Urban Martial Saint

”Save me? Where the fuck did you save me?” Scar Lee glared, angrily saying, ”I was living just fine, had food, drink, and women. Who in Shenchuan City would dare to touch me? Now that you’ve done this to me, I’ve got nothing, and I have to run for my life like a scurrying rat. Do you call this saving me?”

”How long do you think your comfortable life could have lasted?” Ye Qing looked at Scar Lee, saying, ”One year, two years, or three? There’s a saying that good and evil will eventually be repaid. Do you think there won’t be retribution for what you’ve done?”

Scar Lee said coldly, ”I don’t fucking believe in retribution, I only believe in myself!”

Ye Qing shook his head, saying, ”If I hadn’t wanted to save you, you would have been dead tonight. You believe in yourself, but could you have saved yourself?”

Scar Lee angrily retorted, ”If it wasn’t for you screwing me over, why would Eldest Brother suspect me?”

”I’m not talking about Boss Lin, I’m talking about that stash spot,” Ye Qing said coldly. ”If I had wanted to kill you then, do you think you could have gotten away?”

Scar Lee fell silent, knowing full well the capabilities of Ye Qing. With Ye Qing having taken out over twenty men by himself, adding him to the number would have just meant another corpse. If Ye Qing had wanted to kill him, he would definitely have been dead tonight.

”You’re alive because I gave you a chance,” Ye Qing said as he looked at Scar Lee. ”I suggest you’d better start driving. Once Boss Lin’s men arrive, you might as well go straight to your death!”

Scar Lee hurriedly started the car, driving in the direction Ye Qing had indicated, heading towards Xicheng District.

”What the hell are you trying to do?” Scar Lee asked in a heavy tone.

”Like I said, I’m saving you,” Ye Qing replied. ”The crimes you’ve committed merit death a hundred times over. However, I am now offering you a chance to redeem yourself. If you help me with this, once it’s over, I can guarantee your survival and that you can leave here alive without dying.”

Scar Lee furrowed his brows, saying in a deep voice, ”You want me to betray my big brother, impossible!”

”Suit yourself,” Ye Qing said with a faint smile. ”You don’t want to betray your big brother, I won’t force you. Here’s some advice, don’t go near the west suburbs, because you’ll encounter the police. You’d better leave Shenchuan City within two hours. Once Boss Lin dispatches all his men to look for you, you’ll probably not even think about living to get away. Also, change your car.

There are quite a few people in Shenchuan City who recognize your car. And one more thing, when we get to the intersection, please stop the car, as I need to go home to rest.”

Hearing Ye Qing’s words, Scar Lee nearly broke down. Ye Qing spoke lightly, but he knew all too well how difficult it was for him to survive now. Boss Lin wanted him dead, and the police wouldn’t let him off either. Wanted by both the underworld and the law, there was no way he could get out of Shenchuan City. And within Shenchuan City, how long could he really run?

As they passed the next intersection, Scar Lee didn’t stop the car and glared at Ye Qing, saying furiously, ”You’re a fucking lowlife!”

”Someone once told me that if you want to deal with a bad guy, you have to be worse than him!” Ye Qing leaned back, saying, ”I think that’s very true.”

On the night Ye Qing almost got smothered to death in the detention center, an old man had said this to him. Unfortunately, that old man didn’t understand this principle himself, so he ended up dead at the hands of Boss Lin. As for Ye Qing, he remembered that saying very well.

Just now he had the power to kill Scar Lee, but he hadn’t done it. He wanted to push Scar Lee into a corner. Scar Lee was one of Boss Lin’s closest men, and he knew Boss Lin’s affairs inside out. By driving him into a corner, Scar Lee would have to deal with Boss Lin, making it easier for Ye Qing to handle Boss Lin. After all, to know your enemy and know yourself ensures victory in every battle!

Scar Lee drove around Xicheng District a few times before saying, ”Where to now?”

Ye Qing casually pointed to a nearby alley, saying, ”Go there.”

Scar Lee looked at the alley and said, ”My car can’t fit in there.”

Ye Qing said, ”Just park here, we can go in on foot.”

”Not driving anymore?” Scar Lee was somewhat reluctant; he had just spent over a million to buy the car.

Ye Qing shot him a glance, saying, ”What’s more important, your life or your car?”

Scar Lee immediately parked the car at the roadside and followed Ye Qing into the dark alley.

The two of them wound their way through the alleyways several times before finally emerging from the other end. Ye Qing, however, did not stop there but continued leading Scar Lee into another alley. They kept zigzagging through the streets, and after more than an hour, Ye Qing finally picked out a small hotel and had Scar Lee settle in.

”You can stay in this hotel for three days, and during these three days, it’s best that you don’t go out. If you need anything to eat, I can bring it to you!” Ye Qing took Scar Lee’s mobile phone as he spoke, ”Tomorrow I’ll get you a new phone because this one can’t be used anymore. Take the rest of the night to rest, you won’t have any trouble here tonight!”

”How do you know nothing will happen here?” Scar Lee was still panicked, truly afraid of dying.

