Urban Martial Saint

When Zhao Chengshuang’s policemen rushed out, He Ziqiang and his subordinate had already left with Lin Yashi nearly five minutes earlier.

Hearing that Lin Yashi was kidnapped, Zhao Chengshuang was also extremely anxious. He hurriedly contacted the police department, asking them to immediately block the roads to catch the kidnappers.

Lin Huayu was so frightened by this ordeal that her body went limp. She held onto Ye Qing’s arm and dared not let go.

”Little Leaf, what exactly happened?” Zhao Chengshuang asked Ye Qing anxiously, since Lin Yashi was his maternal aunt, and he was quite worried.

Ye Qing was about to speak when he suddenly felt dizzy. His vision went dark, and he collapsed to the ground.

”Ye! Ye!” Lin Huayu, terrified and pale, hurriedly shook Ye Qing, pleading, ”What’s wrong with you? Are you okay?”

”What is happening here?” Zhao Chengshuang, also frantic, said, ”Call an ambulance, quick, call an ambulance!”

”Captain, we are already at the hospital!” a nearby policeman said.

Zhao Chengshuang was stunned, then hastily said, ”Then… then call a doctor quickly!”

An hour later, Ye Qing finally slowly regained consciousness. The doctor had injected him with an antidote for the anesthetic, but then the severe pain in his right leg followed. Using brute force to seal the acupoints was akin to making the leg swell and compressing the blood vessels to temporarily stop the blood circulation. This was vastly different from sealing acupoints with Inner Strength.

It was almost by self-mutilation that Ye Qing had bought some time, ultimately ensuring that Lin Huayu was not kidnapped. However, Lin Yashi had been abducted, which was a significant blow to the Lin family.

Lin Huayu had already been escorted home by a team of policemen arranged by Zhao Chengshuang. When Ye Qing awoke, Lin Zhen Nan was sitting by his bed. It was evident from his expression that he was upset, as the one kidnapped was his own sister.

Ye Qing sat up, looked at Lin Zhen Nan for a while, and said in a low voice, ”I’m sorry.”

”There’s no need for apologies,” Lin Zhen Nan waved his hand and said, ”Your responsibility was to protect my daughter, and you did that.”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”If I had been more vigilant, this wouldn’t have happened.”

”You were vigilant enough. Moreover, I’ve said it before, as long as my daughter wasn’t harmed, you made no mistake!” Lin Zhen Nan sighed and said, ”I heard from the doctor, you were hit with an anesthetic in your leg, and you injured the blood vessels in your leg to stop the spread of the anesthetic, thereby saving Huayu. Mr. Ye, you did well enough, I won’t blame you!”

Ye Qing remained silent. Even though Lin Zhen Nan did not blame him, he still could not forgive himself. He had underestimated these people and had acted too hastily in trying to save Lin Huayu, therefore lacking calm and composure, which led to this situation.

If he had observed the surroundings more at that time, he would not have been hit by that tranquilizer dart, nor would it have led to Lin Yashi’s kidnapping.

”Mr. Ye, this time Huayu was frightened. Moreover, this group of kidnappers is stubbornly intent on kidnapping Huayu. I’ve decided that for the time being, she won’t be leaving the house,” Lin Zhen Nan said to Ye Qing. ”This means that you can have a few days off. However, I have a favor to ask of you!”

Ye Qing said firmly, ”I will bring Miss Lin Yashi back.”

That was exactly what Lin Zhen Nan wanted Ye Qing to help him with. He looked at Ye Qing earnestly and said, ”I’ve heard Chengshuang say that you are very skilled in tracking and finding people. I’ll leave this matter to you. If you need anything, just let me know.”

Ye Qing was silent for a moment, then said, ”I need a car!”

Lin Zhen Nan provided Ye Qing with a car, and the driver was Old Wang from North Ring Thirteen. Lin Zhen Nan trusted Old Wang’s driving skills.

Ye Qing, with a slight limp, got into the car. Old Wang immediately sized him up like he was observing a strange creature and said, ”Little Ye, I heard that Lin Yashi was kidnapped right before your eyes? Dammit, this is a big mess. Many people in the Lin family are now shouting to kill you. If I were you, I would have run away by now.

Yet here you are, bold enough to have a car arranged by President Lin; you really have some nerve!”

Ye Qing remained silent, and Old Wang, accustomed to his personality, started the car and asked, ”Where to?”

”The police station?”

”Oh, planning to turn yourself in?” Old Wang turned the car around, teasing Ye Qing, ”Little Ye, it’s not me who should say this, but this job of protecting Miss Lin is no small task. The pay is not bad, but how much danger is involved? The Lin family is too rich, and too many people covet what they have. Lin Huayu is the only girl of her generation in the Lin family, their treasured child.

If anything were to happen to her, you bodyguards would all be done for.”

Getting into the spirit, Old Wang casually lit up a cigarette and continued, ”Not to mention her, even with Lin Yashi being kidnapped right in front of you, many people in the Lin family are dissatisfied with you. Thankfully, President Lin understands the situation and didn’t blame you. Otherwise, Lin family members would have already come after you.

