Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing didn’t believe that Old Wang Ba would ditch his scrounging habits, but indeed, Old Wang Ba had cured his internal injuries, which meant the guy did have some skills.

Moreover, Old Wang Ba knew Third Master Li, and it seemed like there were some past connections between them. However, Ye Qing really couldn’t figure out how, as someone seemingly capable, Old Wang Ba had ended up in such a sorry state.

”Do you need him for something?” Ye Qing paused before saying, ”I haven’t seen him myself for several days.”

Mo Xiang said indignantly, ”That old geezer robbed nine of our students of their pocket money, and their parents have made complaints to the school.”

”Uh...” Ye Qing was at a loss for words, wondering how Old Wang Ba could always wind up doing such lame things. He remembered their first encounter when a middle-aged woman was chasing after him, aiming to hit him, and the second time was even more ridiculous; the guy had been doing homework for a group of grade-schoolers.

Every subsequent meeting involved either swindling people or freeloading off them. And this time was the worst—robbing elementary school students. Not even considering whether it was a crime, could he not have a shred of dignity?

Fang Tingyun exclaimed in surprise, ”No way, that old rascal is shameless, but I didn’t think he’d stoop to doing something that humiliating!”

Mo Xianger, looking offended, said, ”What do you mean ’stoop to doing’? He didn’t just rob nine of our students, but several from the next class as well. Our school did a tally, and just in the past couple of days, he’s robbed at least thirty of our students of their pocket money—it’s a crime spree!”

”My God, he really doesn’t care about losing face!” Fang Tingyun exclaimed.

”Alluding to such a person, they probably don’t know what ’losing face’ means,” Mu Qingrong stated coolly.

Everyone unanimously agreed with Mu Qingrong’s view; Old Wang Ba’s face was definitely thicker than the Great Wall built by Qin Shi Huang.

Mo Xiang said, ”The school has recently organized a patrol team, and the local police station has also dispatched people for patrols. If he gets caught this time, the students’ parents will tear him apart!”

Ye Qing scratched his head and said, ”This old guy shouldn’t be doing something so outrageous, committing crimes over thirty times in two days—what is he trying to pull?”

”Who knows, that old geezer really is looking for trouble!” Mo Xiang hesitated and then added, ”I heard he’s even spreading rumors around, claiming the recent explosions were terrorist attacks. And he said the explosions won’t stop; he even predicted where the next ones will happen—it’s pure rumor-mongering!”

Ye Qing was speechless; this fit very well with how the sleazy fortune teller Old Wang Ba talked. He was always spewing nonsense and deceiving people left and right, but robbing school kids didn’t seem to be his specialty.

Mo Xiang said, ”Ye Qing, if you see him, tell him he’d better find a way to apologize to those kids’ parents soon. Otherwise, if he gets caught, he’ll definitely be going to jail for a while!”

”Alright... okay,” Ye Qing replied, feeling incredibly awkward. After hearing Mo Xiang go on like that, he didn’t even want to see Old Wang Ba anymore—knowing him was embarrassing enough.

The next morning, Mu Qing and Ye Qing went to the company as usual. However, they didn’t stay long and soon headed over to Lin Corporation.

Lin Corporation had already drafted the contract, and Mu Qing was there to sign it. Ye Qing’s presence was due to his new job as a bodyguard for Lin Huayu.

When Lin Zhen Nan saw Mu Qing and Ye Qing arrive, he knew what was going on. He signed the contract with Mu Qing first, then turned to Ye Qing with a smile and said, ”Mr. Ye, I’m very grateful that you came to protect my daughter. How much do you expect as a monthly salary?”

”Whatever,” Ye Qing replied casually.

Lin Zhen Nan was taken aback and glanced at Mu Qing, unsure of how to gauge Ye Qing’s temperament. He thought Ye Qing took the bodyguard job for the money. Now, it seemed Ye Qing had no concept of money—what did he mean by ’whatever’?

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Zhen Nan took out a card and handed it to Ye Qing, saying, ”How about this—this card has a one million overdraft limit; take it and use it as you need. If there’s anything you require, let me know at any time. As long as it’s within my power, I will do my best to meet your needs. My only requirement is that you ensure my daughter’s absolute safety!”

”No problem,” Ye Qing nodded.

”Then that’s settled!” Lin Zhen Nan extended his hand with a smile, ”Mr. Ye, I hope we can have a pleasant cooperation. My daughter can be difficult; I’ve spoiled her. Some things may trouble you to accommodate her. She’ll be coming over soon; she has two classes this morning. For safety’s sake, I’m afraid we’ll have to trouble Mr.

Ye to accompany her to the university.”

”Got it,” Ye Qing replied with a nod.

Mu Qingrong listened from the side with mixed emotions. After today, Ye Qing would no longer be working at her company, and she felt a hollow inside. Yet, deep down, she supported Ye Qing because she believed he must have had no choice but to take on this burden.

At nine in the morning, Lin Huayu rushed to the company, already aware that Ye Qing would serve as her bodyguard. The young lady was thrilled.

