Urban Martial Saint

Everyone in the Lin family turned their gaze towards Ye Qing, each person’s expression filled with righteous indignation, as if they were itching to tear him apart alive.

”Kill him!”

”We can’t kill him. First, make him hand over the young aunt!”

”Cripple him, I don’t believe he won’t talk!”

”Right, right, right, break his legs first. If he still won’t talk, then take off his arms too!”

The crowd was restless and about to swarm Ye Qing.

Zhao Chengshuang hurriedly stretched out his arm to stop the crowd, saying, ”My cousins, brothers, and sisters, please don’t be rash. I guarantee Ye Zi isn’t a bad person, truly, he definitely isn’t a bad guy!”

”Zhao Chengshuang!” Old Lady Lin, who had been silent until now, suddenly slammed her walking stick with force and angrily said, ”Although you don’t bear the Lin surname, Yashi has always treated you well. With such a thing happening to her, not only do you not save her, but you also protect the suspect. What is the meaning of this?”

Zhao Chengshuang wore an embarrassed look and said in a rush, ”Auntie Granny, I... I... I really want to save cousin aunt too. But Ye Zi really isn’t a bad person!”

”You still defend him even now!” Old Lady Lin glared furiously, pointing at Ye Qing, and said, ”First, catch him for me. As much as my daughter has suffered, I will make him repay a hundredfold!”

The members of the Lin family immediately shouted as they charged over, and Zhou Jianbin was even more straightforward, yelling loudly, ”Someone, come, take this Ye fellow and catch him for me!”

”You all don’t do this, listen to me...” Zhao Chengshuang shouted repeatedly, but no one paid him any attention.

Seeing the crowd rushing towards him, Ye Qing suddenly turned and headed straight for the courtyard wall.

”Don’t let him get away!” Boss Lin yelled urgently.

But it was too late for him to say that now. With a running start, Ye Qing directly scaled the three-meter-high courtyard wall, sat on top of it, and yelled, ”Cheng Shuang, those two places are up to you. If you’re short on hands, you can go find Black Bear. I’m off to save her!”

After speaking, Ye Qing jumped down from the courtyard wall. The people of the Lin family tried several times at the wall’s edge but couldn’t scale it. By the time they ran out to pursue, Ye Qing was long gone.

”Evading arrest due to guilt! Evading arrest due to guilt!” Zhou Jianbin shouted repeatedly, angrily saying, ”Quick, quick, issue a warrant, summon all city police forces, we must catch that Ye fellow!”

After giving the order, Zhou Jianbin turned to Old Lady Lin and said, ”Old Lady Lin, rest assured. I’ve cast a dragnet over Shenchuan City, there’s no way that Ye will escape. Go back and rest for a bit, I will definitely give you an answer within twenty-four hours!”

Old Lady Lin’s face was as cold as frost, glaring fiercely at Zhao Chengshuang before turning around and leaving in anger.

The Lin family members looked at Zhao Chengshuang with eyes full of hatred, as if he was in collusion with Ye Qing.

Zhao Chengshuang himself was extremely frustrated; he had not anticipated things would take such a turn.

”Cheng Shuang, what did I tell you, when judging people, you can’t just look at appearances!” Zhou Jianbin said with mockery, ”Throw away the map, what, you really plan to go look in those three places?”

”I trust him!” Zhao Chengshuang said just these three words, and, shaking with anger, left in his wheelchair.

”What’s the use of trust?” Zhou Jianbin sneered, ”I’ll say it again, if the person is found in those three places, I’ll write my name backwards! You haven’t even looked at this evidence, do you really think this Ye is a good person? I’m telling you, he’s definitely involved in this case!”

”Any charge can be fabricated!” Zhao Chengshuang laughed coldly, saying, ”You know better than I who Lin Tianhao is. You should also understand the grudges between him and Ye Qing. He would certainly like to kick a man while he’s down at this opportunity. Do you really believe these are crucial pieces of evidence?”

Zhou Jianbin frowned slightly; as a key member of the Shenchuan City’s police force, he was very aware of Boss Lin’s affairs. Nevertheless, Boss Lin was still one of the Lin family, so he had always turned a blind eye. He knew about the recent events and understood they were related to Ye Qing. It was possible that Boss Lin wanted to take this opportunity to frame Ye Qing.

”Hmph, anyway, if it turns out he’s involved, I’ll make sure to kill him with my own hands!” Zhou Jianbin replied coldly.

Zhao Chengshuang ignored him and turned, wheeling away. Most of his men had been dispatched to help Zhou Jianbin with the investigation; he only had five or six people he could call upon. Searching those two places with just five or six people was not possible. After weighing his options, he decided to seek help from Black Bear.

Actually, both Zhou Jianbin and Zhao Chengshuang understood that Boss Lin was most likely looking to take advantage of this opportunity to frame Ye Qing. However, neither of them had considered that Boss Lin was personally involved in the matter.

After all, Boss Lin was a member of the Lin family, and the notion that blood is thicker than water made them dismiss the idea of Boss Lin laying a hand on his own kin. This line of thinking prevented them from connecting Boss Lin to the case!

In fact, even Ye Qing had not considered this angle. After all, even the most heartless person wouldn’t strike at their own blood. As the saying goes, even tigers don’t eat their cubs. Just for revenge on Ye Qing, Boss Lin shouldn’t have gone to such extremes.