In fact, those people still don’t trust you; they are mostly waiting for Old Lady Lin to speak up. If Old Lady Lin decides it was your negligence, even President Lin might not be able to protect you. I’m telling you, you better pack up and leave Shenchuan City quickly. We’ve been through a lot together, and I can’t bear to see you suffer for this.”

Old Wang was just this kind of person, never mincing his words. Although he was a driver for the Lin family, he didn’t have much affection for them. Apart from respecting Lin Zhen Nan, even towards Old Lady Lin, he showed no respect at all, making him somewhat of an oddity among the drivers.

Ye Qing said in a deep voice, ”She was abducted right in front of me; I must find her myself!”

”That’s why I say you are the most stubborn person. In life, just getting by is enough; why be so serious!” Old Wang curled his lips and said, ”To find someone, where will you even start looking? Shenchuan City is so big, they could hide anywhere, and it’s not going to be easy to find them. What if you can’t find her? Do you think the Lin family will let you off?”

Ye Qing did not answer; once he decided to find someone, his mind was set.

Upon arriving at the police station, it was a hive of activity too. Those knocked down by Ye Qing had all been brought to the station, now separated for interrogation. Zhao Chengshuang was personally overseeing it, gathering crucial information.

Seeing Ye Qing arrive, Zhao Chengshuang immediately wheeled over, grabbed Ye Qing’s clothes, and pulled him aside, whispering, ”What are you doing here?”

Ye Qing said gravely, ”I’ve come to help you investigate this matter.”

”Damn, to investigate this matter, you don’t need to come to the police station!” Zhao Chengshuang whispered urgently, ”Do you know how many people from the Lin family are here now? Most of them think you failed to protect my aunt, leading to her abduction, and they can’t wait to settle the score with you. Coming here now, aren’t you just walking into a trap?”

Ye Qing’s expression was indifferent as he replied, ”She was abducted in front of me, indeed I failed to protect her!”

”Don’t say that; I know you did your best.” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”But the Lin family doesn’t think so. They believe that as a bodyguard, unless you die, you shouldn’t let the person you’re protecting get kidnapped right in front of you; do you understand what I mean?”

Ye Qing nodded and asked, ”Where is the man in black that I captured last?”

”Damn, you still don’t understand?” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”What I mean is, you should leave now, don’t run into the Lin family. Once I’ve sorted things out here, I’ll immediately pass the information to you, how about that?”

”I understand what you mean, but this is my affair, my responsibility; I must take it upon myself!” Having said that, Ye Qing pushed Zhao Chengshuang into the police station lobby and asked, ”Where is that person held?”

There were quite a few people in plain clothes in the lobby, some of whom recognized Ye Qing. Seeing him there, several people immediately gathered around him.

”Ye Qing, you dare to come here!”

”Is that Ye Qing?”

”My aunt was abducted right in front of him; look, he’s standing here perfectly fine, not a scratch on him. Mr. Ye, as a bodyguard, where is your professional ethics?”

The crowd surrounded Ye Qing, and some even pointed fingers at him. The abduction of Lin Yashi enraged them; their fury was wholly vented on Ye Qing.

Zhao Chengshuang hurried over and said, ”Everyone, please calm down. Little Ye tried his best; he was also injured. It’s not that he didn’t protect my aunt, he simply couldn’t get to her in time, so don’t blame everything on him!”

”Chengshuang, I know you’re good friends with him. But, what’s more important, your aunt or your friend? Now that your aunt has been abducted, you’re still here speaking up for him?”

”Hmph, ignore him; he’s not a Lin family member, why would he care about my aunt?”

”Zhao Chengshuang, you had so many police at the hospital then; what were you doing? How dare you speak here?”

The crowd didn’t spare Zhao Chengshuang’ face, they circled around Ye Qing, aggressively confronting him. Zhao Chengshuang tried to explain on the side, but no one listened; they even grouped him with Ye Qing and began questioning him as well.

”What are you all doing?” a cold voice suddenly rang out, and the crowd turned to look, seeing a man in his thirties in a police uniform glaring at them.

”Uncle Zhou, you’re here!” A younger member of the Lin family hurried over and said, ”Aunty Yashi has been abducted; you must help us bring her back!”

”Zhou Jianbin, Deputy Director of Dongcheng Sub-bureau, a rising star in the police force with significant power. He was a classmate of my aunt and had pursued her previously; he takes great interest in matters concerning my aunt!” Zhao Chengshuang whispered in Ye Qing’s ear, ”Be careful with this man; he’s very self-confident and arrogant. He will definitely blame you for my aunt’s abduction...”

Before Zhao Chengshuang could finish, Zhou Jianbin had already walked over, pointing at Ye Qing and demanded, ”Are you that bodyguard named Ye?”

Ye Qing nodded in response, and Zhou Jianbin’s express immediately turned frosty as he signaled with a wave, sharply commanding, ”Take him away!”