”I’m guessing,” Ye Qing paused before continuing, ”If you don’t trust me, you could find a place you think is safe to hide. I won’t stop you.”

Scar Lee dared not take a single step outside, sitting by the window and nervously watching the entrance of the hotel, ready to guard against any sudden attacks.

”Rest up, I’ll come to see you tomorrow.” Ye Qing left after these words, while Scar Lee couldn’t possibly sleep, trembling and hiding behind the window.

Ye Qing didn’t go straight home but first called Mu Qingrong to make sure they were safe before he felt somewhat relieved. He was afraid Boss Lin would target Mu Qingrong and the others, but on second thought, he realized this worry might be superfluous. Mu Qingrong was currently collaborating with Lin Zhen Nan, who highly appreciated her, and Boss Lin was certainly aware of this.

If someone targeted Mu Qingrong now, Lin Zhen Nan would not stand idly by. Although Boss Lin was deranged, he wouldn’t dare to provoke Lin Zhen Nan. So, he wouldn’t make a move against Mu Qingrong and the others.

However, concerned about the hospital, Ye Qing immediately headed there after hanging up the phone. Black Bear and Huo Pingping were still in the hospital, and he feared they might be in danger.

Once there, Ye Qing realized his worries were unnecessary. The previous assassination attempt on the two by an assassin had made Zhao Chengshuang very cautious, prompting him to assign several police officers to stand guard there.

Moreover, Black Bear had followed Ye Qing’s Breathing and Meditation technique over the past few days and had mostly recovered from his internal injuries, regaining about fifty percent of his strength. Ordinary thugs couldn’t hurt him anymore.

Ye Qing pushed the door open to find Black Bear eating a late-night snack while Huo Pingping was reading a magazine next to him. Zhao Chengshuang wasn’t there, as he was occupied with making arrangements for the disabled people and children they had rescued earlier.

The deputy director of the city bureau, Deng Liyang, had personally visited, as Shenchuan City had been plagued by various major crimes recently. Frankly speaking, Deng Liyang felt considerable pressure as the deputy director.

Tonight’s incident was particularly shocking, with over twenty people dead on the scene and not a single useful clue found, making him wonder if an international assassin had come to Shenchuan City. Yet, why would an international assassin go after these petty gangsters?

Ye Qing didn’t bother with this matter. Ever since he was nearly smothered to death in the detention center, he had stopped publicly claiming responsibility for his actions as before. Because once he went to the police station, many things were beyond his control—why should he put himself in danger for those criminals?

That’s why he particularly made sure to destroy much of the evidence tonight, and combined with the deliberate sabotage by Zhao Chengshuang and his men, no clues could indeed be found.

Zhao Chengshuang didn’t finish tidying up until the early morning. When he returned to the ward and saw Ye Qing sitting beside Black Bear’s bed, he was taken aback. He waved for the police officers behind him to leave, then wheeled himself over to Ye Qing saying anxiously, ”Little Ye, you...”

He wanted to discuss tonight’s events, but seeing Huo Pingping next to them, he changed his words, ”Come with me, I need to talk to you about something.”

Ye Qing pushed Zhao Chengshuang’s wheelchair into an empty adjacent ward, and once Zhao Chengshuang was sure the door was shut tight and no one could hear them, he lowered his voice, ”What exactly are you doing? How did you cause such a big incident? Suddenly twenty-one people are dead, and it’s alerted the provincial department. Do you realize how big this has gotten?”

Ye Qing’s expression remained calm as he responded, ”You’ve said this more than once already.”

”But I don’t want to be saying this!” Zhao Chengshuang pressed, ”You understand what it means for Shenchuan City to have such a big incident, right? The provincial level has started to pay attention to these cases, and there will definitely be a strict order to investigate fully. A thorough investigation means that we must give a report to the higher-ups. How should we handle this situation?”

Ye Qing asked, ”What exactly are you trying to say?”

Zhao Chengshuang continued, ”You… what happened tonight? Why did you kill them? Couldn’t you have just broken their arms and legs? As long as there are no fatalities, the nature wouldn’t be so serious!”

Ye Qing shook his head, ”I don’t know what you mean by ’serious nature.’ I only know what ’getting what they deserve’ means!”

”Yes, they got what they deserved. But, what right do you have to sentence them to death?” Zhao Chengshuang argued, ”It’s the police’s job to arrest people, the judge’s job to give a verdict, and the executioner’s job to carry out the sentence. None of this is your affair, so why make such a big fuss?”

”True, none of this is my business,” Ye Qing nodded, looking at Zhao Chengshuang, ”But then, what are you doing? After all they’ve done, where were the police? The judges? The executioners? They’ve killed so many people; where did those you speak of go? You have the authority, yet you do not do what you should.

I did it for you, and now I’m wrong? What kind of reasoning is that? Am I supposed to just stand by and ignore these matters?”

Zhao Chengshuang objected, ”Why didn’t you report it to the police?”

Ye Qing’s face wore a sneer as he replied, ”Report it? Zhao Chengshuang, let me ask you, do you genuinely not know about these things, or are you pretending not to know?”