Lin Huayu didn’t wait for Lin Zhen Nan to finish speaking and excitedly grabbed Ye Qing’s arm, ”Ye, where are we going to have fun today?”

Lin Zhen Nan felt a headache coming on; he was utterly helpless with this daughter of his. Classes were about to begin, and yet, she was asking where to go out to play instead.

Ye Qing glanced at Lin Huayu and said, ”Don’t you have two classes this morning? Let me take you to class first!”

”I really don’t want to go to class!” Lin Huayu immediately pouted and said, ”The class this morning is advanced math, and I dislike it the most. Our old professor talks so slowly and tediously, it’s so annoying; I don’t want to go to class, I want to go out and play!”

Lin Zhen Nan laughed and said, ”Huayu, you’re a student, and attending classes is something you should do. You go to class first, and after your classes, I’ll let Ye accompany you to go out and play. Is that okay?”

Lin Huayu shook her head as vigorously as a rattle-drum, ”I don’t want to, classes are so boring, I really don’t want to go!”

Lin Zhen Nan was the picture of helplessness. His wife had passed away early, and he had overly doted on Lin Huayu; he simply couldn’t control his daughter. Fortunately, Lin Huayu was naturally kind-hearted. Though she was temperamental and willful, she had never done anything too outrageous, which brought Lin Zhen Nan some relief.

”I’ll take you to school first,” Ye Qing repeated his earlier statement.

”I don’t want to go to school, it’s too boring!” Lin Huayu rolled her eyes, then suddenly grabbed Ye Qing’s arm and said, ”Only if you accompany me to class.”

”Huh?” Ye Qing was taken aback, puzzled by the request.

Lin Zhen Nan said with a troubled tone, ”Huayu, Ye is here to protect you, not to attend school. How does it make sense for him to go to class?”

”So what? Which school has no auditors? What’s wrong with letting Ye sit in on the class?” Lin Huayu scoffed and said, ”Besides, aren’t you afraid I’ll be kidnapped during class? Ye needs to be in the classroom to protect me, so I can be safe!”

Facing Lin Huayu’s irrational arguments, Lin Zhen Nan was helpless and could only turn his head to look at Ye Qing with an embarrassed expression.

Ye Qing was unfazed; he nodded and said, ”If the school allows it, I can go in.”

”Of course you can!” Lin Huayu didn’t hesitate and pulled Ye Qing out with her, ”Dad, I’m heading to class then!”

Watching her daughter’s departing figure, Lin Zhen Nan sighed. This was the first time Lin Huayu was so eager to go to school.

Wu Weiguo sat in Lin Zhen Nan’s office, staring at Ye Qing’s retreating figure. After a while, he finally spoke softly, ”Huayu seems to have taken a liking to him!”

”What?” Lin Zhen Nan immediately turned his head and stared at Wu Weiguo for a while, then resolutely waved his hand and said, ”Impossible, how could that be possible? She only met this Ye fellow twice, and Ye had only saved her once, how could she have developed feelings for him?”

”Hero saving the beauty is one of the best ways to attract a girl,” Wu Weiguo said with a slight smile. ”Wasn’t it the same for you and Huayu’s mother? Back then, you fought desperately, risking your life to protect her. The two of you also fell in love at first sight when you first met and eventually ended up together.”

Mentioning the past, Lin Zhen Nan’s expression was a mix of sweet and sorrowful emotions. He tilted his head upwards slightly, silent for a long while, and then he sighed softly, his eyes showing a resolute determination, ”My daughter won’t fall for a martial artist!”

”We’ll see!” Wu Weiguo shook his head and said, ”After all, she still carries the blood of the Shen Family. Why extend the grudges between you and the Shen Family to her?”

”This isn’t about extending grudges; I’m doing this for her own good!” Lin Zhen Nan waved his hand and said, ”Let’s drop this subject. No matter what, she absolutely can’t be with this Ye guy for too long. However, I think it’s just a novelty for her at the moment. Once she gets tired of it, I’ll give this Ye fellow a sum of money, send him away, and there will be no more issues.”

”Heh heh...” Wu Weiguo chuckled softly but didn’t say anything.

After all, could matters of the heart ever be planned?

Lin Huayu was a freshman at Shenchuan University and had been touted as the new campus belle from the day she enrolled. Lin Huayu was very beautiful, and with her prominent family background, she was considered a goddess by countless male students. Unfortunately, this goddess was not easy to approach, which could be inferred from the two bodyguards that were always at her side.

Being unapproachable didn’t stop everyone from admiring her, and this admiration often included a desire to possess her. Any male student who got close to Lin Huayu was seen as a rival by the others. Thankfully, until now, not many male students had managed to get close to her, the only exception being Lin Huayu’s male cousin.

As for everyone else, the most they could do was have a brief conversation with Lin Huayu with at least two meters of distance between them, as her bodyguards were no pushovers. The thought of getting closer to Lin Huayu was even more out of reach for others.

Yet today, Lin Huayu suddenly walked into the classroom with a man’s arm in her grasp, and this was something the entire class of male students found hard to accept.
