr. Ye is colluding with the robbers, so, in order... in order to solve the case quickly and ensure the safety of the hostage, we dared not let him get too involved. Moreover, it was... it was Old Lady Lin who personally came here to drive Ye Qing away.

The Lin family themselves suspected Ye Qing, and with Old Lady Lin personally here, I couldn’t collaborate with Ye Qing...”

Director Deng was silent for a while before speaking in a heavy voice, ”Write a comprehensive report and submit it, and remember, let the report reflect everything as it is, without any omission. Several leaders from the city bureau and main leaders of the Municipal Committee are taking this matter very seriously. If you dare to fabricate anything in the report, even I won’t be able to protect you!”

Zhou Jianbin wiped off the cold sweat and hurriedly replied, ”Yes, yes, Director Deng, don’t worry, I... I will definitely write this report carefully!”

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Jianbin felt as if his back was almost soaked with sweat. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to claim any merit this time; holding onto his position was already the greatest fortune he could hope for. Fortunately, at the last moment, he had a stroke of inspiration to shift the blame onto the Lin family and Old Lady Lin, so he wouldn’t have to bear the brunt alone.

Otherwise, there was no way he could have taken the blame by himself!

”So, did you file a complaint with Director Deng about me?” Zhao Chengshuang sarcastically asked from the side. In fact, from the tone of Zhou Jianbin’s phone call, he had pretty much understood what had happened.

Zhou Jianbin’s face was extremely unsightly as he wiped away his sweat and came over. Looking at Ye Qing, he gestured, ”Remove the handcuffs.”

”Mr. Ye, I’m really sorry.” Watching his subordinate remove the handcuffs, Zhou Jianbin immediately went over to shake Ye Qing’s hand, saying, ”Actually, I was initially willing to work with you, but it was the Lin family who didn’t trust you. As you saw, the Lin family unanimously suspected you of colluding with the robbers.

To reassure the Lin family, I had to first exclude you, but that was really not my intention!”

”Zhou Jianbin, you really are a flip-flopper!” Zhao Chengshuang looked at Zhou Jianbin with contempt, saying, ”Have you forgotten? Who was it that wanted to handcuff Ye Zi first when he arrived? Who was just bragging that if my cousin was found in those three places, he’d write his name backwards. So Zhou Jianbin, are you going to be called Jian Bin Zhou from now on?”
