Urban Martial Saint

Li Lianshan stubbornly tagged along for a meal. After dinner, encouraged repeatedly by phone calls from Lin Zhen Nan, Lin Huayu reluctantly left. However, she clamored that she would return the next day to see Ye Qing, apparently planning to skip class.

Li Lianshan left first as the evenings were the busiest times at his place. However, he had also sent a few people to the hospital to protect Black Bear and his group.

In fact, with Zhao Chengshuang and Black Bear in the same hospital room, it was unlikely that Black Bear and his group would encounter any danger. No matter how bold someone could be, they certainly wouldn’t dare to commit murder right in front of Zhao Chengshuang, for the Zhao Family was not to be trifled with.

Thus, Zhao Chengshuang’s presence essentially guaranteed the safety of Black Bear and Huo Pingping.

The place for eating was not far from home, and Mu Qingrong chose to walk home along the roadside instead of driving.

Ye Qing walked beside her. He was always a man of few words, and they walked in silence for almost five minutes. Mu Qingrong sighed gently, turned to look at Ye Qing, and said, ”Ye Qing, there’s something I want to talk to you about.”

”Speak,” Ye Qing quietly regarded Mu Qingrong, waiting for her to continue.

Mu Qingrong carefully chose her words, ”Ye Qing, have you ever thought about, or perhaps some day changing jobs?”

Ye Qing was silent for a while, ”I haven’t thought that much, or maybe, I won’t be able to do this job much longer.”

”Why?” Mu Qingrong’s expression changed slightly as she looked at Ye Qing anxiously.

Ye Qing didn’t respond. He had come to Shenchuan City only to find his brother Ye Jun, not to make money. Once he found his brother, he would return to Beilin County to live with his family and would not come back to Shenchuan City. This job, he really couldn’t do for much longer.

”I know you have greater aspirations, and Yunchi Company can’t let you display your talent,” Mu Qingrong said with a hint of a bitter smile, head bowed and softly continued, ”It’s good in a way. A man’s ambition should take him places, always dwelling in this company is not good for you. You should have a broader world, a better stage to showcase your capabilities!”

Ye Qing sighed, ”Don’t misunderstand, I hadn’t thought about changing jobs. I’m just... not going to live in Shenchuan City for long.”

”Why?” Mu Qingrong’s expression changed even more, this news was harder for her to accept than Ye Qing job hopping.

Ye Qing softly said, ”I can’t tell you the reason yet, I will tell you later.”

Mu Qingrong looked at Ye Qing, she knew Ye Qing wasn’t lying to her. Yet, when she learned that Ye Qing would leave, she felt an indescribable heartache.

”Then... have you considered changing jobs?” Mu Qingrong looked at Ye Qing and said, ”If... if Lin Zhen Nan wants you to be a bodyguard for his daughter Lin Huayu, would... would you go? He offers a high salary.”

Ye Qing frowned slightly, pondered for a long time, and said, ”I would go!”

Mu Qingrong staggered, looking at Ye Qing with a flash of disappointment in her eyes. She had thought Ye Qing wouldn’t go; his response left her perplexed about how he could become so mercenary.

Mu Qingrong had no idea what Ye Qing was thinking; he wasn’t being mercenary, he just wanted to gradually get closer to Old Lin. The Lin family was undoubtedly the closest place to Old Lin. Being a bodyguard for Lin Huayu would allow him to learn more about Old Lin, possibly meet him face to face, and greatly increase his chances of finding his brother Ye Jun.

”In that case, I’ll contact Lin Zhen Nan for you tomorrow...” Mu Qingrong said bleakly, her heart suddenly filled with disappointment in Ye Qing.

Ye Qing didn’t know what Mu Qingrong was thinking, but he could tell from her expression that something was off. Ye Qing was silent for a while, then said, ”Are you very angry?”

”Why should I be angry? Why would I be angry!” Mu Qingrong turned her head away, pretending to be calm and not looking at Ye Qing.

”Whether you are angry or not, I still want to tell you something,” Ye Qing looked at Mu Qingrong and said, ”You are the strongest girl I have ever met. I admire you, your persistence. If it weren’t for that matter, I would be willing to continue working in the company. But I have my reasons, there are things I must do, so I had to make this choice. I hope you can understand me!”

Mu Qingrong looked at Ye Qing, his sincere expression let her know he wasn’t lying. Yet, knowing that Ye Qing was going to leave Yunchi Company still pained her heart inexplicably.

Mu Qingrong softly said, ”No matter what, I hope you succeed in doing this thing!”

”Thank you.” Ye Qing nodded, about to speak again when his cell phone suddenly rang.

Ye Qing answered the phone, and the voice of Liu Yuan came from the other side sounding dejected, ”Hey, Ye brothers, why didn’t you come over today? How is the contract going? The boss is pushing for this matter today, and I didn’t dare tell him too much. When can you bring over the contract first, I have already had finance settle this payment, bring this money back with you when you come.

I paid the project funds upfront, but we need to get that contract back, otherwise, the boss is going to freak out.”