After Ye Qing scaled the police station’s wall, he went straight into a narrow alley next door. He didn’t run along the alley but scaled several more walls to enter another main street. Then he hailed a taxi and headed for home.

On his way, he had already called Mu Qingrong. Mu Qingrong had just gotten home at the time and did not yet know what had happened. Ye Qing did not say much to her, only asking her to bring out Da Hei.

Ye Qing waited for five minutes in the convenience store across from the neighborhood, and Mu Qingrong brought out Da Hei. Seeing Ye Qing, Da Hei affectionately came over to lick his hand and was very docile by his side.

Seeing Ye Qing, Mu Qingrong hurriedly said, ”Cutie told me that someone came to search your room this afternoon, and there were police officers. What happened?”

Ye Qing briefly recounted the incident, and immediately, Mu Qingrong furrowed her brows and said in a deep voice, ”How could this happen? You are their bodyguard, and you did your best to protect Lin Huayu. How could these people still suspect you?”

”Being suspected is normal.” Ye Qing shook his head and spoke in a low voice, ”Can you help me find a motorcycle?”

”A motorcycle?” Mu Qingrong was taken aback as motorcycles were really hard to come by. Motorcycles were banned in Shenchuan City, and not many people had them.

”I can help you find a car,” Mu Qingrong said.

”A car won’t do!” Ye Qing shook his head, ”Shenchuan City is locked down right now; you simply can’t get out by car. Plus, cars are too conspicuous and not suitable for going into the mountains.”

Mu Qingrong said helplessly, ”Where can we find a motorcycle right now then?”

”Young man, I’ve got one right here!” the convenience store owner chimed in, saying, ”To rent or not, one hundred a day, as long as you don’t break any parts, you can ride it however you like.”

”Deal!” Ye Qing answered crisply and the convenience store owner was even more straightforward, running behind the store and pushing out a very old motorcycle that looked like it belonged to a bygone era. Seeing its rusty condition, it was hard to tell if it would even start.

”One hundred yuan a day for this thing?” Mu Qingrong’s eyes widened in disbelief, thinking that the motorcycle should be taken to a scrap station and sold by weight at eight tenths of a yuan per pound.

The convenience store owner chuckled and replied, ”Rarity is valuable, isn’t it? Otherwise, where would you find a motorcycle right now?”

Ye Qing went over and inspected the motorcycle, asking, ”Can it be ridden?”

The owner immediately patted the seat and said, ”Absolutely no problem. Just a couple of days ago, I secretly took it out for a spin; racing won’t work, but the off-road capability is definitely not bad!”

Ye Qing got onto the motorcycle and tried it out – it really did start. He took out one hundred yuan and threw it to the convenience store owner, saying, ”I’ll return it tonight.”

With money in hand, the convenience store owner chuckled, ”No rush, as long as you’re paying, you can ride it for a year and it’s fine!”

Mu Qingrong glared at him – for a year’s rent, you could buy several new motorcycles.

Ye Qing rode the motorcycle, and Da Hei jumped right onto the rear seat, gripping Ye Qing’s shoulders with his front paws and spreading his hind legs as if sitting on the bike like a person. Ye Qing twisted the throttle, and the motorcycle roared dully, spewing a cloud of black smoke as it sped away.

The convenience store owner watched the receding motorcycle and only after a long time did he stroke his chin and say, ”That dog is really something!”

Mu Qingrong looked on with concern; she was still worried about Ye Qing.

It must be said, the motorcycle was getting a lot of second glances on the road. Particularly with Da Hei sitting on the back, the effect was comparable to a knockout beauty, irresistible to men and women alike, achieving a hundred percent rate of turning heads.

Riding a motorcycle in the city definitely attracted more attention than driving a car. However, Ye Qing did not care about the reactions of the people in the city. Once he reached the suburbs, the motorcycle became less noticeable.

Ye Qing took side roads, zigzagging to avoid the police blockades. On the road out of town, he inevitably encountered police roadblocks.

Several cars were lined up in a row ahead, undergoing inspection by the police. From a distance, Ye Qing took a look. He gently patted Da Hei behind him; Da Hei seemed to understand Ye Qing’s intention and gripped his shoulders even tighter.

Suddenly, Ye Qing twisted the throttle hard, and the motorcycle roared fiercely as it sped away.

The police conducting inspections turned around at the sound. As they saw Ye Qing approaching at high speed, several were instantly enraged - they had never encountered someone so defiant.

A police officer stepped to the middle of the road and waved at Ye Qing, signaling him to pull over.

Ye Qing did not slow down and kept speeding past. Seeing that Ye Qing was not stopping, the officer’s expression changed. He waved his hands repeatedly, but seeing that Ye Qing still didn’t slow down, the officer became furious and cursed, ”Stop the bike, stop now!”

The vehicle was already rushing toward him, and Ye Qing began to slow down slightly. The police officer thought Ye Qing got scared and became arrogant.

A few officers prepared to join forces to intercept, but seeing Ye Qing slowing down, they also didn’t pay much heed. But just then, Ye Qing suddenly accelerated again, and the motorcycle burst through, crossing the six or seven police roadblocks and quickly disappearing into the distance.