Listening to Liu Yuan’s words, Ye Qing felt a wave of warmth in his heart. Today, almost all the companies doing business with Yunchi Company came to terminate their contracts and demand payment. It was quite rare that Liu Yuan could still hold up under such circumstances. You know, if this matter were exposed, Liu Yuan would have to lose his job.

He was taking such a big risk by doing this, which Ye Qing found very moving.

”Big Brother Liu, I’m sorry. I got delayed today by some issues. We have prepared the contract and will send it to you tomorrow,” Ye Qing said.

”What happened? Were those companies trying to screw you over?” Liu Yuan whispered, ”Man, those companies really have to push people to the limit, huh? Ye brothers, how is it on your side? Are you alright? Do you need any help?”

Ye Qing said with a smile, ”It’s fine. It wasn’t mainly that. Today we signed a contract with Lin Corporation, which delayed me a bit. That issue has been handled now, there’s no...”

”Wait a minute! Wait a minute, wait a minute!” Liu Yuan suddenly exclaimed, ”What did you just say? You signed a contract with... with what?”

”Lin Corporation!” Ye Qing said.

”Lin... Lin Corporation?” Liu Yuan gasped for breath, his voice filled with excitement, ”Lin Corporation of Shenchuan City? Lin Zhen Nan’s... that Lin Corporation?”

Ye Qing replied, ”Yes.”

Liu Yuan excitedly said, ”You... you signed a contract with Lin Zhen Nan’s Lin Corporation? What contract? What is it for?”

Ye Qing replied, ”Lin Corporation’s new project involves surveillance equipment, which they’ve tasked our company to handle.”

”Really?” Liu Yuan burst with happiness, ”My goodness, why didn’t you say so earlier? Then why do I even worry? Lin Corporation giving you the business clearly shows their support for you. Given Lin Corporation’s stance, those other companies combined don’t even compare. Damn, just wait, I’ll call the boss in a minute and see whether he fears Lin Corporation or those pathetic companies!”

Ye Qing didn’t expect Liu Yuan to react so dramatically, he scratched his head and said, ”That contract...”

”Contract, schmontract. I decide now, we don’t need to bring that contract over!” Liu Yuan laughed, ”Lin Corporation is giving you their business, young man, your company has a bright future ahead. Ye brothers, when you make it big, don’t forget to pull your brother up, maybe introduce a couple of businesses to me!”

Smiling, Ye Qing said, ”Big Brother Liu, if there’s an opportunity, I will definitely keep an eye out for you.”

”Great, with your words, I can rest easy!” Liu Yuan laughed, ”Enough talk for now, I need to call the boss. That bastard has been nagging me all day, let’s see what he has to say now. You go on and keep busy, let’s catch up sometime when you’re free!”

After hanging up, Liu Yuan’s loud voice meant that Mu Qingrong had pretty much heard everything. She smiled slightly and said, ”Liu Yuan is quite honorable.”

”A really good person,” Ye Qing replied with a light smile, the atmosphere between them significantly lightened by Liu Yuan’s call as they strolled back to the complex.

As soon as they entered, Black Bear directly pounced over and affectionately licked Ye Qing’s hand.

Fang Tingyun and Mo Xiang were at home, and the two women were still unaware of the dramatic developments of the day. Seeing Ye Qing and Mu Qingrong return, Fang Tingyun immediately asked anxiously, ”Ms. Mu, how is your company doing? I heard that lately several companies in Shenchuan City are planning to move against your company.”

”It’s all settled now,” Mu Qingrong replied with a light smile, sitting next to Fang Tingyun.

”Is it really all settled?” Fang Tingyun was somewhat skeptical, wondering how such a big issue could be resolved so easily.

Mu Qingrong once again explained the contract signing of today with Lin Corporation, and Fang Tingyun was overwhelmed with joy. With Lin Corporation’s support, those other companies were practically nothing. Most importantly, Mu Qingrong securing such a large deal meant a whole year’s development for Yunchi Company.

Moreover, Lin Corporation paid for the entire project upfront, making sure there would be no outstanding payments, paving the way for Yunchi Company’s healthy development. This business deal was definitely a turning point for the company, and a major opportunity for Mu Qingrong!

”Ms. Mu, congratulations, your hard work has finally paid off!” Fang Tingyun sincerely congratulated.

”At the end of the day, it all thanks to Ye Qing,” Mu Qingrong looked at Ye Qing, who had been at Yunchi Company for some time now. The company had gone through several major crises, and this time it had almost collapsed. But at the last moment, Yunchi Company managed to secure its biggest victory.

Without Ye Qing, the company probably wouldn’t have lasted much longer and would have been ruthlessly eliminated by the market like many other small companies.

Mo Xiang, who had been reading a book, suddenly looked up at Ye Qing and said, ”Hey, speaking of Ye Qing, where did your friend Old Wang Ba go?”

Upon hearing this, a light bulb went off in Ye Qing’s head - he hadn’t seen Old Wang Ba for several days. This old guy, who always used to show up right on time for meals, hadn’t been seen around lately. Could it be that he had changed his ways and stopped freeloading?
